I am a QPR fan of nearly 50 years
My first game was in 1974, I was 8 years old, my older brother took me, our dad had taken him to his first game which happened to be the league cup final in 1967 when QPR as a 3rd division side beat West Brom of the first division 3-2 after being 2 down at half time, our parents grew up in the 1930s and 40s on the Queen's Park estate near paddington where the club was formed and followed the club through the years.
QPR have gained promotion to the top league of English football on 5 occasions and the longest periods spent in the old first division/premier league was between 1973 to 1979 and 1983 to 1996.
We almost won the old first division title back in the 1975/76 season only narrowly missing out to Liverpool by 1 point.
Most of us that follow our local team do so out of tradition, some of us move. away to different parts of the country and even the world but still follow our team, as football fans we watch all levels of the game.
Football has a long history and goes beyond the invention of the premier league. I would suggest you guys do a little research on subjects before presenting your views to the public.

Some of these ‘smaller teams’ get more people consistently in attendance than premier league clubs ? Sunderland Ipswich derby Bolton Sheff Wednesday ect there’s more but these teams aren’t small clubs just because they’re not in the prem

It's not "why" you support a team. Most fans in England don't choose their team

I genuinely can't believe how out of touch you are. Have you ever watched games in the football league? They are more entertaining than the majority of Prem games. The Championship is the most exciting league in the world, by far. Just give up and please stop making this podcast. Playing on the Loftus Road pitch also means absolutely nothing, you have no idea what it means to follow a club week in, week out across the country. Watching football on TV is the most watered down experience you can have
