Great advice. I've ordered 2 BB's and 2 PC ETB's to keep sealed and ordered a bunch of 3 pack blisters to open. I'm really not hyped for SS, but my kids are going nuts waiting for a chance at Pikachu!
Set hype is insane and they distributed less than stellar crown to distros but hopefully it will force a reprint sooner rather than later with such high demand
I loved the summer feel of paradise dragona and the alolan Exeggutor is absolutely the best card from that set. I like that the Latias and Latios go together but overall the look of the Exeggutor so much better and how the colors match the rainbow borders.
All the haters of Surging Sparks are just jealous they couldnt pre-order or didnt think to in time and missed the boat so now they're insulting those who did pre-order they're so jealous and missed out 😂

Honest opinion , it it was for the SIR pikachu .. would be a dud set . I love the skarmory art work though beautiful. Latios and latias aren’t my flavor . The glory of team rocket .. I’ll be spending quite a bit.. I want every exclusive martial in regards to the glory of team rocket promotions when it comes next year and the promo cards and everything
Really enjoying these last few sets. Getting all the IRs in Japanese really helps me not overbuy. I can get all of them for less than an ETB and then anything I get with the couple of things I open is a bonus.
I was down on PC ETBs after SWSH, but i was a fool for not realizing the stamped promos were a game changer in S&V. I was on the sidelines so far with PC ETBs, buying exclusively booster boxes. But not with this set, bought 2 cases of booster boxes and 2 cases of PC ETB's. I dont think folks have caught on yet to how awesome this promo card is. And for anyone who wants to say "fomo got you." I usually buy 2-3 cases of boosters for every main set. I just converted one of those into PC ETBs. Stay consistent!
I had a theory I’m testing for the first time this run of buying the pokemon center etb and just setting aside the stamped promo for a decent amount of time and then selling it to recoup some of the cost. I don’t have space to buy a second one for sealed or something and don’t care about stamped promos so I thought that could be a easy low space taking way to open some packs on release for cheap.

I figured with the magneton promo being so cool if I just set this aside for a year or two there's a decent chance I'll be able to sell it for close to the price I spent on the box and get to open the packs for effectively very cheap.

The only way to make good money in the Pokemon card scene is to buy the sets nobody cares about. This set is hyped. Lots of people will be holding it. Won't be as valuable later on Evolving Skies, for example. Was so unpopular that they were putting it in those Walmart mystery boxes, and now it's $800 for a booster box. I think Shrouded Fables will be worth big money one day. I don't think I've seen a single person talking about holding onto it for value. Just means less supply later on.
@binkleyme you make a solid point. To add to that, people tend to hang on to sets long term that they like. It’s harder for people to hold unpopular sets long term if they don’t personally enjoy it.

I fell for the FOMO hard for this set. To be fair, as soon as the pack art with the pickachu was revealed I was sold that this is going to be a great set. We will see if I get hosed or not. Supply can always conquer demand if there is enough reprints of it. Also if an Eevee set or Rocket set comes out in the next 6 months that could steal the hype from this sets. So let's see how the gamble goes.
My guess is that it will sell pretty well upon release and as we get closer to the eevee,gym and rocket sets it's going to cool down and you're looking at waiting the market out long term

Right now Obsidian flame PC ETB is $145. If you open it you get the stamped promo unstamped promo, and 11 packs. In all that's worth about $160.
