- Comedian Jerry Seinfeld reflects on his early love of comedy, sharing how as a child he would write down jokes he liked from watching TV, and shares he would have loved to be a cartoonist. He elaborates on his rise to fame by discussing meeting Jackie Mason, blanking on stage in his first show at Catch a Rising Star, and the opportunity to appear on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.

Jerry can really paint a picture in your mind. What an excellent storyteller. Super inspiring too
The part about his friend telling him he could do standup really struck me. Sometimes all we need is for someone to tell us they think we can do something and it gives us permission to put ourselves out there.
Also makes you think of the importance of praise and support from family and friends. Imagine how many more people with talent would pursue their dreams if they grew up with a circle rooting for them. For a majority of people, it’s the opposite
@@michaelmacri2119But then in another clip he said don’t praise your kids lol.
@@vantage789 also true lol. It’s a thin line for sure
Very very disciplined in his lifestyle and has the time and finances to support it-shows what is possible when everything done right
Love Jerry’s note on feeling he had no talent, making $60 a week and one person said “I bet you could do that” standup comedy thing and the internal switch flipped ON
He is really smart.. One of the best
I saw that Tonight show in 1981, and I knew Jerry was a star! So thrilled when he got his own show. Who knew‼️😅😂🤣
4:20 critically important. for everyone in life. have someone give you the permission so you can search the entire pantry of your talents and abilities. story is everything. and your story should be, you can do anything, at least try.
He is such a talented man!!!
cute hearing Jerry talking about his daughter
Seinfeld is just a story of a standup comedian telling his life stories. Which makes it so brilliant.
Fun to hear about how hard he worked on his craft, even from his youth. Developing a capacity for sustained hard work is the magic sauce average people overlook
Graham: On par with excellence.
This is such an interesting interview!! 👏👏
My favorite show on RUclips
My daughter said that’s Barry the Bee
You let her watch Bee movie?
You monster.
It's actually Jerry The Jew.
Jerry talks about standup comedy like no one else. If anybody has the slightest curiosity about getting into standup, they should listen to Jerry Seinfeld interviews.
Could you just put the full interview up? Is that do hard?
As a fan of the Arto of interviewing I'm going to say this interview is one of the all time greats.
Excellent. Thank you. I liked and subscribed. : )
I noticed Graham didn't say he liked the movie but it's not "oscar" material, it's a fun movie about poptarts, silly and light. We all need more laughs and I look forward to it. Great interview
Something about Jerry rubs me the wrong way, but I appreciate his talk about the focus and commitment involved.
I’m a huge Jerry fan. But he is very matter of fact. You can’t change his mind. I can see how people get rubbed the wrong way
@@psilva2462No...it's because of his pride.
Same, something insufferable about him but I adore him simultaneously
Most comedians are insufferable in one way or another. He gives no fucks. Intimidating but admirable.
Some say he's about OCD with his routine, neatness etc. I've heard him talk about things but nothing comes to mind now. He obviously wants everything to be as perfect as he can be and I respect that but it can make your feel down when you can't control it.
2:50 - aquarium reference
He did what to it...2:28 ...HE ANALISED IT...wow, I must try that.
I always thought Jerry was gay, not that there's anything wrong with that
Fuckin guy looks incredible for 70 years old
money.
Sobriety too
Just had a FUE hair transplant
Yeah wow
Wild that he’s 70. Feel like he looks the same as he did 15 years ago
Worlds best analogies
He would've been a great memelord.
You did us great Jerry. Thanks. Just dont do us like Cosby
Next time use a boom mic on this guy lol
I would go, “This guy’s not funny.” 💀
And people say watching TV is a waste of time. Every comedian I’ve admired seems to have engrossed themselves in it.
Who was the kid that told him he could do it??
Hes literally one of maybe 20 people in terms of his accomplishments. Out of 340 million in terms of the American dream and of course 9 billion. Thats pretty interesting.
1:10 - So he just hears his dummy story and moves on.
Jerry Seinfeld. What a nice guy.
This going to be on Apple TV too like Logan’s interview ?
Jerry Seinfeld is the ringo starr of comedy
Or the John
100%
I was thinking more of the Jim Dandy of comedy
How about being anointed by Jackie Mason himself (in the most cynical way).
Jerry, do you respect wood?
what about weed? weeds be legals now
What's the deal with hair plugs? They're not real plugs and don't even look like hair.
- cue Seinfeld theme -
Bensinger doesn't do good segues. Seinfeld is talking about something and then Bensinger jumps to something else entirely like he's not even listening--unless, of course, some stuff was edited out before air.
Dude was funny for 5 years 25 years ago.
I'd say 5 minutes, which he calls a "tight five".
He does very well with sold out crowds, etc and his tickets aren't cheap. Might not be everyone's cup of tea but comedy is a flavor like icecream
@@deb9806 what
He has been successful for decades. Just because you don't like him, doesn't mean he's not funny or successful.
@@thegentlelivingchannel Well, I've been on stand-up comic for many years and I've worked in the industry. I can personally tell you that Seinfeld is usually the butt of the joke for being vanilla and boring "comedy" that panders to the lowest common denominator. But I'm sure you know exactly what you're talking about from your profession that has nothing to do with comedy.
Graham should have brought up the hair transplant. Why not? Everything on the table
Eh who cares
@@fluffyclouds555 Jerry had so many hair and bald bits. It would only be right to talk about it
Why he kept pushing depression like he wanted an exclusive on something Jerry has talked about before, we all have down days and depression at times. Kept wanting him to say more about his childhood but he was honest, not everyone has to be "tragic". Jerry has a good healthy ego, always had and deep down most comedians didn't start that way. He knows what he's good at and what he isn't.
@deb9806 I hear ya. This was not Grahams best
I'm votin' for Trump.
Jerry's good, Larry David is better.
Larry needed Jerry to make it big. Larry couldn't get past piasinf off club crowds, lol. He knows that, he's talked about it.
Two shady shady shady men
Too bad you'll never get to tell him that:) He has no idea you think that, yet it takes up valuable space in your head that you can use for other more important things.
What makes you think that?
I think you are on the wrong blog.
@@jack-uv6mt Is that how you think heads work? lol
@@terri6854 No, I don't literally think the guy will run out of space in his brain because he hates jerry seinfeld.
Everything he says is a moan
Will someone please tell seinfield that he’s not that great
No. He is one of my faves.
That may be your opinion but he did create the flat out best situation comedy television show in American history. One of the all time most successful situation comedy television shows in American history and perhaps the most groundbreaking situation comedy television show in American history. Compared to what you have done… sounds pretty great to me. Being jealous and envious… not that great of a trait.
I’m told his standup is amazing when geared towards young edgy adults. The standup he does for the olds and the Orthodox Jews is probably what you’re use to.
The drake is great
Get over yourself. Any modern observational comedy has Seinfeld to thank.
