Technique is nothing if you can't convey emotions like Christina does. To be a great singer has more to do with being a great storyteller than being technically perfect.

There are exceptionally sound technical singers who don't tell a story, for example back ground or voice over singers who are literally pitch perfect. Entertainers and narrators are examples story tellers. That's where storytelling takes precedence.

I wouldn't call it "unfair" because it's the public that makes someone popular. And although the "lip sync artists" usually have less talent, they are commercially successful due to their (or their management's) sense of what's considered HOT at the moment. People like Christina often want to showcase their vocal abilities and their range in their songs and don't focus on the catchy vibe that makes everybody dance, thus they don't sell as much.

Christina has never really cared for the 'popularity' she has always remained humble to who she is and has always stayed grounded and authentic to herself, and has never forgotten that music and her voice are her gift to the world and she will never deny us of it and will even teach others with what she can. Ugh she is in my opinion one of the last great voices of our time, she is the only one from her era to maintain her vocals so well and not dipped into the auto tune bag. I just love, adore and admire her ten fold. I feel it is almost criminal she has not received any icon or vanguard award, her contribution to music and the industry is incredible. However i don't she is too bothered by awards anymore, she is just out here doing her thing and unapologetic for the genuine incredible talented soul she is. Beauty and 'The Voice' personified.

It’s so sad how you never get SINGERS like this anymore on the award shows. I would have felt out of place sitting in the audience watching her after my mediocre over the top performance. I mean kudos to all the entertainers but man this is talent! Her voice is so pure and she sings from a place of truth, vulnerability, and really means what she sings. Even the imperfections are perfect in a weird way. Her voice is so soft and silky and warm and then can get up there and pierce your heart with love and happiness.

@Geraint Jones - Mariah used to have a nice voice but not anymore, no wonder she hasn’t been nominated for a Grammy since the last decade. She lost her only talent (her voice) a long time ago. Christina is way better and is still around touring, winning awards, getting hits, etc. Mariah has to wait every Xmas to promote like crazy her AIWFCIY song , ‘cause it’s the only time of the year when some people remember she is still alive.

I just gotta say, as a fan from her since day #1, I am daring to say that she has her best vocal peak in her entire career. She's not overdoing it, she's belting when needed, her tone is rich, her musical instrument is being used to the best of her advantage and her tone is ON POINT! Ladies and Gentlement, Chrsitina Aguilera is having a 2nd VOCAL PEAK (after Back to Basics) on her career!!!!
