Thanks to whom ever shared this recording. I was there. Crazy energy there that night. Vivid memory of when the house lights went out right before U2 took the stage. Playing on the house speakers was the Beatles, I saw Her Standing There. Everyone in our section was singing word for word in unison. U2 was the biggest the band in the world, at least for this night.
I was there. I remember that they weren’t scheduled to play this concert originally. There was a massive petition to beg them to come. The petition was in all the record stores. Wow… they did. I think they wanted to play in Nashville but couldn’t make it fit. So off to Murphreesboro we went.
I was at this show with my good friend Stephen. We drove from Oak Ridge TN to Murfreesboro at MTS Arena. Middle Tennessee State. We actually bought tickets at the ticket booth for $18.50 and ended up 8th row center stage! U2 in those days held tickets back for day of the show as they knew many would drive to see them from far away! November 28th 1987...two days after Thanksgiving. I’ll never forget it...The Best Tour of the Best Album in U2’s History! I had FAITH my friend and I would see this show in this tour! I remember 40 was not performed again after this tour until 2005. Thanks for one of the most memorable nights of my life! I was 19!
@@pamelarollins118I was there, only 14 years old, a freshman in HS, my best friend was 2 years older and able to drive, we drove from Hendersonville to Murfreesboro with another friend, best show of my life, that experience is still with me today. Amazed to discover this recording.
Attendance : 11,619 (P) (sellout) Support : The BoDeans U2 do an extensive soundcheck and rehearse Red Hill Mining Town which they have never performed in concert . Larry has trouble remembering the drum track and claims he has to relisten to the song in order to play it. She''s a mistery to me is rehearsed once more but doesn't make it to the set. This concert is added to the tour itinerary at the very last moment and is U2's first Tennessee show since they supported The J.Geils Band in 1982 . While in Tennessee , the band stop by Elvis Presley's Graceland estate and film their visit for inclusion in the movie. The experience inspired Bono to sing a quick , acoustic version of the Elvis classic, Can't help falling in love. The audience sing and sway to the romantic song. People get ready enjoys another guest appearance . "From The Judds, will you welcome Wynonna to take my guitar." Waynonna plays and sings along as she doesn't know the lyrics Bono has guide her through the song. There are now four days off during which U2 record new tracks at Sun Studio in Memphis. I was there, a student at Middle Tennessee State University. One of the most memorable concerts I have ever seen in my life. Almost spiritual.

Nick this is great information I didn’t even know! I guess after the sessions in Memphis they headed to Miami as that was the next tour stop!
The first live performance of Can't Help Falling In Love.

Any chance you have 40 in its entirety on this performance? Just to bad to have it fade out.
