I'm glad that you give the objective historical and archaeological versions of these great Jerusalem sites. For any religion to claim definitively that a site is absolutely where the Last Supper happened, or where King David is buried, is only conjecture without absolute proof. I prefer to appreciate that all these sites are located in a general area, on many levels above and below ground. It's just too bad that religious extremists refuse to compromise and think their version is the only correct one.

Liked it! But (as an archaeologist) you should have shown the lower layers of the outside walls and the theory, that they might be of Herodian origin (secondary use) and the whole building (maybe) an early judeo-christian church/synagoge. At least the lowest floor level some 70cm below todays level is clearly from second temple period. AND thurthermore: that the whole complex is not oriented towards the temple, but towards golgotha. Long story short: the existing building itself is not that interesting. But the history behind it is!
I agree the lower part of David’s cenotaph is oriented towards the Holy Sepulchre, but I am not certain at all that it is first century architecture. Nevertheless you are right that this theory could have been mentioned.
You forgot to mention, the state of Israel illegally seized the lower part of the building from the Franciscans and gave it to the Jews. Catholics located the site traditionally known as David's tom. The entire building was one Church building belonging to the Catholic Church. if you dig under the site you'll find the original upper room site, the church has a tradition of building over the original sites.
It was the Ottomans who evicted the Franciscans from the site, already in 1550, and turned it into a mosque. Israel redeemed the complex in 1948 and made it open for all religions. That is its status to this day. And I have no idea how you decided that beneath the structure is the original site of the last supper. It is mere speculation.
You present sites designated as important then you cast doubt. What’s the message here ? We recognized that the architecture is not Christ-ancient, but we assume that a roof would not stay in place for 2000 years. What if the earthquake you talked about damaged it or it was damaged in the wars throughout the 2k period ???
Jesus not only predicts that the entire Temple complex would be destroyed, including it's perimeter walls ( the Western wall was not part of the Temple complex 600 by 600 ft but a parallel wall about 300 feet more west) in Matthew 24:1-2 "...There shall not be left here one stone upon another ..." but Jesus predicts in Luke 19:41-44 that not one stone would be left upon another in the entire city of Jerusalem above the ground level "... when He ... beheld the city ... Saying ... thine enemies ... shall lay thee even with the ground ... and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another ...". Josephus comments that when the destruction was done, you could not tell that a city had ever been there. I say all this to point out that the upper room would not have survived the destruction, even if the early church before the destruction, had marked the place as the place where the event happened. There were probably many such rooms throughout the city for this yearly event. Secondly, the early church was on the run from the Jews and it would not be likely that any of the significant sites would have been marked as such for fear of being found by the Jews. Only the places associated with known bedrock prophetic landmarks would survive to be found such as the place of the skull and the pool of Siloam and the Hezekiah tunnel etc. All the walls were removed to their foundations except for the far west wall by the camp of the Romans, though this wall was also taken down at some later point. It seems to me that the celebrated Western wall would have had stones of the same size for asthetic reasons except for a few very large outstanding stones. It seems to me that even the entire lower portion of the wall was reconstructed at a later date with whatever stones were left in the area after it had been dismantled in the 70 AD destruction or the 132 AD destruction. However, not being part of the 600 by 600 ft Temple Complex, it may have survived below the current ground level, as Luke 19 seems to maybe allow for. Whatever the case, it is nice that people have built beautiful sites commemorating key events of Jesus and of Christianity and of Jewish history, helping us to focus on these things in an appreciative manner. God is truly preparing the hearts of the Jewish people these days for a wonderful harvest of Jewish souls in the midst of what is going to be very trying days.
