I lost my wife to a drug addiction close to 6 years ago. I’m often left with replays of conversations in my head. Conversations where I didn’t hear what I should have. Conversations we should have had but didn’t. To me this song is about regret for conversations missed. I watched as she slid deeper into the void and I failed her. Please, have the conversations you need to have no matter how much they hurt.
When my daughter was too young to go to concerts by herself she asked me to take her to a National concert. I knew nothing about them. I fell in love with their music that night. They were so good. I was pretty much entranced. I think "England" off their High Violet album is one of my favorite songs of theirs. Oh! Or maybe "Runaway". I think High Violet was the album they had out around the time we went to their concert, so it's been a few years.
What do you not see in this live concert video? Cellphones! Not a single person has their cellphones out. They are all taking in the music, and this moment into their very soul. I love The National so much! 😍😍😭😭
I found these guys when I was going through chemo for leukemia, in 2013. They helped me get through a lot of lonely nights in a hospital bed. You would think that happy music would have been better, but i needed to feel things...
Damn I thought I recognized this! This is the end song to one of my favorite movies, "Warrior," starring Tom Hardy and Nick Nolte. Do yourself a favor and watch it! Thanks for this reaction and a big shout out to whoever requested this!
@@Joe-Flow I was happy when they got onto the soundtrack. Before they were on the soundtrack, The National only played this song 3 to 5 times per tour and to close shows, hence the cacophony at the end. Now they play it at every show, but it is not as involved as it is in the video and never the encore as it used to be. It's more like the studio version that is played in the movie. It's very subdued.
Ohhh, please go in with some other The National reaction…they’re so damn good. Lot to listen to, but i suggest you “this is the last time”, “terrible love” , “slow show” “don’t swallow the cap” , “the geese of Beverly road” “mr. November”, “oblivion”. Those few ones just to start, but honestly there’s no a single album of this band that isn’t quite a masterpiece. The secret is all all in the contrast between Matt baritonal voice anche the rythm of the band…is always so catchy.
I appreciate that you look below the surface as you listen. I also enjoy your keen musical ear as you pick up on the little parts that support the whole. Your posts are quite enjoyable. Thank you.
If you enjoyed this song, I would highly recommend The Airborne Toxic Event's "Sometime Around Midnight." It's got a really good build that I think you would enjoy.
Thanks so much for the review, and the shoutout. You are very welcome for the coffee. No. I wasn't there. Never been to Europe. I saw them 5 times in Boston and drove to Radio City Music Hall to see them once. Concerts are my thing. I have seen a lot of bands 6 times. My next two requests will be from 2 bands I haven't seen yet due to COVID. Note to everyone: If you buy coffee, you skip the line. Support the channel. Don't just mention song titles in the comment section.
First time ever hearing this song! I love how you made sense of it all for me! I love the sound of it but had a hard time understanding the few lyrics. You interpreted it perfectly in a way where I could totally realize what was going on. You are so young but have so much insight...
Definitely not a typical rock band. Some good stuff though; 'Day I Die' and 'Bloodbuzz Ohio' are my two favourites. Well worth more listens. For something else a bit special, and definitely not typical, try TV On The Radio (that's the band name). Almost anything of theirs will do but if you'd like to try what is probably the fan favourite go for 'Wolf Like Me'. Cheers.
You have a beautiful honest face. An infectious. Smile. You deserve your face on money 💜💜💜💜. Plz react to ELLA HENDERSON. ... BELIEVE. .OR. LEWIS CAPALDI. SOMEONE YOU LOVE..... Much love from the UK 💜💜💜
Hi! Your reactions are great. May I suggest a few for you to react to soon?... Disposition and Reflection by Tool Grand Canyon and Bedllamite by Puscifer Disillusioned and Pet by A Perfect Circle (All 3 bands are fronted by Mr. Maynard James Keenan yet each band is uniquely different from the other) I love the genuine emotional reaction you have to hearing new music! Enjoy! Hope to see your reaction to these in the near future.
Hands down one of my favorite bands… check out vanderlyle crybaby geeks live. Every show I have been to they finish with this acoustically and it hits you all up in the feels.
Yes he didn't let it go he swallowed his prime and asked her about today and he wanted to know how close he wants to lose her awesome song it's about pride
When this song started playing at the end of the movie Warrior my soul left my body.
Oh my god yes
"Tap Tommy, It's okay.".... The tears were coming down.
One of my favourite movies ever, and it's how I found out about this band
Same, it was perfect
Same. All of those old feels from 2004, when I first heard the song, came flooding back in. Uncontrollable tears.

Damn it, I'm crying like a baby now listening and thinking of the end of the movie. I was going to get a haircut but that's not happening now.
shoutout to Paul for the request!! lol 🙌🏽

@@ajaded1 You may be right I may be crazy. All I know is I cry like a baby when I hear it!
@@Joe-Flow No, you are right. I challenge anyone to watch the last scene and not cry. I was the one who requested this. Lol.

Oh. wow...I'd put this song from my mind a long time ago. This was the soundtrack to the break-up with my first love ten years ago 💔🌠
Just. Beautiful.
Somehow you're managing to react to many of the songs I adore yet I would not call "mainstream." As you might say, "I'm digging the vibe." :}
