It has protection circuits for other things like short circuit, over heating, etc, but not this. They warn you against running that low of a resistive load. A 1 ohm speaker load will have impedance rise so you could probably wire a sub to 0.5 ohm and real load should be 1.0 or higher. Amp dyno's, which use resistive loads, often burn up amps. Its common.
Having a friend buy you a replacement amplifier and give you your original amplifier back is going above and beyond. I like Orion gear especially the powerhouse amps but heres the problem it creates. For any person buying an amp especially new to audio, most amps are overrated or pretty close to rated, then some like these way underrated can be problems too. For example this rated 2500w and pulled near 600amps, the 3500 and hcca are even more. Swapping from a 2k to this isnt 500w, its a big jump.
I was saying no don’t do it🤦♂️ sorry man that sucks. These amps are very strong amps but I have heard there over current protection sucks. Definitely a fixable amp tho. Didn’t look to do any damage to the board and I’m sure if you were to upgrade the mosfets you wouldn’t have any problems ever again.
It’s just not worth pushing amps below rated. These Orion amps are super solid but it’s kinda known not to push them under the rated. You have high moral fiber replacing it new that was the only true solution.
That size seems correct for music and a 1 ohm wired load. You'll get some impedance rise. Definitely not big enough for test tones on a resistor at max volume.

Are you willing to test a amp if i ship it to you ? 4,2, 1 ohm
Good possibility. What amp is it? Or if you’d rather, you can email me at stereomojo@yahoo.com
@@stereomojo it's a memphis viv3000.1v2 sixfive series. I'm curious if it does rated power and also how many amps it pulls under 4,2,1 ohms. Please don't go under 1 ohm lol 😂. It is brand new.
@@stereomojo apparently when it came out it cost over $1k
@@elulysero8863 that sounds pretty cool! Yes, I’m done with going below 1 ohm. lol
@@elulysero8863 wow, that’s a lot of money. I’m gonna look that amp up. I’m not familiar with it. About what year is it?
14:07 They don't make them like they used to. the U.S.A. Red Orions HCCA's would do 0.5 mono all day. It was a time were over engineered amps were a thing. that was the one of the best things about usa made flagship amps.
Hey brother love your videos
I also have plenty of amps you can test , and I'm wanting to know the truth on power 😂
Thanks for the support! What state do you live in?
I got the 4k it was a bad ass amp but i smoked to because i wired it with no fuses
Dang, that stinks! These are strong amps!
my 1dz did'nt come with clip light on bass remote i want to sell it but i live in the hampton roads area of va and people think i should accept 50.00 so i guess i'll have it till i die only used it about 9 months
The new one that I bought didn’t either, so I was wrong about that
what happen to the protect?
It has protection circuits for other things like short circuit, over heating, etc, but not this. They warn you against running that low of a resistive load.
A 1 ohm speaker load will have impedance rise so you could probably wire a sub to 0.5 ohm and real load should be 1.0 or higher.
Amp dyno's, which use resistive loads, often burn up amps. Its common.
Your Orion amplifier burned out just like he tried the Taramps 3000 amp. Why would he be a friend? 🤔 Greetings
Oh boy, here we go
Having a friend buy you a replacement amplifier and give you your original amplifier back is going above and beyond. I will gladly lend my amplifiers to him anytime he wants and I don't expect for him to buy me a brand new replacement if something were to go wrong. Joe is a stand-up guy. I love the fact that I can help him bring in some amplifiers to test.
@@ronaldklein4050 I really appreciate the kind words! Thanks a bunch Ronald!
@@ronaldklein4050 good stuff brother 🤘..
Can't mess with rockford Fosgate amps
Send that amp to indy amp repair. Hes an orion expert.
Smoked...dang. hcca would have handles low ohms. Xrt not so much.
I’d love to try a HCCA.
i had my xtr 2500 at .5 pushing the new solo x 12 on stock electrical lol never had a problem and never got got hot just a tad warm but when i had the jp23 at .5 it would always get warm quick but never had an issue either.
Im surprizedn.067 blew the amp ive seen them do dynamic at .5 no problem
Me too, I thought it would handle it
I like Orion gear especially the powerhouse amps but heres the problem it creates.
Yeah, I agree 100%
Try Burst
That was a burst
I was saying no don’t do it🤦♂️ sorry man that sucks. These amps are very strong amps but I have heard there over current protection sucks. Definitely a fixable amp tho. Didn’t look to do any damage to the board and I’m sure if you were to upgrade the mosfets you wouldn’t have any problems ever again.
lol, thanks Brad!
Just like a reverse Boss on the ratings 😂
For sure! Thanks!
$400 would of bought you more time at the strip joint than the time the amp had life. But at least now we know what will happen.
I don't know what bothers me more animal abuse or amplifier abuse! I feel sorry for this amp,lol
It’s just not worth pushing amps below rated. These Orion amps are super solid but it’s kinda known not to push them under the rated.
You have high moral fiber replacing it new that was the only true solution.
I’m getting sick of these manufactures lies 🤣. I have all xtr amps zero issues in 6 years now.
lol, yeah this one was a lie in a good way. Thanks
15. Volts vs 14. Volts
Stop reserve loads ghost audio 😮
250 amp fuse😂
That size seems correct for music and a 1 ohm wired load. You'll get some impedance rise.
Definitely not big enough for test tones on a resistor at max volume.
@@JasonWW2000 maybe but I would go with 300.
@@Thumper68Me too. 😊
I have that same Orion amp and I run a 300 amp fuse
