How Cane Beat Lorenzo & The Next Move Explained | Power Book II: Ghost Season 3

- In Power Ghost Season 3 Episode 3, Cane Tejada learned that Lorenzo was the one who killed Zeke, he tortured the pilots of Mecca and was able to get an exact description which matched Lorenzo, as well as a broken tail light. Cane was able to put two and two together and now in his words, he owns Lorenzo Tejada. So in a change for Cane from Power Ghost's previous seasons, we saw him be a lot more strategic and calculated with the way he approached this situation, a situation which ended Ghost Season 3 Episode 2 with Cane owning Lorenzo, but that's not all. In this video I break down the relationship between Cane & Effie, Dru, Tariq and Brayden and why Effie could be Cane's next move in Power Book 2 Ghost Season 3 going forward.

I don’t blame Cane for his anger and his desire to “claim the throne”. Both Monet and Lorenzo have kept Cane in a box and only used him to kill and torture. That hug from Cane to Lorenzo is payback for Lorenzo’s hug before Cane got beat up by the guards. The roles have definitely turned for Lorenzo and Cane.
Let’s not forget he was raised as a killer while dru was raised as a good boy it’s crazy why Lorenzo wants Dru to take over Dru clearly doesn’t want it.

Lorenzo sent Cane to find Zeke’s killer because he didn’t believe he could figure it out. He’s always underestimated Cane’s ability and now it backfired on him. I’m thinking at some point Cane will kill Lorenzo to keep up with the Power theme of Tariq and Ghost along with Kanan and Howard (even though Kanan was unsuccessful) and It will be ordered by Monet.
Cane can't and hasn't been able to outthink Tariq and it bugs him, even has own mother is willing to sacrifice him, everyone knows Cane tends to let emotions rule his actions
@Greatone 2 maybe true in past seasons but you can definitely tell that Cane has learned some things from Mecca that will help influence his decision making.

Cane playing chess this season. He’s the only Tejada that is showing his worth, hunger to be a leader, and proving it. His character arc is showing up expeditiously and is a necessary chaos in the show. Lorenzo been locked up too long if he doesn’t see this and this is why he now works for the son that he only seen as a “soldier”. Lorenzo shows favoritism towards his kids, having Diana go to the school she wants, positioning Dru when he really isn’t ready and so I’m glad Cane is showing what’s he’s capable of. I also like how Cane helped Tariq out with the body. I thought I was the only one that thought Cane was gonna just leave like y’all got it. He is showing growth for sure. Him and Effie teaming up might cause some serious problems though down the road. Everything eventually comes out on Power.

Seeing how they're setting things up this could end up being the greatest season of Power... There's sooooooooo much going on and it's all connected. This season has started off perfectly.

Yeah Ghost told Tariq this but when you look at the full scope, Ghost deep down like most parents, wanted Tariq to be better than he ever was. He did a lot to try and shield Riq from this life to be better than he was. Parents should want their kids to evolve & be better than them. I think it’s just how Tariq go about doing it that bothered ghost. He knew Tariq was smarter than him but he didn’t want him to embrace the lifestyle. He wanted riq to be “smarter than him” at something else other than the drug game. Ghost didn’t walk into a million at age 20-21 after college like Riq is about to so I think he do want riq to be better
I do think that the hug was the final hug as his son, before he officially became his owner. especially the prison scene in season 1, where Lorenzo comforted and consoled Cane & then had his ass beat right after

Its subtle details like that that makes the writing so damn good.
I'm not surprised by Cane's development, he's been my guy from season one, there's always this edge and swag that he has that makes everything interesting. I would love to see Effie and Cane hook up at least one time but there might be some connection between Effie back story and Cane

Cane never had a real mentor and learned the game street from the streets . Once Cane met Mecca, Mecca was to Cane as Breeze was to Kanan and this made Cane more dangerous because Mecca showed Cane how to manipulate the situation and how to get people under his thumb.

Cane is improving but I’m just waiting to see Tariq vs Cane. Which will probably happen in the later seasons. Tariq doesn’t know Cane was also involved in the attempt to kill Lauren. So I think once he finds out he won’t just go after Cane like that. He’ll probably pull a Ghost move and One up him. Would love to see Cane find out who Ghost really is.

I like Cane character's growth this season, being around Mecca really benefited him.
I'm back and following you this season....WELL DONE AGAIN. Cane has the looks, coy/flaunt/aggressive/vindictive and sometimes charming. I believe he can rise from this series into more extraordinary roles. His character has evolved tremendously as has Braden. I'm not sure Tariq is keeping up and he's flowing with emotions a bit too easily. Look how Braden CONTROLLED him ... is he becoming a PUPPET? 😮😮

I’m finding it confusing who’s the “leader” of this organisation now though, as tariq brayden cane Effie are all in the mix and then you have dru monet Lorenzo etc below them it seems, surely at some point one will be given the lead role from noma? Like ghost was the one who was leading for lobos
cane likes to be in charge, the issue is, cane rarely is the person ppl go to when things go left, when cane is in trouble he calls ma, ma calls riq, riq doesnt care about the title, he cares about solving the issues that stand in his way, everyone comes to riq, for solutions.
in season 1, riq creates coursecorrect, monet uses it to move their business from the streets out in the open to covert and behind the shadows, the need for soldiers isnt needed if your not beefing over turf, cause you have a monopoly of it. cane tries to get rid of riq, and ends up making things worse, setting up the major issues in season 2.
in season 2, lorenzo gets out, and pushes cane and monet out of the game, they both need money to pay davis, they both come to riq, to robbed mecca, riq, comes up with the plan to get the stash and cash. when mecca, locks cane in his penthouse, cane calls his ma, and she calls riq. she asks him to make cane follow mecca's plan, until its time to betray mecca. everytime, the tajades be it as a family or individually, they all come to riq, in season 2, cane speaks to riq telling him that he needs to make money quick, and riq says he is under house arrest, he cant do anything. cane doesnt make boss moves, riq does he sets up the heist to rob mecca. he gives everyone roles, effie/braydon handle the power, cane keeps them informed, monet, keeps lorenzo busy.
all cane does is say lets one up the heist to get the money and drugs. which leads to GTG being involved, which leads to dru getting involved cause he wants to off GTG, and dru says we need to keep diana busy, and riq got that covered. riq solves things, dru, builds on it, cane just comes with problems. this is the 1st time we see cane, thinking before he acts out. which is character growth.

Cane has definitely gotten smarter and his character has evolved because he's aillte less impulsive now and that's the reason why Lorenzo will die because he's stuck in a time warp and hasn't evolved. In this game you have to evolve to be in a long term and Lorenzo hasn't. Dru and Cane will butt heads but Dru will never be on Canes level because Cane is heartless and ruthless. Sadly at some point I see Cane going to jail though. I'm starting to think Monet will get locked up too at some point similar to Tasha. I'm wondering what they did with the knife that Riq used to kill Bash and if Riq's prints are still on it? What do you think @Moviebot?

Cane only seems smart to most people because he has leverage and dirt on others. Once the cat it is out of the bag he'll be on the outside of the family again. People like characters like Kanan and Cane because they seem smart to people that are less savvy. Most of their power comes from playing dirty not smart. Eventually he'll be out of moves because he'll be out of secrets. Effie, Lorenzo and Brayden are who really gave Caine power

Cain has always been smart. His problem is managing his emotions and acting without thinking. He’s grown in this capacity and his jealousy of Tariq has forced him to develop, as well. I think I saw some hair growing on Lorenzo's head after Cane told him he knew he killed Zeke. Lorenzo's days are numbered between Cain and when Monet finds out he killed Zeke. It’s a lil different. Kanan’s actions to riq was out of spite. Lorenzo was fighting his own “alpha man” ego and jealous of his son which is why he could never build a fully successful team. Mecca removes his ego to some degree, and put fear in cane, but while doing that was giving him game on how to gain control and explaining to Cane why he needed what he needed from him. In the end cane realized how mecca had controlled him with little to no yelling or brute force..but just quiet, subtle mental manipulation & Force used only when needed or disrespected

Cane isn't new to it like Brayden..he grew to it. Cane used that hardness and Mecca's teaching as strength. Brayden's already smart but,his street sense is leveling up..he knew how to get Tariq in by removing his internship w/Tate. Tariq is his personal drug.
He also got Riq to agree to move their drugs through Wall Street when he had Riq set up the meeting instead of him. He knew once Riq seen for himself how coked out those boys were, and how much weight they could move with ease, Riq would be on board without him having to “sell it too him.” Like Kane, Brayden is becoming smarter and moving with more confidence.
It seems as tho Riq is taking a back seat to Cane and Brayden this season. I like this because it not only shows character development but it also shows that Riq really wants out but Kane and Brayden loves the game.

Caine has a similar vibe to Kanan when they first appeared - they were both so cartoonishly evil you could hardly take them seriously, similar to the villains of the extremely popular Avatar franchise. But just like S4 and 5 of Power did to his OG Power counterpart, S3 of Ghost adds some kind of human element to Caine. So when he eventually dies, which I think will happen in either S4 or 5 of "Ghost", we are still going to feel somewhat sorry for him. And in all fairness, Monet is one terrible mother, just like Raquel and Tasha. Whoever wrote the script for these seasons must really hate their parents - I mean seriously, what kind of parent would WANT their kid to sell drugs and probably end up getting killed or in jail, rather than getting an education.
actually the script is unrealistic and forced, that's why there are always these exaggerated family dramas

Braydon and Tariq are drinking and Braydon tells Tariq what cane had plan to do to Lauren, involving him and Effie. He’s gonna tell him what cane was gonna do to him, but he said he left Lauren with Effie. Lauren escape from safe house. Secretly rides up on Tariq decise and tell him to get in. Lauren and Tariq Talked, he gives her money and tell her to go to her aunt in another state far away, and also to tell her aunt to convince her parents to visit them. Tariq is either gonna kill Obi or set him up with no one knowing it is him. Noma gonna find out Davis sold the ring to the jewlest.

I can see Effie pressuring Brayden again to help flip the luarn situation on him while cane steady progressing it’s definitely going be blind move and messy situation between the whole group causing that friction between cane and Tariq when all along me just got to be 100 with one another
