He was fine in some scenes from Attack of The Clones, in others not so much. But that doesn’t mean he was bad, it was just how he was directed to do it. I’m not gonna blame Lucas for it, as I understand what he was wanting. But his execution was a bit off. Now Hayden was a lot better in revenge of the Sith. But here in this episode (along with him in Kenobi) he was fantastic. He combined both prequel Anakin and clone wars Anakin together. Hayden is the best.

Goes to show this is the real Anakin. Him saying “I’ve heard that before” (I won’t fight you) is what Luke said in ROTJ proof he was aware of every event he was involved in even as Darth Vader which is why he didn’t recognize the siege of Mandalore. In the end Anakin succeeded in teaching a final lesson from beyond the grave to Ahsoka letting go a lesson he himself never learned. It was also a lesson for Ahsoka to learn that even though her master made mistakes doesn’t me she has too she had to accept that Anakin’s failings are not on her and she isn’t defined by them. Props to Hayden for his portrayal of 3 Anakins Force Ghost Anakin at peace with a larger understanding now that he is one with the force. Clone Wars Anakin battle ready yet with a young vibrancy to him. And Dark Side Anakin the way he was cold yet rage filled shows that Darth Vader was not just the suit or a Sith title Darth Vader has always been part of Anakin Skywalker every questionable decision every atrocity he committed every dark act he did.

Yeah, you have a 14 year old playing a character at 13 and 16. The only way to have done it better would have been to have an older actress play the 'Siege' version. People forget how young Ahsoka was, and how short the war was. Besides, we're not actually seeing Clone Wars scenes in live-action, we're seeing grown up Ahsoka's smokey hazy memories of how she sees herself.

Hera's parenting is fine: Chopper would murder anyone who came close to that kid.
Seeing Ahsoka in the Clone Wars does a better job than the animation of highlight just how young Ahsoka is when she's out there giving life/death orders, and killing Mandalorians. Maybe it's the disconnect of animation, but this really hammers home that the Jedi were fielding child soldiers. If the Jedi Order hadn't been wiped out, there was going to be a generation of Jedi with real issues.

I think Anakin represented safety, protection, and home for Ahsoka. I think that she knew that she was safe as long as Anakin was around. Every time something bad happened to Ahsoka in The Clone Wars, it happened when Anakin wasn't near her or he couldn't do anything to prevent the situation. I think Anakin took solace in knowing that Ahsoka was safe if she was by his side. That's why he experienced so much separation anxiety.

    It was Anakin all along.
The lesson, Ahsoka needed from him, and is straightforward: Ahsoka always grappled with the idea of renouncing her fighter and warrior side: 'We were trained to be keepers of the peace, not soldiers.' This conflict grew even more intense as she matured, and saw all the suffering in front her eyes.
It's as though Ahsoka desired the path of the Jedi but wished to distance herself from their warrior aspect, and all the dangers it brings.
Anakin's teaching to Ahsoka was crystal clear: 'You lost a battle. Do you want to live or die?' He then attacked, forcing her to choose between defending herself or perishing. Despite this, she seemed to miss the message. This sentiment is echoed in her remarks during the Clone Wars, 'What are we doing here? And my lesson?' Her confusion persists. "I am here to teach you how to lead, and for that you have to fight". 'If you don't fight, you die.' To her, this might seem cruel, and she correlates this with her conflicted image of Anakin/Vader, which frequently shifts between her eyes.
Furthermore, in the Siege of Mandalore scene, when Anakin claims she is a part of his legacy and of those before him, Ahsoka remarks on his danger. Anakin responds with, 'You haven't understood. Let's go back to the start. I offered you a choice: do you want to live or die?' This theme becomes more pronounced as he intensifies his assault during his lesson about becoming a Sith, to the point where she has to fend off Vader, eventually gripping his wrist, declaring her will to live. By doing so, she recognizes and embraces the warrior within, understanding that this facet of her is crucial for her survival. This idea was explored in a 'Tales of the Jedi' episode. It's an intrinsic part of her, her legacy. A Jedi embodies both the roles of a soldier and a beacon of virtue. Ahsoka readily embraced the latter but struggled with the former, a contrast to Anakin.
Anakin's lesson wasn't just a Jedi teaching; it was a stark statement about the often cruel nature of life itself. He wasn't being philosophical but brutally pragmatic: 'Do you want to live or die?' In that moment, Ahsoka was forced to confront not just her Jedi training but also the uncomfortable reality that life can be unforgiving. Her struggle with this lesson reflects her inner conflict, torn between her identity as a peacekeeper and the unavoidable necessity of embracing her warrior side for survival.
It was only when Ahsoka acknowledged this duality that she found resolution and freedom. That fighting that she wanted to forget, with all the the suffering that was inherit with it. All the clones that died, Anakin's fall.
I also think that Anakin didn't really turn to his Sith version, it was a set up, not that Anakin genuinely wanted to kill her in the world between worlds or that he was incapable. If he had truly intended to, she wouldn't have stood a chance. Instead, it was a lesson, and Anakin had to set the stage for her. It was always the reedemed Anakin all along. Just needed to embodied the Vader version to finish the lesson. Not as Anakin is bipolar and not resolved yet in the afterlife.
Anakin's message to her was to embrace her soldier side and find peace with it, emphasizing that his fall to the dark side wasn't due to this aspect or her actions "I am much more than that, as you are". He urges her to live on.

"Intense" sugarcoating? *ding* There are several quotes that illustrate the things he is teaching her. "He was powerful, rarely lost a battle. What would've surprised people is how kind he was" "I've thought about her every day since we parted, but she's forgotten me completely " "but will we do so as keepers of the peace, or warriors? And is there a difference?" (Ahsoka to Barriss about the Jedi post war), "THIS IS RIDICULOUS, the droids aren't HALF as good as Rex's men " "that's the point. This is SUPPOSED to be difficult Ahsoka. It's my job to protect you. And the best way I can do that is to teach you how to protect yourself " "How well would you sleep, knowing that I let you down?" "Not very well I'd imagine "(Anakin and Obi-Wan talking about her) "Where were you when I needed you? "I made a choice" "You were SELFISH" "No" "You FAILED me, you ABANDONED me, do you know what I've become?" (Being confronted by a Force vision on Lothal) "you can't save your master, and I can't save mine" "The Jedi are supposed to be keepers of the peace, but all I've been since I was a Padawan was a Soldier" "I see the Padawan needs 1 final lesson " "Let's just say I DIDN'T use standard Jedi protocol " "I've seen what such attachments can do to a fully trained Jedi Knight, to the best of us" "Then I will avenge his death " "Revenge is not the Jedi way" "I am NO JEDI" "I won't leave you, not this time" "Then you will DIE" "Train yourself to let go.....of everything you fear to lose" "I KNOW there is still good in you, the emperor hasn't driven it from you fully" "you already have, Luke. You were right, you were right about me. Tell your sister, you were right" "Father, I won't leave you "

10:31 Btw, did you know that according to “Bespin Bulletin” there was a fight scene shot between Anakin (as Hayden Christensen) and Ahsoka (as Savannah Steyn instead of Ariana Greenblatt, at least for that scene) on Mustafar in an alternate-reality-like setting during the "world-between-world like" moments, which they said was cut from the actual episode? In that scene Anakin would have showed her that she couldn't have changed his fate to become Vader even if she were there at that point, which would have taken away a lot of her guilt of her not having been there and not being able to save him, resulting in the now more light-hearted Ahsoka. They cut that scene, maybe cause it wasn't really a memory and/or cause Anakin's message/lesson was a different one? Though I still hope they would release it as a separate video on YT or sth like that, cause I would really like to see what that scene (and Savannah Steyn as Ahsoka) would have looked like and it also explains a bit better imo why Ahsoka is more enlightened and happy at the end.

Nice, but I think you all are missing some important clues given.
Baylan sees Ahsoka dropping and his conversation with Sabine he talks to her like given Ahsoka as dead. Probably he sees she hitting the rocks bellow.
Talking about the place when this all happened probably is a powerful force nexus. And if happened in other place she probably not was presented with the choice to live or die.
What I think that happened, was she body are in some place in the water but her spirit cross to world between worlds. And what go next is a near death experience. One of the first thing Anakin tolde to her was, he was not expecting her there so soon. The second thing he said to her is that she lost, but has a chance to live. And that is because she remember what happened.
So he pass thru her blocking her avance in the afterlife path, and force her back to the beginning of the path that was pretty close if you see. And when they get there he make her see a part of her life.
I think that was 2 things happening.
First Anakin is making she choose live or die, but he dont want that she die, so stop fighting is always the wrong answer to him.
The second thing is the training, like all Jedi knight they have to face the dark side and come back of the experience.
In the end her eyes has revealing her dark side, but she do not let it take control over her beside wishes to strike down what he became, she make peace, stopping the fight and choosing to live.
What she realizes is that she can be everything Anakin was and more, but this is the path she must follow and what she becomes will be forged by her own decisions.
The boy and Hera heard the lightsabers, I believe it was more because the place was a point of convergence in the force. But many must be wondering why she listened?
Just remember the first lesson. The force is present in all living beings.
And some have the talence to chanel and use this power.
Well that is what I thing is going on \o/

Even that stupid smirk at the end, is almost the same one he gives Ahsoka the last time she saw "the real him" right before the siege.
The "there's hope for you yet" line also reminded me a lot of the very beginning of it all. "You'd never have made it as Obi-wan's padawan. But you just might make it as mine."

kinda problematic when the show is called Ahsoka, yet for 5min Anakin with a younger Ahsoka steal the show. no wonder this episode is the rage, not sure if any of what will come will reach this peak.

This episode gave me chills! If these are the only two episodes of Hayden Christensen we are getting then they were totally epic! The flashbacks gave me goosebumps! For me Ahsoka was struggling with failing Sabine. Anakin at least taught her accept failure and learn to lead. This felt like a finale it was that good!

To be fair Ahsoka was literally 17 during the Siege of Mandalore/Order 66. So her still looking close to her 14 yo self on Ryloth isn't' that big of a jump. The actress also killed it as Ahsoka by the way!

Hera leaving her kid with the republic that obviously does not trust her, tbh I could see why she would not, despite his kid is force sensitive so it would make sense to bring him. But I kinda agree with you

I'd much rather Hera have Jaycen with her and chopper than leave him with the New Republic which to this point has proven to be incompetent.
If he ends up with Luke, we have a Kylo problem.
My guess is she wants Ahsoka to train him but her fears of past and her inability to work with Sabine have kept Ahsoka from training him, similar to saying no to Grogu.

This was a fantastic episode from start to finish. It’s unfortunate that you seem so hypercritical of it. You are entitled to your opinion of course. But it’s just disappointing to watch you nitpick everything to death. Kind of ruins the experience for the majority of us that feel this is the best piece of live action Star Wars we’ve gotten in years.
