What is the original video? I've seen whoever made that video before but I don't know the content creator's name to look up/share the original video with my social circles
Diablo comes out with the bare minimum to call it a game and charges upwards of $100, POE2 comes out packed with content and its FREE TO PLAY. More Exile-like games please.
Sure that tweet wasn't an unhinged take, but to be fair, D2 was the last Diablo-like game Blizzard made, so it makes absolutely no sense regardless of timing or PoE. The whole scaling mechanic and item system they have since D3 has nothing to do with what made D1-D2 great.
I don't necessarily think the diablo like take is correct, i can see the argument somewhat but being real there is no functional reason to introduce the "diablo like" into the genre naming scheme, it doesn't make it any more clear considering how different diablo games are from eachother. If we use the standards of diablo 2, maybe diablo 4 wouldn't be considered a diablo like. Its silly, it doesn't make it any more clear what the game is, and quite frankly arpg is a genre small enough we probably don't need to introduce subgenres yet. I think the tweet was rather unfortionate timing but outside of the discourse i think hes wrong
It is a correct take, it's just wrong time and wrong person to state it. Rod Fergusson is not OG, he didn't work on D1 or D2 or even D3, the person who could say what Rod said and be hailed for it is David Brevik, the actual OG. Coming from David Brevik it would've been a compliment, coming from Rod it sounds bitter and resentful.
If I were Rod I would be shitting myself, where I work no project/product SVP would keep his job if a competitor took a shit on us this big in a direct product comparison. You would have the CEO yelling at you asking how somebody else can do a way better job with less resources and disappear from the company in Max 3 months.
I only played diablow 1 a long time ago like over 23 years and then in 2006 I started wow. but dam I love how POE does the classes. It's almost like you are programing your own class. I can't wait to try druid.
Might have server issues? They sold through their pre-generated Steam EA keys and there is a week to go. Gonna need some server ramp. I really want a smooth launch.
when Diablo 3 was released on Switch, I got tired of waiting for my preorder and looked for a similar game to play, so I got POE. I rarely even touch Diablo 3 anymore beyond checking to see if any of the things I liked have been made permanent or not and then just going back to POE, cause at least in POE, the content I like more often than not becomes a part of the game in some shape or form. I prefer an ever evolving game, to a game that always changes it's sprinkles and frosting but ultimately nothing else changes, and always takes away the sprinkles and frosting you like and never lets you have it again.
To be honest: I remember, when in the dark old ages of hi-fi, the head of Linn Sondek (the maker of THE hi-fi vinyl turntable of the time) said, that he isn't scared about the competition, until everybody compares them to their product. So in a way Rod was right - Diablo had created the style, a genre, and IMHO for a long time this genre will be called as "Diablo-like". However, just like Roman emperors, if you think that just because you claim to be the descendant of Gods, you can't be dethroned by an usurper from the provinces, you are soooooo wrong.
If all D4 top streamers are talking about POE2 and start playing it, I would expect POE to become HUGE ! I would love that but at the same time i am concerned for my beloved game.
i was a diablo fan boy from d1 and 2 and d3 was a slight downfall and d4 was the last nail in the coffin im now all out of diablo and i wont play another diablo game im now fully invested in GGG and i will support them now in hope they keep the type of games i love alive
Respect for not just blindly hopping on the bandwagon - that take isn't really that outlandish, "Diablo-like" was already not that unusual to hear. The timing and the person who said it, and even just the way he said it, is just hilariously terrible lol
You know, I'm usually all for everyone should get along, different games for different people, etc., etc... But this shit is absolutely hilarious lmao. I'm also someone who was massively disappointed by D4, so Blizz being called out for the game being bad will hopefully make it better in the future.
If you watched PoE2 announcement and still want to play D4 thats fine its your taste but you dont want quality. Im so glad i didnt repeat my mistake of pre ordering D4 with the xpac and after seeing how it turned out glad i didnt waste the money.
All the time I said about PoE to the new players, I said: "PoE is the game that seems to be like Diablo 2" So the term Diablo-Like it is not wrong, but the timing he said it wasn't good.

Welcome Exile!
Get well soon Ziz!
Get well soon ziz, we need the ziz factor on launch day for POE 2....
Ziz always has fair takes, after following him for years its literally one of my favorite things about him. Dont always agree but he rarely has a bad take. I'm only worried about the servers, lol they are going to blow up, I know they have sold hella EA lol
Welcome to the RUclips Multiverse. POE2 is the new Tanos
I got D4 when it first came out, beat the campaign in 2 days, played the endgame for another 2 days got bored and quite. I really wanted to like it and I tried going back and playing it a couple times but just couldn't get into it. I just discovered PoE a couple weeks ago and that is all I've been playing. I can't wait for PoE2. Also Zizaran thanks for all the great videos helping new players get started in PoE, you rock 🤘
What is the original video? I've seen whoever made that video before but I don't know the content creator's name to look up/share the original video with my social circles
Loving that vid ^^
So fun to watch
Feel better, Ziz. Looking forward to seeing you blast POE2 come december 6th.
Pog!!! new ziz video! But at the end of the day it's still not december 6th....😭
4:00 The launch of Betrayal league was insanely funny too, right after the announcement of Diablo Mobile lmao.
Diablo comes out with the bare minimum to call it a game and charges upwards of $100, POE2 comes out packed with content and its FREE TO PLAY. More Exile-like games please.
Tbf from DiabloClone to DiabloLike to ExileLike
Sure that tweet wasn't an unhinged take, but to be fair, D2 was the last Diablo-like game Blizzard made, so it makes absolutely no sense regardless of timing or PoE. The whole scaling mechanic and item system they have since D3 has nothing to do with what made D1-D2 great.
Don't forget the comment from Chris of "We're not Diablo Immortal, nuff said".
At least you are sick now and not sick later.
"D4 has a near perfect endgame" is true. If you're a gaming journalist and only have 40 hours to play in order to finish your review.
I'm just surprised so many of them slept on PoE
Diablo Devs: We have a vision of what we want the game to be.
GGG: What do you guys want the game to be?
This is why one is winning and one is not.
I suggest you rest for a while Ziz. Take care Ziz. Get well soon
Might have server issues? They sold through their pre-generated Steam EA keys and there is a week to go. Gonna need some server ramp. I really want a smooth launch.
Towers of Aghasba is also early access and has more content than D4. Playing that over D4 until 6th 🫡
Content creators ready to make content
blizz is just corpa, GGG love what they do and it shows.
Ziz get well soon, we cant lose more of the lucid poe streamers.
when Diablo 3 was released on Switch, I got tired of waiting for my preorder and looked for a similar game to play, so I got POE.
We have Phys->Light->Cold->Fire->Chaos conversion, where D4 -> POE fits in that formula?
To be honest: I remember, when in the dark old ages of hi-fi, the head of Linn Sondek (the maker of THE hi-fi vinyl turntable of the time) said, that he isn't scared about the competition, until everybody compares them to their product. So in a way Rod was right - Diablo had created the style, a genre, and IMHO for a long time this genre will be called as "Diablo-like". However, just like Roman emperors, if you think that just because you claim to be the descendant of Gods, you can't be dethroned by an usurper from the provinces, you are soooooo wrong.
Sorry you aren't feeling well. At least you're getting it out of the way
GGG have indeed made something tremendous with PoE2: A good game.
If all D4 top streamers are talking about POE2 and start playing it, I would expect POE to become HUGE ! I would love that but at the same time i am concerned for my beloved game.
not even was there the joke of einhar, but they made a literal azurite mine when blizzard released wow bfa 😂
The roasting at 4:41 is brutal but right. I've been playing D2, D3, PoE and gave a try to D4. Man, how disappointing it was.
Front picture is dope
Let's not get cocky about the server stability...
i was a diablo fan boy from d1 and 2 and d3 was a slight downfall and d4 was the last nail in the coffin im now all out of diablo and i wont play another diablo game im now fully invested in GGG and i will support them now in hope they keep the type of games i love alive
I lost my mind when Ziz said " Rob looks like he runs really fast" lmao..holy shit that made my day.
100% the servers will burn on the 6th
blizzards so cooked they even put d2r release date for their new season as the 6th of December
I'm only 30 hours in on poe and I'm converted.
If you watched PoE2 announcement and still want to play D4 thats fine its your taste but you dont want quality. Im so glad i didnt repeat my mistake of pre ordering D4 with the xpac and after seeing how it turned out glad i didnt waste the money.
I think a major thing to do will be all the endgame bosses in poe2 i wanna beat them all
All the time I said about PoE to the new players, I said: "PoE is the game that seems to be like Diablo 2"
So the term Diablo-Like it is not wrong, but the timing he said it wasn't good.
Why can't this game be more like PoE? PoE-like will be the norm
I heard all Cookbooks are now Diablo-like
