- Some companies are recruiting seniors on the premise that age equals a stronger work ethic, with companies like Microsoft and Bank of America pledging to give workers over 50 a fair shot. Errol Barnett and Vladimir Duthiers are joined by Johnny Taylor, president and CEO of the Society for Human Resource Management, to discuss.

Not at my former company. They had a three person job and a line about 1/4 full. Then one person retired and they didn't replace him. Then the filled the line as full as they could sped it up and expected two people to do the work of 12. I retired early as the company ran off all the older more experienced help.
What type of jobs? Are highly skilled professionals with credentials still under the trend of acceptance back into work force?
Younger generations are too needy 😂😂
Gee why is that? Well let's face it....most younger workers won't stay at a job longer than 3 years at most. That's a major reason WHY my company hired me........they wanted someone who was going to STAY around. I said I'd give them at least 5 years, they said that was fine.
Young people quit within a month. If sun is out they want to go to the beach, not work.
@@hestermaria2575 We recently hired two new young guys....and the vibes I"m getting from both of them are not good. They haven't missed work...but they don't seem like they have any intentions on staying longer than 2 to 2.5 years at best. I don't blame them to SOME extent. This job (which is quite nichey and different) is more for older technicians and Engineers who are in the "twilight of their careers".... I would NOT recommend this job for any young people now I've been there for 3.57 years....
Definitely not true in England. All the employers want here are a workforce of young kids that they can pay less.
Older workers work more responsibly and with accountability compared to untested new workers.
Wear the tires down until they burst 🤣
Have not seen any evidence of this at all.
After retiring for a couple years from 30+ years as a hotel manager, I went recently went back. Long story short, I'm retired again. Nope... never again.... I barely made it, the rest of you are all on your own. Good luck.
When I finally get to the age I can get out....which will be 62 at the MAX......I'm DONE....AND DONE FOR GOOD.
Never say never
Amazing how you try to make it sound good
Exploitation of the work force is easier, I must assume.
Plenty of platitudes, but not grounded in reality. there's a reason why so many listings include "What year did you graduate from college?" Not many of us are Doogie Howser, so it's pretty easy to deduce a candidate's age from there, and they DO choose accordingly.
I wouldn't go back to the hellhole sweatshop of Anthem Inc (now called Elevance) for a million bucks.
I can understand the demand for older, mature workers. Younger workers like to laugh, talk, play and look at their cell phones on the job.
FJB
The young people have no skills. Older people have skills. My, how the pendulum swings…
*That’s bc older people don’t teach, they judge you on how BAD you’re doing*
My company has a lot of older workers
So retired people over people who need opportunities, got it
Of course I’m in my 40s too young for this too old to be hired as a young person 😂
When I’m 64 lol
"people are living longer". 😂
...as the average American lifespan has dropped three years in a row...
No. Life expectancy has decreased. The pandemic is one reason.
i was making a joke
Younger people don't have a work ethic
I'm young and stupid...what's that? (Ha! Yep, I"m 58.5 and I agree with you completely)
@@dancalmpeaceful3903 stupid is as stupid does
I need a gig!
How are things?

Hiring these Young goofy kids and their Bad attitudes Don't work.......
BS
Nope 😂😂😂.
the younger generation are entitled and lazy.
ok boomer, stay mad you're old and decrepit in your house you bought for two shillings in 1960
And lack skills

@Roger McMillan 🤡🖕
This will be a fun experiment. Have a bunch of boomers work entry level gigs and see if they are still singing the same 'this generation is entitled' tune
that's almost funny. Every single boomer started at the bottom. Most didn't complain, many had more than one job (I had 3), and we worked up. Your statement screams entitlement.
Boomers are the people with skills.
