Nice video TotalXclipse - glad to see you on something other than Satisfactory.
I found that during winter you can build on top of frozen lakes. The game will automagically add supports under the ice. During any other season your base is in the middle of a lake and monsters in that game cannot swim... Just make sure you build as much of the base as needed before the lake is no longer frozen because you can't swim with logs.

This is how I make the roof on big builds, just mirrored in. After building for hours, I noticed that it's best to only make the outer walls of your build and build all the way up to the roof. At first I kept filling in every square with vertical and horizontal logs, but when it came time to clear them out to open up the floors random vertical supports couldn't get removed even when there are supports close by.
Something's buggy with building. but I guess it comes with early access.
You can directly place the small diagonal supports without having to raise what will be the horizontal log first; just place it like you would if the horizontal log was already lifted, by looking at the corner and then clicking once you see the curved arrow thing.
I have found sometimes the building can be a bit buggy too.
I also build this way using the supports, and 9 times out of 10 it works ... then on the tenth one it refuses to allow me to do it.
I have looked at the floors and adjacent walls/supports to try and see why it won't work and I never fill in anything until my frame is complete, so it isn't related to that.
. Sometimes the only thing to do is log out and return.
Other times the only solution is undo what it will let you and then log out and back in. It can be frustrating but expected with early access.
The only thing I have noticed is that if I am pulling down a build ... a wall that used to have a support in it sometimes won't undo even when I have placed full logs in as supports. A restart usually fixes the problem ... but if not, replacing support struts and then removing again usually fixes it.

I’m glad this video is JUST about the build. I see videos all the time where the thumbnail and title say they’re building something, but then you realize it’s a 40 minute episode of a playthrough that possibly at some point has some building… like I clicked it for the building, that was in the title. Not to watch you waffle around the game for half an hour first, and then only get 1/4 of the build started 😂 so thanks lol
No matter the game your builds are always very impressive
Yeah, my biggest issue is the building is so tedious and restricted at the same time. Why can't I use rock cliffs to snap logs to? Why can't I build stairs against any existing wall? Many, many issues with the building.

On Hard mode (maybe other difficulties as well), muddies can jump pretty darn high so if you're standing on the platform they can hit the platform, from the ground, while trying to hit you and break it
My most used phrases... "awe thx Kelvin" and "No Kelvin don't cut that down ahhhhhh!"
I thought about replaying in peaceful mode to build something big for fun and you just gave me some great ideas :D
That was awesome TotalXclipse! Now that is a treehouse! Very cool that it can be done. I like that multiple floors can be used.
Can confirm they still jump on a tree even if you cut down all other trees. However if you don't wall them in they just jump off and won't attack anything.
Good to know! - dont suppose you know if this is dependant on the height of the treehouse?
Also, logs are the best and cheapest way to kill all of the monsters in the game. You just pick up logs and chuck them at mutants, canibal die with 2 hits. Fill your base with logs and when canibals, mutants show up just throw logs at enemies, you can kill ged guy with 3 or 4 logs and even the worm centepinde mutant easy.
You should try making a cliff side base. It's vary safe. The only problem is Logistics and water.

Thank You! - was able to use your technique just now to do the same thing with a platform that was placed very high on the tree to start with. as long as you can get a scaffold placed perfectly it will accept the first angled log that connects to the tree house. it's a pain, but you can kinda use the rope hanging down for reference for placing the first vertical log for the scaffold.

They usually patch to where they can tear down stuff, I assume they will on this, the safest place is usually water, the good news is it seems you can stilt build out in thr ocean. Them we ran a zip line back to a drinkable river, the tree house looks sick tho, I can't wait to see how they hold up with patching.
It's all fun and games till you play for hours without saving and an armsy comes swinging at your tree

Did the same broken trick. I used 1/4 bars vertically to expand in the width as much as possible without going up so much.
I did this to create a hovering beam system that can illuminate the first 30 m on the outside of the base (in front of my spike wall).
Need to see those mutants coming instead of hearing traps going off and something colliding with the spike wall in the middle of the night.
I see you've put a campfire directly on top of a wooden floor to add insult to injury. Nice!

So glad I found this video as I was trying to do the same thing but had issues with the final 2 supports. Didn't realise the hovering braces actually sort this. My upside-down pyramid will soon be finished 🤣
You can remove sections of he large tree house by swinging the axe a few times and I was also able to connect two of them with logs
Well my Kevin must have hit his head extra hard when we crash landed bc he'll chop down the base of my tree house if tasked with collecting logs, OR building a basic treehouse...

Since you lost Kelvin to a bug, you could do that thing where you edit a couple files on your saves folder to set him to not be dead, and you'll get him back
I accidentally killed Kelvin and changing "is robby dead" from true to false didnt bring him back for me.
@@Eminate2121 you have to edit a few other things, there's a 'health' bit and a 'state' bit that need changing to bring him back
@@Eminate2121go into your savedata file, open with notepad, kelvin is type id 9. Within that string change his health to 100.0 and state should be changed to 2 instead of 6.
How do you edit save files?

to go up, instead of using whole logs, is it possible to use vertical half logs or quarter logs? in this way, if the game allows it, you could widen the base more by going less high

I'm a veteran of Satisfactory, with a few hundred hours behind me, and in fact I met you with those videos, and one of the bases in which I invested the most time was an inverted pyramid in the middle of the desert biome.
even if it's a couple of updates that I haven't put my hands on anymore, it came back to my mind watching this video

Up by the lake in the mountain waterfall are are alot of trees with no branches.
Haven’t watched the video but I can tell from just the thumbnail that me and my bud made a treehouse in that exact tree. Kelvin’s dumbass chopped it down and our treehouse was left there floating. Well, the roof and 1 wall broke but other than that it was functional. Just that it looked like ass because it was a floating treehouse

i hate how we have to make tree houses though. it just seems like too many extra steps that aren't needed lol. ive been trying to make a tree house village where atleast 3 houses are connected by bridges but its not working out right for me yet. biggest issue is making the house platform on the trees big enough to not only have a decent sized house but to have some outside space to move around. i really hope they update it to make it easier somehow.

Its best to just cut down a bunch of trees yourself and have Kelvin clean up the logs. If you keep enough logs on the ground for him to pick up, he wont cut down any trees himself.

Freakin cool man. I don't even play this game but enjoy watching others build crazy stuff.
But it makes sence that this will be patched in the future. I mean canibals can climp threes. So mutants should be able to tear them down. I think its important that no where in this island should be 100% safe. Just as yes you can be safe building on frozen lake. But you will still not be safe next winter.
