This song is his best portrait of his family’s work ethic, “Non Stop”
Well said
That bass-line though!! ❤
😭❤❤❤
🔥 🔥
That's Maine on the Base right
Fire
This song foreshadowed what was about to come for Michael's solo career the next year with Off the Wall.
EXCELLENT !!!!!👑👑👑
"LETS DANCE, LETS SHOUT, SHAKE YOUR BODY DOWN TO THE GROUND" was inspired by Mr. Marvin Gaye's ad lib shout out "lets dance-lets shout--gettin funky what it's all about" in his smash hit and ever enduring tune 'Got To Give It Up'.
RIP Mr. Jackson and Mr. Gaye.
Yes!! You just transported me back to my teens. Both of these songs were incredibly popular at the Friday night dances at the Rec Center in my neighborhood. When they played them back to back we thought we’d hit the lottery. Then, follow up with Bounce, Rock, Skate, Roll by Vaughan Mason & Crew. We burned a lot of calories on the dance floor.
MJ ... the greatest entertainer in the world. He is sorely missed...
Mrs. Jackson's face when they performed this on their 25th Anniversary tv special. Priceless ❤️
Long live the King of Pop.
He's dead... technically.
@@principissodalis6864 : You MUST be a senseless....Gen Z'er!!🙄🙄🙄🙄
This is one of the best songs by the Jackson’s as a group
The album cover, the music, the vocals, the vibes, masterpiece

Too right.
💯🤍
Yup.
The bass line is my fave
mine too....I just turn it up and enjoy!
Me too. I love it
Fr
Amazing funky track!!! One of the best Jacksons' songs! Still a banger!!
My favorite since late '78/early '79 along with Blame It On The Boogie
Yes blame it on a boogie was the mfing truth🔥🔥🔥❤❤❤
The super duper Jacksons.
Man oh man these brothers are so special to me because you never get tired listening and dancing to them.
Show the way to Go, Jump for Joy, Shake your body down to the Ground and State of Shock these are my fav Jacksons classics.
RIP Brother Mike Jackson 58-09
Yes and can you feel it was one of my faves...blame it on a boogie was another one...these boys were truly talented and their music will forever burn radio stations ....they were the truth❤❤❤❤
Awesome.
I'm sure Mrs. Katherine Jackson is extremely proud of what her sons accomplished! And I'm really sure Joe Jackson is STILL smiling in his afterlife! The best family group in not just Black American Music but in ALL Music!
all of it was JOE Idea/vision, putting that family group together. and it was JOE who got them into Motown at the right time. and it was JOE who got them OUT of Motown at the right time. that move, getting them OUT of Motown. saved their careers. leaving Motown for Epic. Motown cut off the group royalties checks, trying to destroy them. Joe took the family to Las Vegas back in 1975/to do shows. to bring in revenue/money. saving their home in Encino/L.A. and pay other creditors...ALL JOE. he doesn't get enough credit, ALL BY HIMSELF.
There will NEVER again be music this amazing.
Sad but true. Nothing else comes close!
The Jacksons hit a grand slam with this 1978 old school jam which is still kickin' @$$ in 2023.
The last song the 6 brothers performed together in 2001. What a ride. My favorite Jacksons song.
No doubt about that
Yes so true I Remember and that performance was Epic and legendary this is definitely my favorite Jacksons song too I still love when the remaining 4 of the original Jackson 5 perform it and although MJ is missing Marlon still dances well and gives us that Jacksons magic
This is my favourite too!!!! Reminds me of my childhood, rollerskating indoors, listening to this on vinyl!
Michael xXxX love you💖 Ely xx xx xx
I will never forget 2001 at all. Not for a second
What a groove!!!!
That's what Barry White Says
The Jackson’s didn’t come to play with our time or ears with this groove! I don’t appreciate this jam like I should, that all ends today! Peace!
Its totally wrong, a mystery to me, how this awesome song was not a huge number one hit anywhere back in 1979, when its obviously the best damn song they ever made together.
It was still big though (Hot 100: #7)
Michael, There was A LOT of Jams on the Charts back in early 1979. Do Ya Think I'm Sexy. Rod Stewart. What A Fool Believe. The Dobbie Brothers. Too Much Heaven. By The Bee Gees/just to name a few...Shake Your Body Down To The Ground. #7 Pop, and # 3 R&B...NOT BAD. Matter of fact. That's Great.
It's one of the best pop funk songs ever. Nice mix of it, too.
It was number 4 here. Great track. Pax to all from soulboy73.Xxx.
Can you feel it?
C'mon Jackson Five!! Getting it in!! Years ago I was in the grocery store and this song came on. Well I started dancing and "shaking my money maker." I got my groove on so good I accidently grabbed someone's cart and she had to chase me down the aisle to get it back!! LOL!! Good memories! Great song! Let's Dance! Let's Shout! Shake Yo Body Down to the Ground! Peace out...
i love it
😂😂😂
Girl, please! Sounds totally FAKE! lol ijs
😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Oh no! Now I can't stop too!
My most favourite song.
I don’t think there’s one musician that gives off so much positive energy as MJ. Not one.
Their are some but he really is a positive loving guy. That’s what I loved about him.
Prince is awesome
Axl Rose lol, jk he’s the negative energy type
An opinion!!!! He was great 👍🏽… but that doesn’t take from other great artists
Actually I’ve never seen or heard of him Playing any 🎹…. So he is just a singer/entertainer….
This takes me back to a much better time.
This music is so magical, there is really nothing like it!
A fan of the Jackson 5 since I was a kid, I was a regular at their cartoons when they sang abc, when Michael launched Off the Wall I lived in Los Angeles, what a time!!!!!
What a groove and bass lineeee! 🤩
Oh yeessss...that bass line!!!
@@aishau5782 u should listen "Last train to London" by ELO, you'll die! what a bass line, is with a synthe, but woooowww!
The bass and the guitar just go so smooth together! I find myself humming both rhythms all day after hearing this 😁
The groove is alive in this track. This got played in a house rave I went to recently with a Slower beat changed with the vocals and the place went crazy!!
Just think what it was like for those of us who were Seniors in high school when this was released.
@@douglastrego5965 you were blessed. My mum was born in 1970 and got to see Mj in his prime. She went to the bad tour in 88 at Wembley aswell. She said it’s the greatest thing she’s ever witnessed. She framed her ticket from his performance there in July of that year.
I remember living in the projects in Brooklyn with the window open and it had to be like 11pm or 12 pm in the summer time and hearing that song being played by the older kids outside..I was like 7 years old...it was the very long version cause I remember the song lasting like 20 minutes...lol...I couldnt sleep but its cool....good memories
Cool memory 😎
From a 43 year old guy in Europe (I've been living between France & Portugal) who discovered THE King Of Pop with his anthem "Heal The World" & the Superbowl half-time spectacular, it's SOOOOO fascinating to hear music with A story before "Off The Wall"!!!..
Thank you. ❤
Awesome.
That piano riff and bass. Perfecto
One Of My Favorites From The Jacksons Shake Your Body Down To The Ground ❤🔥
This song and album were The Jacksons at their peak. Between Destiny and Triumph.
Off The Wall album by the King himself?
I will always love them ESPECIALLY MJ❣❣ KING OF POP!!! ALWAYS AND FOREVER ❣❣❣
Beautiful strings, amazing rhythm and Michael’s singing. Masterpiece.
When Michael Jackson died I remember that Congress had a moment of silence on the Congress floor. And also in Pakistan they held a candle light visual in honor of Michael Jackson and they hate America. But they love them some Michael Jackson though. Also in Brazil they did the Thriller dance in honor of Michael Jackson. All of this speak volumes of how big an artist this man was and there will never be another like him.
Here’s a fun fact ab this song: This is one of the first songs that MJ made on his own trying to become a solo artist. It was almost an absolute disaster, but the people in Epic Records managed to make it work. Unfortunately, Michael was forced by his family to perform one of his first original songs with The Jackson 5.
Where did you find this info? I would love to read up on it
100 percent fax
Fact=they weren't known as the"Jackson 5" then. They moved on to Epic while Jermaine remained at Motown. By this time they where simply known as The Jackson, and Randy had joined the group. All of them contributed to this song. It wasn't all about Michael.
@@hiltonturner9915 99% of the song started with michael and randy the rest just came along.
Well it definitely worked, because it ended up being a club banger, as well as bumping it in our cars full blast.
I cannot stop my body moving while this is on 💃🎶🎵❤️ childhood memories ❤️
Tito great on bass..
Salute. Keep going.
Did you shake it down to the ground though?
This is my Favorite Song 🎤💖💘
@@sheri226it don't count if you don't shake it right down to the ground.
New Yorkers like me know know how hard this track hit out here, and that's all that matters 🔥🔥🔥🗽
Talk about some memories!! These memories are way deep! As soon aa this song starts it takes me back to the best times! .
My favorite song of all time 🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵
OMG! What can I say?! The Jackson's are phenomenal! 🥰
A very good performance 👏 👌 👍 🙌 ❤ ✨ 👏 👌 👍 🙌 ❤ ✨ 👏 👌 👍 🙌 ❤
Were!
They had to be. If "Destiny" flopped, that was it. Epic was going to dump them. They were told that this was going to be their last chance, and they more than rose to the occasion.
I think the thing that made it the best of all their Epic albums was the same thing Janet found later: control. For once in their career, they finally had it, and they took full advantage of it. They didn't have Motown or Berry Gordy in their corner telling them what to do, what to sing, or anything like that. This was all theirs, they earned it.
If you're not tapping your feet and shaking your head to this one, seek help. L.O.L.
Shake Your Body! Love this song!
MICHAEL JACKSON IS THE BEST ARTIST EVER!!!
MY FAVEEEE SONGGGGG❤❤❤❤
Baseline is Everything. Love it 🤣😂☺️
Still an amazing song though. Whether Michael is singing as a soloist or with the Jackson 5, it’s always gonna be my jam! :)
Same
This album was released before thriller then Michael Jackson took over the music industry
...I just love how the Song just 'disintegrates', towards the end; It's got so much POWER, it just 'gives way', not just 'fade out'! ...ha-HAAA!!
The Jacksons Started To Get More Sophisticated They Used Earth Wind And Fire Arrangement And Horn Section To Up Sounds 🙏☺️❤️
WHO ELSE LOVES HOW MICHAEL SAYS DANCE (DANZZAH) THAT ALONE MAKES YOU FALL IN LOVE❤❤❤❤
This song brings back a lot of good memories
Shake your body down to the ground lets dance 💃 🎶
November 8, 1979 at Nassau Coliseum. My first Jacksons concert. Off The Wall had just come out. LTD (featuring Jeffrey Osborne) was the opening act. This was the final song in their set. Michael said “break it down” right at the 6:22 point on this recording. They DEMOLISHED that place y’all ! I had just turned 15 years old. Fortunately, there is video footage from that very show on RUclips. Accompanied by clips from a segment 20/20 did on them, which aired in early 1980. One of those defining nights in your youth that you never, ever forget. With all due respect to the success of Thriller, I prefer the days of the Destiny Tour and the Triumph Tour.

I hear you. Your experience is quite special...
Crazy ✌🏽
Still the JAM....I love when the handclaps come in, towards the end & the bass at the end!!☺️

This was my favorite club song back in the day.
💃🏽🕺🏽
you, and a couple more millions club song/BACK IN THE DAY. just turning 11 when it came out. this was my front room club song/LOL
Ditto. It was one of the integral songs in my social ‘coming out’. I was an extremely shy 15 year old. I would go to the weekly Friday night dances at the community center, but just stand on the wall. One night I stood to close to the speakers and various body parts just started to move to the sound of the beat, next thing you know- I’m dancing. I was totally addicted. My little crew and I went out several nights a week, including school nights.
8 minutes of perfection
Best Song Ever

The section starting at 6:22 is the closest the 70s ever got to sounding like the 80s.
......"And you do know that I love it"........"And you do know that I want chaaaa"
Relates to his passion for music, the people listening and grooving, our own personal love affairs and much more.

Horn section! Brass adds class
On his 30th or 35th Anniversary Show, Michael Jackson and his brothers still have the rhythm dance to this song. But you know that the King of Pop blasted off with his moves leaving Jermaine, Tito, Marlen and Jackie in his tracks.
