    If you had to convince someone to come to Taiwan, what would you tell them? 如果你必須說服某人來台灣,你會告訴他們什麼? 🎉

      I have family in Taiwan and have been there a few times in my life. Taiwan is very much a product of its history. An island that was occupied most recently by the Japanese, then the Chinese came over, but much of the main cities still revere Japanese culture. The way I see it is that Taiwan is a merging of Chinese and Japanese cultures with their own little twist being on an island. In many ways I personally think it feels like a more Chinese version of Hawaii, which is also interesting considering almost all pacific islander genetics can be traced back to Taiwan.

      Yeah it happens but no where near like in Vietnam 😂 any day at the market you gotta be ready to haggle if something doesn’t have a price. Also they sometimes get pissed when you call them out 😂 so def prefer it here in Taiwan in the few cases it does happen

    I dont mean to be racist, i feel sometimes japanese convience stores are not better than taiwan all the time, cuz some of the japanese ones are less clean and a bit old, compared to the generally new and cleans ones everywhere in taiwan. Also there are more indians working there, there was once one of the supposedly indian worker stole the change money in shibuya, i latter noticed, and the custom service never replied me for that, while in taiwan the custom service would definitely contact me.

    It's VERY humid and I'm from Texas. There are lots of mosquitos and they'll bite you to death because you're new blood. The videos don't show any of these things. I got a heat stroke there.

    • @KaylaCosmos
      @KaylaCosmos  7 месяцев назад +2

      I’m sorry to hear you got heat stroke! Yes it does get hot here. But..in comparison to other countries in Asia one might wanna travel many also have lots of mosquitoes and heat, so it’s not a Taiwan exclusive problem. I always have a bug spray with me when I’m out at night and traveling cause yeah the mosquitoes come 😂

      @@KaylaCosmos It's not just that. Some things might not be evident since you've only lived there for two years. Two years is not enough time to truly understand what a country is really like. It's still the honeymoon phase. Their visa requirements are strict - even if you have a child there, you can't become a citizen. You can live there for 30 years and never become one. Their laws are designed to keep foreigners out. Sure, the food is good and the people are friendly, but I wouldn't recommend any foreigners to live there long-term. Also, they discriminate against Southeast Asians and anyone darker skinned. You're not, so you probably didn't experience that discrimination. For example, even if you're as educated as the next blonde-haired person, schools and parents will STIL pick the blonde-haired person as it looks like their kids will get a better education. They don't truly know. Also, pedestrian fatalities happen daily. You need to constantly look around when you walk or a moped, bus, or car might hit you. These are all facts from someone who has lived there longer than two years.

    When I think of Taiwan, I think of little teahouses in the mountains, tasty steaming street food and beautiful pagodas...in other words, like a little China! I don't know if that's fair to either country, but then it adds to your question of why people skip out on Taiwan in favor of South Korea, Japan and Thailand...well, why do they skip out on China too? Both places have lots of culture and history, which is intricately linked to Japan, SK, Thailand and Vietnam--the countries that people do go to. It's always struck me odd that people don't have Taiwan or China at the top of their list.
    And geez, they're probably slurping Boba tea when they're planning that trip to Japan!!!!

    • @KaylaCosmos
      @KaylaCosmos  7 месяцев назад

      lol as long as Taiwan doesn’t start selling something “sexy” to the world like Korea and Japan have to get Westerners fully obsessed, I think we’re fine. This video will probably only get people off the fence and while I don’t want mass tourism, I wish more people who are like “mmmm should I go to Taiwan?” to just stop questioning it and come.
