I'd gotten to a point where my seizures were controlling my life. I was always getting seizures near the oven and ending up with second degree burns. Twice, I ended up needing stitches on my head after my falling and banging my head on a corner of a desk at work during a seizure. I couldn't leave home without ending up in the hospital. I had a seizure while ironing clothes, and put a hot, steaming iron on my leg, leaving a third degree burn. It was honestly the best seizure I had in my life. I say that because that seizure influenced me to go forward and tell my doctor that I wanted the surgery he had talked to me about for some time (temporal lobectomy). I felt relieved when he fully agreed with me. I had a few tests at The Montreal Nuerolgical Hospital, and they found I was an excellent candidate for the surgery. Thanks to Dr. Thomas G. Staunton, his colleagues in Montreal, and their technology, I haven't had a seizure since February 8, 1991. I still take medication, but at least it's less than before, and more important, it WORKS now!

My little son is epileptic. He's also a non verbal autist, therefore, he can't express himself and this kinda makes it all worse, so to speak. I admire that you, as a well succeeded woman decided to share with the world your experience and help to open minds for the fact that people who suffers from epilepsy should not be stigmatized. Instead, they need support and comprehension from their family and the whole society. All the best, from Brazil.

High humidity and low atmospheric pressure is the reason why people get seizures! I found out because my previous seizure was during when the hurricane and I googled it and found out. And you are either in jolly old England or Pakistan with high humidity and low atmospheric pressure. Gotta move to Las Vegas, NV or Palm Springs, CA

Hi Rigo, great question! Please keep in mind that this information I am providing now are the laws in the Canadian province of British Columbia. If you live in another part of Canada, the United States, or another part of the world, please note that driving laws may differ depending on your specific province, state, or country. Also, British Columbia has two classes of drivers licenses: Private Drivers (Class 5-8) or Commercial Drivers (Class 1-4) so this may be different depending on your specific province, state, or country. In British Columbia, if you have epilepsy, you must be seizure free for at least six months on medication before you can get your Class 5-8 License. In British Columbia, if you have epilepsy, you must be seizure free on or off medications for at least five years with the support of your neurologist before you can get your Class 1-4 License. I hope this information helps! You can visit www.bcepilepsy.com for more information.
