It’s so good to see you happy and getting to do again what you are so passionate about. I felt so bad for you when I watched your video on how the AT had ruined your life. I hated to see you settle for a life that doesn’t hold the same spark it used to. Go on your hike - enjoy every minute - challenge yourself - and when you’re done, who knows? Maybe move to the mountains, or not, but you only live once. I’m older now and wish I had lived my life with some gusto instead of the same old thing everyday- go to work, come home, go to work, come home etc. You’re so young - you have endless options, and you have the guts to do anything. I want the best for you and for you to love your life. Good luck on this hike - I’ll be watching - and hopefully you’ll have an epiphany out there on what to do afterwards. BTW, I can’t wait to see who your hiking partner is! 😊
Great explanation showing the permit registration process. This permit covers all the land managers the trail crosses and reduces the number of permits and fees required to enter those lands. The permit is not required, but it saves hikers time and money. Imagine doing individual permit processes for 3 states, 3 national monuments, 7 California State Parks, 24 National Forests, 48 Wilderness Areas, at least 1 native reservation, and multiple private land holders!
You must have been so excited waiting for your permit. Nice it worked out for you and your hiking partner. Looking forward to following along. I'm sure this video will help future PCT hikers to acquire their permits.
Congrats on getting your permit. Really stoked for you and your PCT hike. I can't believe you kept this all a secret for this long. Have a fantastic time. Can't wait to see who you will be hiking with.
Sitting on the application screen is like me hitting refresh on ticketmaster tyring to get those concert tickets for someone's birthday. LOL! BTW you're good at keeping secrets, I would've been shouting from the rooftops the second that confirmation e-mail hit. Looking forward to your PCT adventure.
This is the most concise and complete video about registering for the PCT. Cannot wait to find out who your partner is. Wish it was Groceries but am also hoping it is one of the other girls from your last AT Tramily 🥾🥾🥾
Well, that doesn't seem too hard to do. 😅 I'm definitely looking forward to watching you on your awesome adventure. ❤ like i said i have never watched any documentary of anyone doing the PTC so this should be interesting 😊
Could you please make a video detailing how you determined your budget for the Appalachian Trail and if you are using different parameters for the PCT budget?
I wonder why the PCT needs all of your private information (DOB, phone number, address, etc, etc, etc)? What do they do with this information? I'm not even sure why you need a permit to hike the PCT? Does the "PCT Police" throw you off the trail if you don't have a permit? You don't need a permit to hike the AT, although the GSMNPrequires a permit to go thru the "park" and the SNP in Virginia has a voluntary permit at the entrance to the SNP. PCT sure seems like a bureaucracy and you're not even dealing with the "government". Just curious...
😂I thought the same thing until I researched and applied myself. This is a highly sought after permit and is limited to 5000 people annually to minimize the impact on the highly sensitive environment in some of the areas it travels through. All the information used is so the process remains fair and you can only register once and for one permit. Any redundancies or attempts to gain or apply more than once will result in your application being cancelled for that calendar year.
@Mikehastohike Thank you, but I still have to ask, what can anyone do to you if you hike the PCT without a permit? I understand the attempt to limit the impact on the trail, but the PCT isn't a government entity and has no enforcement authority that I know of. Does a person really need a permit to hike the PCT? What about section hikers, day hikers, etc? Sorry, I'm just confused.
@@wingnut8511 While most of the trail can be hiked without a permit such as the area I live and around me, there are big portions that travel through National Parks and National or State Forests/parks where normal fees may apply and or registration for camping. The PCT permit basically gives you consolidated access/admission to these areas for traveling in and camping in without having to register with each area. Enforcement is only in these areas through park rangers. Non compliance can result in large fines from issuing agency.
@@MikehastohikeThanks for covering the PCT permit need, it saves so much time and possible costs. The agency I volunteer with still requires onsite wilderness permit registration from PCT hikers, but there's no cost and the permit is simply a trail-user tally (and a bit of a safety factor while hikers traverse 4 wilderness areas and a reservation during a 100-mile section).
Good luck on your PCT hike, guess you are transitioning into a career hiker, probably CDT next, maybe Colorado Trail, maybe Patagonia, maybe Camino de Santiago. Only 2159 miles across the moon so start planning Oxygen resupply.
I'll try this for next pct hiking season. So in the application you select one wish date where you want to start and then you wait if the pcta grants you this date? If your not chosen fir this date then you dont automatically get a nearby date? You need then to apply for the second try?
The fact that u got the day may be a lot of hiker cancellation. Intimidated by last year extreme maybe once in 25-50 year conditions in the west coast. Typical water carry thru desert is 6L, but some hikers just carried a water cup. Streams, creeks everyday. However 2024 back to drought, watch Sanjac and his Sanjacinto snow reports. Also same time last year dozens of youtube vids declaring PCT thru hike. I only count 2 serious hikers so far.
What a convoluted process! Very frustrating. What if you can't finish by the date you applied to finish? How the heck are you going to know how long it'll take you to hike 2600 miles? Considering your history of being a Zero Hero 😉🤣

Wohoooooooooooo central Florida 🤗🤗🤗🤗
This was a brilliant idea for a video. Takes all the guess work out of what to expect. Thank YOU for doing this!

Just saw this an hour after I submitted my application. Fingers crossed, great video
Best of luck!
I am ready to follow you on the PCT. I wish you little snow, no fire closures and minimal smokey days.
Thank you
Can’t wait to follow you on the PCT!
Thank you
Congrats on getting your permit. Really stoked for you and your PCT hike. I can't believe you kept this all a secret for this long. Have a fantastic time. Can't wait to see who you will be hiking with.

I am a new follower, looking forward to your adventures on the PCT❤
Welcome aboard!

Great video. I look forward to following you on this adventure. I enjoyed your Appalachian Trail videos.
Awesome, thank you!
Congrats getting excited to follow your journey. This is going to be exciting. I always pray for you.
Thank you so much!!
Looking forward to watching your PCT hike. A friend I hiked the AT with in 2022 is going to start in April.
That’s awesome
The Sierra Nevada mountains will be on your mind for a long time. Palisade lake Muir pass. Lots of places you'll never forget
I look forward to that
I am super excited for you!!! Can't wait to follow on youtube as you embark on your journey! Have an amazing time!
Thank you so much!!

Awe thank you . The PCT permit process is very convoluted
@@hikingdancer glad the AT & CDT are so much easier

I wonder if donating money (on that part of the application) makes it more likely that you'll get your chosen start date.
Good luck!
Thanks!
The Permit process does seem confusing but you have it sussed.
There's no such thing as a permit system for any hiking here in Scotland. Thankfully.
Yeah it’s a confusing process
Outstanding video
Thank you so much 😀

It’s just to get an idea I think
Good luck …..if you apply in Jan can you still start early or is the 2nd wave application makes you start later ?
Yes 👍🏼

It really is a ridiculous process and way too confusing and convoluted
I think there will be less zero days, just the ones that are absolutely needed.
crap ... second ,...
Second is still great
Very well explained indeed. I can’t wait to know who your hiking partner is 🥲. Happy trails.🤘🏻🥾⛰️
Coming soon!
Great video. I look forward to following you on this adventure. I enjoyed your Appalachian Trail videos.
