    I'd gotten to a point where my seizures were controlling my life. I was always getting seizures near the oven and ending up with second degree burns. Twice, I ended up needing stitches on my head after my falling and banging my head on a corner of a desk at work during a seizure. I couldn't leave home without ending up in the hospital. I had a seizure while ironing clothes, and put a hot, steaming iron on my leg, leaving a third degree burn. It was honestly the best seizure I had in my life. I say that because that seizure influenced me to go forward and tell my doctor that I wanted the surgery he had talked to me about for some time (temporal lobectomy). I felt relieved when he fully agreed with me.
    I had a few tests at The Montreal Nuerolgical Hospital, and they found I was an excellent candidate for the surgery. Thanks to Dr. Thomas G. Staunton, his colleagues in Montreal, and their technology, I haven't had a seizure since February 8, 1991. I still take medication, but at least it's less than before, and more important, it WORKS now!

    I had a lobotomy ( Left , main gyrus) in 1985 and came out 100 % , no meds , no side effects , retained everything and lost nothing except the seizures. Thanks to Prof. John Oxbury ( Neurologist ) , his wife Susan ( clinical psychologist) and Mr Adams , the surgeon at the old Radcliffe infirmary on Banbury Rd , Oxford , England. It is a true blessing . I would love to meet some others who have had the same.

      @@abdulhafizsuleiman4556 Find out from your neurology prof. what can be done and what are the statistics of losing any functions or your life. The statistics should be in the 90s percentage with less or any side effects. Now things are more advanced than in 1985 when the statistics were 3 out of 10 died and the 70 % who lived was based on heartbeat only , namely , coma , paralysis of the opposite side of the body , loss of short or long term memory , loss of direct or indirect vision , loss of ability to learn any more languages or words other than those learned before the operation etc etc . I was getting 300 to 400 seizures per year on medication. So I prayed for years and found the answer and the courage in the Valley of Desolation ( in South Africa )where I was hitch-hiking at 18 , looking for a job as a shepherd. I had just left a private boarding school a few months before and was homeless and hungry and had no chance getting a menial job in the city. People were afraid of employing me. When I learned about it from a driver who gave me a lift , I turned around and went back to my prof. and arranged it . I travelled 65 countries backpacking and hitch hiking since then and learned 3 more languages . Also I fell in love 2 years later for the first time and never looked back since then. I wish you success in achieving a positive outcome.

      @@michaellawson6533 did you had a normal MRI? My son's seizures are not in control and he gets daily seizure but his MRI is normal. Hence for surgery, lengthy procedure is required to find out the source of seizure

    • @michaellawson6533
      @michaellawson6533 2 года назад

      @@VishalPatel-ns3py I dont know if we had MRI in 1985 but whatever the outcome of the tests they did , it showed clearly the location that caused the seizures. I had petit mal seizures , sometimes 6 a day on medication , and after a few days it would go away and give me a 10 day to 2 weeks break and then return for 4 or 5 days . I had auras of varying intensities throughout the day everyday and never knew which one would be the full seizure until afterwards when i had recovered.
      You have to go through all the necessary tests to find out the source of the seizures . Once that is done then the Neurologist should be able to give you the options available to reduce them or if an operation is possible. Not everyone can have the operation and one of the determining factors is how deep it is and its location. If too deep and many millions of nerves must be cut then that will affect the performance of that part of the body , or the thought process for which it is responsible , possibly terminating any future performance for which it was there to serve. I hope you find the source of the seizures as well as a cure.

    Maybe the neurologists should ALL be updated on this surgery. I had attended a hospital in Belfast for YEARS with zero effect from anti seizure meds.(over 6,000mg daily) It wasn't until my Neuro retired and I got a new one, and it was he who suggested the surgery. It was the BEST THING EVER. To be seizure FREE and DRUG free, I was given a new lease of LIFE.

      @@bravo3469 As I said I had the surgery done in Belfast Northern Ireland. Was born having a Grand Mal but from the age of 7 they returned as petit Mal over 6,000 daily mgs of meds - with ZERO reduction. Surgery was the only solution and had it in Feb 1991.

      @@bravo3469 I was born having a Grand Mal seizure then NOTHING until I was 7, then they returned as 'Petit'- Mal. Had them until surgery at 31. I could have gone 6 weeks without one but then it was almost guaranteed that i would have had 3 the next day, so on average 1 every 2 weeks for almost 25 years.

      @Colin Ross . I had mine in 1985 in Oxford and can fully relate to the life change you mentioned. I used to get petit mal , between 300 and 400 per year , only I had a free gap of about 10 days and then 5 days of seizures , up to 6 a day . Six months after my op I was weaned off my medication and never looked back . What a blessing it is . Im so glad each time I hear of others who have a life change like this.
