    OG one every time: I put an 808, 707 (sorry, 909) and DMX drum kits on 3 of the pattern slots, leave the other 7 for making loops and other nonsense. If you think about it, this is the only really ‘original’ Volca, the rest just recreate extant things.

    Functionality wise, I'm trying to decide between buying a Sample 1 and install the Pajen firmware vs buying a Sample 2 and get the Retrokit RK-002 smart MIDI cable.
    Is there an advantage of either setup? Am I mixing oranges with apples?

    • @AdamVoxMusic

      If you want to use MIDI to play the sampler using an external key-board like an instrument sampler 1 with pajen is better. If you want to use it for sampled loops and as a drum machine, sampler 2 is better.

    Hi! : ) I wonder if you can help me confirm a thing ... There is something with my Volca ( or it's that way on all volca Sample 2 ) ... I have a pattern with some muted samples. When I use the "solo" function, it does what it does, but after I turn the "solo" off, all parts are unmuted automatically. I want the muted to stay muted, but may be that's how the Sample 2 works ? : )

    I have the Korg Volca Sample, Keys, FM, and Drum units, Two Behringer TD-3s, routed into a Mackie 1202-VLZ mixer, with a Roland SRV-2000 Digital Reverb and a Korg NTS-1 as effects. I've been playing around with this setup (on and off) over the last few years, usually recording to cassettes. This year I added an Arturia Keystep Pro to the mix to add more complexity to my compositions. However, the sample selector knob on the Volca Sample isn't working now, and I'm now contemplating purchasing the Sample 2. I'm just hesitant in buying another product after seeing something fail, especially an item that's wasn't in use (the unit sat unused on my studio desk for months until the day I got the Keystep and hooked it up).
    TL:DR If you had the Sample 1 and it was no longer working as intended, would you replace it with the Sample 2 or spend the money on something else?

    Hi m8, using quality cables into a decent mixing desk eg Mackie VLZ ,are the Volcas audio outputs quality good enough for a final mix down into a DAW ??
    Would be great if you could do a video on getting the best audio quality out of a Korg Volca , ie , audio leads , rf chokes to minimise noise etc...

    • @AdamVoxMusic
      @AdamVoxMusic  Год назад +2

      Thanks for the comment! I use a regular analog mixer when I record my volcas. What is important to have to ensure a good mix is that you have individual volume, equalizer and pan for each channel. Also it is very valuable to be able to add fx, e.g. reverb and delay, so best is to get a mixer with build in fx, so you do not have to buy a extra fx unit later. If you do not have a good sound card yet, you should also consider a mixer with build in sound card, that you can connect to your computer via USB. I do not want to give any recommendations, but an example of a mixer could be Uli's: Behringer Xenyx X1204 USB.
