in my experience doctors cause HARM more often then help. I am permanently and severely disabled from medical abuse. Doctors only need to know how to dismiss,invalidate and gas light.

The law that requires someone in said positions to be mandated reporters also happens to make the reporter a key witness, who is often called in to explain why they made the report and asked about the situation in general. So, in terms of legality in the State of Illinois and Cook County, every first responder there was a mandated reporter, and, while better contacted through a lawyer? Has weight based on their witness testimony in any hearing regarding this incident in regards to it being a case of neglect. And EMTs are usually the first go to due to training in looking for signs of abuse/neglect/etc.
They experienced the event that led to the case being opened. They're 100% going to be asked to answer questions and, if it goes that far, testify in the case. Asking them and showing them that he's properly cared for will lead to a good report on their part in the case. Especially considering she doesn't appear to be in a financial state to have her own lawyer and would have to use a lawyer provided by the state, who may not be as lenient or try as hard. Every witness who can give a good word increases her chances of it being thrown out.

When children are involved in these cases (got lost, was kidnapped or run away.... if there's injury) the word/ testimony of the responding crew (Police, fire, Paramedics, SAR, etc) and their observations while on scene can significantly help or hurt the parent's case regarding abuse depending on the situation. Experienced professionals carry a good amount of weight.

You need to watch the show. Cause you are off the mark. Dawson (the female candidate) is hopping from Ambo to Truck. She had a habit on Ambo as being a bit of a wild card/maverick. Played by her own rules a chunk of the time and she has a habit of believing she's in the right even when she's dead wrong. In later seasons, it's shown that she makes MASSIVE decisions without even involving her SO when it directly involves him. She's a bit of a narcissist and can be very reckless. Lt Casey (Man in charge on the scene) is dating her. Which makes it problematic on so many levels. He cannot be directly in charge of her, so he puts Hermann in charge of her in the field and in the house training. In the firehouse she can do things, but out on calls, she can only observe and help where Hermann or Lt Casey allow it. She is a candidate, which means she is primo rookie, she CANNOT do the things the other firefighters on scene can. It's like asking a first year medical student to work the ER during a crisis. If she f@cks up, people die.

0:27 into this and am no a structural engineer or anything of the sort but the extendable 3 splice ladder on the side of the truck could be opened up and jammed in the ground and extended to hold the railing in place. not a solution but will take off some of the pressure of the mother holding on.

CPS got involved at the hospital- there was a past history of abuse and mother was an alcoholic, which was why the mother didn't want her son going because she knew it would be flagged and he would be taken from her even though this time it truly was an accident. Once it was concluded to actually be a genuine accident, and not abuse hidden as 'accident' the boy was returned to his mother

That’s is completely false, EMS do NOT have the right to transport a minor to the hospital if the parents have legal custody of the child and doesn’t want the child to be transported. It would be illegal for EMS to go against the parent’s choice.

um, Mother has the right to refuse medical care. if abuse is suspected and it is emergent, PD can place child in protective custody. if its not emergent, CPS needs to be contacted. there is nothing wrong with a 5 year old to be on the balcony with the parent inside aware of what the child is doing.
