When I was 13, I would wear out my Violet Burning tapes rewinding them trying to learn your parts. This treasure trove of product demos is a gift. Beautiful playing as always. Love that TV Jones!
Man, that is some soulful tasty playing topped of with a beautiful tone! I'm glad you showed up in the chat at Guitcon today! Looking forward to more videos.
How you only have 19k subs I'll never know. You're one of the greatest players on planet earth, let alone RUclips. Keep em coming, brother! ;-) - Pete Woj
You seriously always have the best tones! I'm on the hunt for a new strat style guitar. I was convinced I wanted a Suhr Classic S for the longest time, but now I'm thinking of going with either a Fender Custom Shop or something like the LsL. It's hard to make a decision on such a major purchase like that when you don't have the luxury of trying them in your local music stores.
I've owned a Suhr Classic S and now I own an LsL. If you want technical and playing perfection, I think Suhr has the slight edge. But the tones out of my LsL are next-level, and gets more of the true vintage sound and feel with incredibly good playability. Suhr's are usually heavier due to the SSCII system (mine was about 8.2lbs), while my LSL is 7lbs even. My 2 cents. Both are crazy good can't go wrong
@@darinluscher478 Thanks for the reply Darin! I was so obsessed with getting a Suhr Classic or Antique S for the longest time, and now I'm starting to wonder if sounds too sterile for my taste. I really don't mean that to be derogatory because I know Suhr makes unbelievable instruments. I'm now researching everything from LSL,Tuttle, Xotix, and even an actual Fender Custom Shop. Torn!
Like usual, you just killed it. That little tune was beautiful. I've said it before, you ever play in Chicago please let us RUclipsres know. Killer Strat.
it's a nice guitar, compares to the 1981 G&L strat style s-500 I got here on my lap... it's open and rich, nice tonal balance. Listening on my studio monitors... sound colours coming through clear. LsL do interest me. Tried a nice LsL T bone last weekend, tempted to buy it.
Shawn, that sounds divine, perfect tone. I have an LSL Saticoy with the 50's pickups but I think I need one with 60's. Going to the LA Amp show this weekend and Lance and the gang are gonna be there and might bring along some gtrs for sale, so who knows might pick another one up. You've also convinced me that I need a /13 FTR-37!
Great vid Shawn, yet again! I own an early 90's Ibanez RX, it is probably worth doing this TV Jones mod on it, including the wiring of the pickups. Great idea!
Thanks Shawn! Your playing is a real inspiration, together with the likes of Guthrie Trapp, Mark Lettieri, Josh Smith, John Mayer, Mateus Asato, Joey Landreth, Ariel Posen, Brad Paisley, Keith Urban, Tim Pierce, Pete Thorn and many many others of course ;) By the way, saw Lady Antebellum and Kelsea Ballerini in Amsterdam yesterday, awesome show! Nashville greats should come to Europe more often, they really should :)
I have been working as Carl Verheyen's tech and US Tour Manager for a few years now. We appreciate the plug as you demo another one of Lance's cool pieces. We have got to get you and Carl together for a show. hit me back and I will see that it happens!
Great demo Shawn and very cool strat! My strat with Lollartron is finished and is versatile as well as yours! I will see if I can make a demo of that one soon!
Shawn Tubbs better choice :) I made a petition about that when I inherited my grand pa strat collection and had to spend 3,000€ in refret/dress fret jobs!! (6 guitars) www.change.org/p/fender-we-want-stainless-steel-frets
Stainless steel frets do feel better under my fingers for sure. The only real complaint about stainless steel frets I've heard is from luthiers. Stainless steel is hard to work on and can tear up fret files and other tools. I've never had any personal experience on the subject as I don't work on guitars. All that being said, that could be one of the reasons why Fender may have reservations about switching to stainless steel frets.
I am not the first to say it, but you really, really need to record an instrumental album.
I second this.
It really needs to happen. What a magnificent player.
Thanks Rob. One of these days ;)
Seriously, we need to make this happen. I will 100% back you if you ask for funding, Shawn.
Thanks so much Adam!
I love your playing so much, man. Keep doing what you're doing Shawn!
Thanks so much, that means a lot to me!
I LOVE the idea of the TV Jones pickup with the single coils. They pair so well!
That Tv jones sounds amazing !
Intro has a great Michael Landau vibe to it! Lovely, Shawn.

Thanks so much man!
I really really like the balance between the singles and the filtertron...
I works remarkably well with the singles.
Really moving playing too mate. That influences our perception of the tone as much as anything!
Thanks Grant!
That guitar sounds lovely and it is because of the man playing it
Amazing playing, amazing notes and amazing guitar! Thank you very much!
Shawn.....If Larry Carlton and Jeff Beck had a son named Tubbs...totally Beautiful dude
Thanks so much Tony!

@@glencruciani I’m curious, did you find your dream guitar?
@rosslunato8111 I've purchased a few Telecasters since this post, but no new Strats. I still haven't found one that suits me and is within my budget.

Hey Shawn! Can you make a Kemper or fractal etc sound like that? If you do I'll buy one tomorrow.
Wish I knew 1/3 of the stuff this guy knows..
High class, quality player.. Well Done !
Thanks very much! I appreciate the kind words.
Love this guitar and your playing!! Would be cool to do a gilmour mod.
dammitt Tubbs !!
go back to California... ya make me want to buy all this stuff .. :)
Hahaha!
Thanks man. Nice work. My Cabronita does the Filtertron thing, but I definitely have a Saticoy on my radar!
Thanks Steven!
Great demo! Those are amazing instruments for sure! Rock On :)
Thanks Edgar!

Thanks so much! Tell the guys I said hey! And yes...I've had that D13 FTR for almost 15 years now. Truly great amp.
Hey man love the vids so much! Just wondering what kind of picks you use? Just curious really.
Thanks so much!! I just use plain old Fender heavies. ;)
Shawn Tubbs Sweet! Thanks for the response!

Phenomenal playing man!!
Oh man... now i need a strat type with a filtertron.. thanks for that Shawn !
Right on! Yeah the Filtertron thing is cool.
Wonderful guitar. I own a T-Bone and a Saticoy. Hands down the best guitars I ever owned! Really, really great feeling and playing instruments!
I have been working as Carl Verheyen's tech and US Tour Manager for a few years now. We appreciate the plug as you demo another one of Lance's cool pieces. We have got to get you and Carl together for a show. hit me back and I will see that it happens!
Hey Ted thanks so much for reaching out. Yeah Carl is crazy good man!! I could never run with that guy live...I'd get buried alive. ;)
This is Music! Sounds awesome Shawn
Thanks so much, Simon I appreciate it!
What a treat, Shawn!
Thanks Ash!
Hi Shawn! what a beautiful chord progression! do you mind sharing which chords are you playing there? You're such an inspiration, by the way!!!
Thanks very much Gabriel! I'm not really sure about the chords to be honest.. D6/9 over F#, F?, A6/9, A13, F#-7, E11. They're just shapes for me. ;)
Yeah Shawn TV Jones classic is my favorite. I put one in Bridge only gretcsh black Falcon, bigger growl than the stock hi sensitive filtron
just killer tones!
How would you say the filtertron changes the sound of a regular bridge? A little more low end? I'm thinking about mixing it up on my strat...
It's generally going to be a little fatter than a typical single coil bridge and softer in the top end and certainly more lows.
Sweet sounding guitar and great playing! Do you run your Strymon in stereo and use 2 mics for your demo's?
Thanks Greg! I pretty much never play in stereo. I do use 2 mics but they are summed mono.
Great demo Shawn and very cool strat! My strat with Lollartron is finished and is versatile as well as yours! I will see if I can make a demo of that one soon!
Thanks Harry, yeah the Lollartron is killer. I've been a fan of Lollar pickups for years now.
Shawn Tubbs I have their Dirty Blackface set in another strat and they’re great as well, one of the best tones you can get!
Nice! Yeah I've got the Dirty Blonde set in my black LSL.
Shawn Tubbs these are great as well, little lower output but very sweet tone
so sweet!!! love it!
Thanks Kasper!
*opening song. I’m moist. M O I S T !
Shawn - what speaker / cab are using? The Suhr 1x12 Vet 30?
I still have the Suhr 1x12 with the Vet 30 but I've been using Bogner 2x12 closed back with Eminence CV 75s for a while now.
#golden
Fabulous.
Thanks Dan!
Your the Master Shawn
You're too kind.
Firkins lovely!
Thanks Paul!
Jeff Beck anyone? Wow! Great playing
Thanks very much!
Love the Jeff Beck influence with the trem bar.
Thanks Jeremy!
Stainless steel frets?
Yes they are stainless. I think I may have misstated in the talking points.
Shawn Tubbs in fact you said « 6100 Dunlop » but Dunlop doesn’t offer stainless steel. I think LSL uses Jescar ones for SS.
Yeah, I've got D 6105 frets on my black LSL but the gold one has stainless steel frets that are about the same size as the 6105's.
Shawn Tubbs better choice :)
