I have found very few videos on how Bill Pope shot the MATRIX, I met him once at a lecture and even in person he didn't explain very much. I learned more from this video that I did form the man himself - thank you!
Rewatching the subway station fight scene and wondered why later superhero movies (MCU/DCU, etc...) didn't use a similar style or formula. The Matrix cinematography came the closest to replicating the look of graphic novels and comic books. Bravo to the whole team for being innovative all the way around 👏
Nice to actually hear some of the tech information about the film that's NOT related to bullet time. Most of the info online centers around the fancy VFX stuff, understandably, but of that overshadows the ALSO outstanding cinematography. As far as I'm concerned, Bill Pope is the GOAT.

The film that got me into cinematography was The Shawshank Redemption, and then I watched stuff like Barry Lyndon, Call Me by Your Name, The Social Network, Frances Ha, The Before Trilogy, that I all love for both their cinematography, and just the storytelling in genreal.

Excellent. I think The Matrix is so good overall that the quality of the cinematography (and the score) is often under appreciated.

My recommendation for analysis is A.I. + Minority Report, and Bound, also by Pope, and perhaps most of all I'd love to see a breakdown of Terminator 2
