Some say his masterpiece is his score to "The Good, The Bad, The Ugly" and I agree - but WOW his score to this movie is AWESOME!

the haunting harmonica gets me everytime, its essentially saying in the gangster wars youre going to end up dead sooner or later and the only thing you'll be left worrying about is when (cue the bang at the end to signify the sudden hit)
Saw the film a week ago, and the moment this music appeared I was instantly hooked. While watching through the titles: Music by Ennio Morricone. Explains a lot, he truly is a genius!

I saw this movie and this is a FUCKIN' MASTERPIECE. I love the Main Title, and the role of the film. Robert De Niro, Kevin Costner and the Untouchables's group. One of my favourites.

Holy balls this theme is awesome. I could listen to that on a loop for hours and never get bored with it. Ennio knocked it out of the park with this score. Talk about elevating a fun if flawed film to something truly memorable just by virtue of its amazing score!

I love gangster´s movies. When I saw it first time, I couldn´t believe someone is able to film such great movie. This Brian De Palma is real genius. It corresponds to my image about high-quality movie.
Back in high school around the early 2000s, my girlfriend (now wife) and I went over her two friends' house one day to hang out. We're all gamers, and they were playing Metal Gear Solid 2. They go "hang on, watch this." They put on this theme on their CD player, they knock out a guard in MGS2 and grab him by the ankles to drag him around. They put his body behind one of the ledges outside the rig, and start moving back and forth making it look like Raiden is humping him, all done to this very theme lmao it's still to this day one of my fondest gaming/friend memories of all time. Miss you Chris and Graham.

Agreed. There were some other pretty good scores that year, including Empire of the Sun and The Last Emperor (the winner), but I think this was way better than all of them.

2:07-2:30. I love the whole song but those last seconds are like watching them appear over Capone when he's getting a shaving and raise their badges before they arrest him.
The giy who played Frank Nitti is one of the most sinister looking guys Ive ever seen.

The opening to 'Signs' also reminds me of this in the way the presentation of the credits and the suspenseful music are used to foreshadow the movie itself
