These kids have a full day at school, they then go to an extremely boring meeting, and then when they get home they have to get lectured by the parents - just let the kids go to bed. I feel sorry for these kids. Oh, wait, that was my life growing up as a JW. I am now 65 years old and still recuperating from the trauma of growing up a JW.

I remember getting home from the meetings at 10pm at night - all my siblings fast asleep in the car and my parents having to carry them to bed. 2 nights a week, week after week. It was ridiculous. They do not care about children.

The fact that they _know_ how a child will naturally act and they still want to make them feel bad about that is horrific. They know that a child will get bored in such a meeting, and yet they'll take that and twist it as if that's the child's fault. For wanting to play and/or rest after a tiring day at school. Gaslighting and abuse, all shown in a cute cartoonish way.
Side note, as a musician I am appalled that those shorts actually have a soundtrack that fits what's happening on screen. Like, they have composers and sound engineers that are good enough to do such a job - create a fitting soundtrack that's not horrible MIDI straight from MuseScore - and they do it for indoctrinating children videos. Those videos are an abomination whatever way you view them from.

Oddly enough, the JW cult arbitrarily decided that the countless references to Hell as a lake of fire and place of eternal torment are all entirely figurative, and that "Hell" just means "the common grave of mankind" where everyone goes when they die, and only JWs can avoid it, specifically by being a JW when Armageddon comes. Everyone else dies during Armageddon, slaughtered by angels, including Governing Body members (the heads of the cult) and all other "Anointed", who are part of the 144,000 who get to go to heaven and become angels in the armies (choirs) of Jehovah. Why they couldn't ALSO decide that the equally or even more absurd bits found in Genesis weren't metaphorical too is beyond me.

That has always been the creationist means of explaining human biodiversity. Shem is where we get the term "Semites", like the Jews and Arabs, so he is supposed to be their progenitor. Japheth is supposed to be the progenitor of the whites. And Ham is supposed to be progenitor of black people. The Medieval people that came up with these specifications (these details aren't in the Bible) didn't really know how many racial groups there are and just tried making it work with the three sons of Noah. I suppose Indians could also be called "Hamitic", I'm not sure. Mongoloid people groups don't really seem accounted for in this scheme, nor are Australasians. We still use the term "Hamitic" for the group of languages that contains the Berber and Egyptian languages as well, which are grouped with the Semitic languages to form one of mankind's primary language families, the Hamo-Semitic languages.

My congregation HATED JWs; whenever the topic was brought up, it was always argued that "they're not actually Christian", "they force you to give up all your property to the church", "they abuse children", "their interpretation of the bible is garbage", "it's wrong how they try to convert people to their culty religion" etc....
Watching these videos is helping me realize that my Evangelist congregation growing up was EXACTLY like the JWs. All the messages in their propaganda are the same. All the abuse is the same. They're just saying "Jehovah" instead of "God".
The interpretation of The Word might have some major differences, but the trauma it leaves behind is all too similar, and I think this is important to recognize.

Christian here… yeah this is what’s wrong with the modern church. To start off JW isn’t actually Christianity, it has many different things about it’s beliefs that differ in a fundamentally major way from
Christianity. And the entire manipulative way that this show goes about doesn’t do anything for kids except make them hate God because of the way their misguided parents showed him. It’s honestly terrible, and many Christian churches do the same thing unfortunately. The way for people to know Christ is to share about him, and act as he does to draw people in ON THEIR OWN accord and not manipulate them into “believing” simply because of a incoming damn nation to hell. While that definitely is a true part of where we go after we die (going to hell if they don’t believe) that is not something to use as a weapon to convince them to come to Jesus. It is both fake for them because they come only out of fear, and is manipulative from Christians and is unChristlike. Fr though these videos are a great example of how a lot of modern churches will just take the easy (and harmful) route of threatening their kids with the idea eternal suffering instead of investing in them as Christ would.

I'm not religious or anything even though I was raised in a Jewish home, but as far as the Noah story it's pretty interesting to consider the fact that the story is shared through pretty much every religion has their own version of the great flood story. It's not really proof it happened, but the fact that so many have their own story about it makes it seems a little bit more than a coincidence. That being said you're definitely right about not using the story to scare kids into submission.

@@kollekciorozsdas6110 yeah, but each one about a flood that destroyed the world and someone being given instructions from a higher power to bring 2 of each animals to save their lives. Again I'm not trying to argue whether or not it's true, but I'm just trying to point out that it's interesting how so many different religious cultures have a similar story in regards to a "great flood" happening and someone building an ark that they then fill with animals. Obviously it's beyond unlikely the story is true as there's no way someone could create a giant ark and gather up 2 animals of each kind of like that only to then somehow ensure they all breed and reestablish a healthy population of their species, but that doesn't make it any less interesting how multiple cultures share this story.
It's kind of like how multiple cultures around the worlds that have never had any contact somehow end up developing their own versions of similar myths. Such as a flying lizard that can breathe fire, or in other words, dragons essentially. It's just one of those interesting mysteries of the world that is very difficult to find a definitive answer to why things are that way even with the advanced understanding that exist in present day. That being said I'm not trying to argue for faith or anything as I value science over religion, but the point I'm making is there's still so much that society really doesn't have answers for so it's best to be open to the possibilities when there's not enough evidence to say one way or the other.

It may not be specific instructions from a higher power to save 2 of each animals in an ark built in a specific manner, but there are similarities between them all. Again it's perfectly fine to assume that's just how people would observe floods in those days, but at the same time it's not something that can be stated as fact backed by evidence. To say the least I'm not an expert on the subject nor am I going to take an extreme amount of effort to try to research all the different stories to point out the exact connections. I'm just trying to point out there are connections, and while it's not evidence of the great flood existing, it's something that is intriguing as there is not enough evidence to explain it beyond making assumptions that may or may not be correct. Anyways at this point it seems we're just going to be going around in circles so there's not much to say than what's already been said.

I'm not 100% clear on the stats here, I'm just shooting from the hip.
But firstly, for clarification, while the rainfall was important during the Flood story, it wasn't the only source of flooding. The Bible also mentions "the fountains of the deep", as if the earth itself was opening and gushing out. I'm not clear on this number if it were converted into feet over the earth's surface, but bout 30% of the Earth's current freshwater supply, an estimated almost 3 million trillion gallons, is currently in the form of groundwater. Again, I don't know how this would affect the stats if you spread that water across earth's surface, but it's worth mentioning that rain wasn't the exclusive cause of the flood.
I also don't know how exactly how the topography of the earth would have changed from the Flood even until now, or if it would even affect the outcome, but it's pretty widely believed by people who believe in the worldwide Flood event that the earth would have looked drastically different, particularly with an absence of mountains and canyon, as those are believed (by proponents of the Flood) to have been formed during the catastrophic event itself.
The Bible also mentions the water covering the earth by 15 cubits, which would be roughly 22 feet, but it's unclear whether this is 22 feet as a rough average (assuming things like mountains and canyons are present) or 22 feet above the highest point of the earth at the time. (While not the same thing, since the entire planet is not at sea level, I found it interesting that NASA reports that, if the polar ice caps all melted, the sea level would rise by about 23 feet.)

Two 4-hour meetings a windowless dark building in the week? Kids are meant to fidget, to walk around. How can a kid be expected to sit on a cold hard bench listening to uninteresting things, no breaks, no snacks, no toys for HOURS on end? They're children. Then go home and be told any little thing they will do will send to a place of eternal suffering and darkness including talking to non-religious friends, playing with toys in church, laughing- being kids.

Funny story, I work at a car wash, and I was at the kiosk one day (one of my jobs is selling fast passes to people so they could pay monthly instead of having to buy a single wash every time). One of the customers who pulled up happened to be a Jehovah's Witness, and he gave me a card with a phone number on it. My head was filling up with certain choice words, but I decided not to say any of them and politely declined his offer. I was working, after all.

Do most Christians actually believe the flood story was a real historical event? My mother is Christian and she always presented the story to us as like a fairytale. I know there are very religious people (the kind who think science is evil) who believe it really happened but I thought that was a rare belief.

JW is really bad, but tbh some are a lot more harmful like the extremist sexism in Islam combined with some followers being militants. Also the caste system in hindu that forces some people to be extremely impoverished and discriminated against for their whole lives.

fr.. i grew up in a christian household. My whole childhood, i was taught that christianity is "the only correct religion" and that "everyone else's religion is not real and they've been brainwashed." it really messed with my brain because i was taught to be hateful to people who weren't christian and forced what i thought i believed onto others.
unless a child asks to be taken to church or taught about any religion, parents should let kids be kids and not let them worry about what may happen after death or what religion is the "correct" religion, because who knows all of them could be real or correct and it just depends what you believe in :3
