yeeeeah, as a caly-ice user myself it is an issue but as Jack himself said, tera fire solves it and its also a pretty solid typing defensively in a general sense so it's not a bad click a lot of the time.
I have been a pagos player since the very start of reg G, never really touched any other restricted. I gotta say I’m happy that people are actually respecting it. I’ve seen people shit on it before and it made me sad, but I do agree with the sentiment that it’s a Tera sink. I will say however, that even though it is a Tera sink. It also comes with the benefit that it makes your opponent less comfortable with terastalization. Giving you a good amount of control over Tera on both sides of the board. Every single matchup with pagos is winnable if there’s a good player piloting it. Sure, zamazenta and koraidon are pretty tough. But they’re not impossible. Yuxiang Wang beat Keanu in a terapagos vs zamazenta matchup in top cut of worlds.
@@FreddiesVG4445 it is definitely a top 5 restricted and I think for people to underestimate it is certainly foolish. I am running a zamazenta team and I still haven’t lost a single match-up into Terapagos personally. However, if I for example was running Caly-Shadow, then I would have a lot of troubles into cause Terapagos has a great match-up into it :)

@@Mossbergg it does has a niche, but I think as far as power scaling is concerned it falls short of almost every single restricted out there. It would be cool to see it do well, but I don’t see it finding success anytime soon unfortunately.
I don't think that viewing Terapagos as a tera sink is actually applicable when you watch the best Terapagos players play. They often tera Terapagos sure but they also don't tera for much of the game as the threat of you tera also limits the opponents ability to tera and then they get into positions where a certain tera that isn't necessarily Terapagos can lock down the game. I mean if you just tera Terapagos because you think you have to do it without actually a specific purpose of benefitting from its mechanics you will just end up doing less damage. I will also say that Terapagos had the most finals appearances and highest conversion rates of the top tier restricteds at official Pokémon events so far while being less popular than three of those so it kept performing above expectations.
@@root2iris I really like your thinking and to an extent I agree with you, but I also have some disagreements :) Although Terapagos is a strong mon (top 5 restricted in fact), there are noticeable weaknesses in it as well. The fact that it can auto lose in certain match ups, specifically against zamazenta, is very rough for it. That’s why I also have Calyrex-Shadow as an A tier mon as well because it against a good Terapagos player will auto lose in most instances. I would say that with Zamazenta, Miradon, and Calyrex-Ice are mons that have certain match ups that are difficult, but aren’t auto losses like as you see with Terapagos. It is true that you don’t need to Tera type Terapagos sometimes, but it is most beneficial to Tera type it because its stats outside of its stellar form are mediocre. Not tera typing it will inherently put you at a disadvantage in most instances, not all instances cause there are the occasional games where you don’t need to, but it’s rare. When you start comparing it to other restricted who without tera-typing already have amazing base stats I think it is hard to justify it being on the same level as them. With that being said, I still think it can go and win events in the right hands cause it did go and win Japanese nationals when piloted by Hyuma Hara. It also does have noticeable strengths as well such as the ability to hit every pokemon for super effective damage and it is very bulky against neutral attacks.
Thank you for this. I haven’t decided yet if I’m gonna play Reg G at all cause I believe that restricted formats get boring very fast (I loved Reg H) but this is really helpful mo make up my mind. I really want to see your team at work tho!
