Watching all 3 movies is required viewing. All 3 of them are great in their own way and retain the soul of the first film. It’s one of those rare times where the sequels can keep up with the original. So definitely watch Part 2 and Part 3 :)
This is heavy nostalgia for me, since I was 12 when the original came out, right in the perfect age range for the movie. I saw all 3 in the theaters as they released. There’s very few experiences better than getting to watch the Back to the Future trilogy in theaters when they released with a very active audience. The laughing, cheering, etc. made it so much more memorable.

The only thing I’d change about this trilogy is that I’d remove the teaser that plays at the end of Part 2.
I get why they originally included it, because they felt they needed to reassure the audience that everything would be resolved after ending the movie on such a cliffhanger.
But I feel that for people coming to the whole trilogy fresh with no preconceived ideas of what to expect, it’s a bit too spoilery and not really needed anymore.

It's also really well done in that no one in the series mentions it, since for them that was "always" the name of the mall.
Doc Brown is the one thing that never changes in the series. Which is a little weird considering he went from probably being a bit down that none of his experiments work to knowing since the 50s that the greatest one would. IRL this would probably result in him inventing time travel much early just out of a desire to get to the point of being a successful inventor and at most keep it secret from Marty until the day he would normally reveal it and probably also result in many other creations being successful thanks to the boost to his ego.

The reason Doc kept and read the letter is because of the moment where he sees the restored photo and hears about George knocking out Biff. When he says "Never?" with the worried look, thinks and dismisses it, it's planting the seed of doubt in his mind over whether those kinds of changes are always catastrophic or if the future is sacrosanct, as well as setting that twist up for the audience. One of the themes the series repeats is that the future is unwritten, so you may as well make it a good one.

23:26 "I'm sure in 1985, uranium is available in corner drug stores." Actually depleted uranium was used in wristwatches of the era and in glow in the dark frisbees of the 1970's.
25:42 George is very afraid of letting anyone see his stories and deathly afraid of rejection. He has Borderline Personality disorder.

Lorraine was doing the 1950's version of OF 😂
But I think your definitely right about the mental/emotional state of George and Lorraine. People don't really think about cause that would probably mean noticing what's going on in themselves. In the timeline of generations, the 1950's is when generational families really shifted to nuclear families and then fractured even more.
George likely has BPD or at least some serious codependency and avoidant anxiety. Lorraine has parents that are just oblivious to her so she is sexually forward, drinks liquor and smokes in high school, and has some magical thinking with how hard she fawns for "Calvin Klein." Biff, presumably, doesn't have his parents in his life and is raised by an uncaring grandmother so he becomes a bully, potential r@pes a girl and eventually takes things further in other timelines until someone stands firm and he buckles to sniveling facade that covers he's still a dick when he's not around others.

17:40. In the fifties, one of the games some kids would play was a form of chicken where they would see who could wait as long as possible to run across a street in front of a car; the winner being the one who came closest to being hit. I’m assuming that’s what’s meant by “another kid jumped in front of my car”.

Also I always interpreted that a bunch of kids were very attracted to Lorraine, which meant that there might have been at least more than one other than George hanging around her house, stalking and spying on her. After all, it was the 50s…

Fun Fact: the Twin/Lone Pines Mall is the Puente Hills Mall.
Fun Fact: The idea for the movie came to Bob Gale when he was visiting his parents and looked through their yearbook, and wondered if he would be friends with his father if they went to high school together.

Even when I saw this in the 80s I thought it would be better to make the electrical cable connected to the car parallel to the car and then it would keep tracking with the car until he reaches 88 MPH. A bit like a gondola but on the street.

Did you notice? Marty arrives at mall and sign says "Twin Pine Mall". Marty goes back in time and accidentally runs over a pine tree while being shot at. When Marty makes it back to 1985 and he sees Doc get shot again, Marty is standing next to a sign that says "Lone Pine Mall. Marty running over that Pine Tree in the past caused the name of the Mall to be changed

Keep in mind that, that model of DeLorean was famous for having a crappy starter. lol I love how they kept that for the movie. A few years ago i had a Civic, and the starter switch, which is in a removable box under the dash through that side compartment where the door close on the passenger side, burned out while i was driving and my engine just cut off while i was driving. I slapped the top of my steering wheel in frustration, and it started right back up immediately. So when he bangs his head on the wheel and the time machine kicks back on, it's not that far off. lol

Love that much of the dramatic tension needed to advance the plot depends on the fact that DeLorean cars as manufactured were unreliable and required upgrades after purchase to make them safe to drive. That's why the car is always not starting or the door won't unlock, etc.
Also, there's a joke by the director and producer in a DVD commentary that perhaps Doc financed the time machine by selling the cocaine he found inside the spare tire when he tore the car down to build the time machine. In truth it was just a rumor about drugs in the tires but John DeLorean did get into trouble for fundraising by less than legal means.

Okay Trixy...No spoiler as to the story, but some things you need to know...
There was NO plan for any sequels. It was only this movie being a runaway box office success that made them think about doing them. So, they created the stories for the next films and basically filmed them together back-to-back. If you watch the second, at the end there is a "trailer" for the third one before the end credits. If you don't want spoilers, don't watch that part.
If you do the rest of the Trilogy, the role of Jennifer was re-cast. The original Jennifer had family issues with her mom having cancer, so she opted to not return for the sequels and care for her mother. The role is played by Elizabeth Shue (Ali from 'The Karate Kid). Also, so has George...in a way. There was a lot of bad blood between actor Crispin Glover (George) and the filmmakers. It's a long story...so they worked around it best they could. It does not detract from how great the films are, so don't worry about it! This is just a heads-up!
Great reaction, Trixy!!! Please do the next two...you will LOVE them!!!!

For Trixy Blue -When I saw this in the theater in 1985, the joke about Ronald Reagan being president and Doc says "An actor?!" got a huge laugh because Reagan really was president, and had been a famous Hollywood Actor for years back in 1955. Back to the Future is probably among the top 5 movies of the 1980's!

"REEFER" is what they use to call Marijuana back in the day, hence " I don't want to mess with no reefer addicts " 😆👍✌️ My dad rented this film In the mid 80s and I immediately took it to the old school rental stores and asked for the sequel and the rental clerk tells me , " kid it hasn't even been made yet" 😳 BUMMER .... I had to wait almost 5 years for the big anticipated sequel. ....Ya,,, and the second film is totally awesome as well , totally, totally, totally recommend Back to the Future 2👍✌️😉 Same production team behind all the films, Rob Zemeckis 🎥 👍
