Eh, Slaughterville isn't that bad, but it is primarily Rural. And Meagan? Oklahoma isn't boring unless you have a serious lack of imagination and a serious drive to stay within 2 miles of home for everything you do. Downtown OKC has Bricktown, the Thunder stadium, Crystal Bridge, the Riverwalk Canal, The Water Adventures area on the river, the Baseball stadium, the Zoo, Remington Park Raceway, and a plethora of absolutely outstanding Restaurants from literally every cuisine in the world. There are a dozen really good State Parks scattered across Oklahoma, all of them with camping, fishing, and other attractions. There are a few dozen lakes in Oklahoma for boating, fishing, skiing, and just relaxing at. The Wichita Wildlife Preserve is beautiful and open to the public for the majority of the year, and has open to the public auctions of managed herd meat on a semi-regular basis. Tulsa has as much to offer as OKC itself, and Tulsa's Riverwalk area is incredibly beautiful. There are museums all over the state covering a wide range of specialty topics. There's Turner Falls, and the Sulpher Springs area with Little Niagra. There are PowWows that are open to the public in several parts of the state, many (if not Most) of those being open to the public for at least part of their run.
There's also a city in Oklahoma called Sallisaw. My family and I drove thru it going to and from New Mexico in 1989, and anytime we passed a sign with the name "Sallisaw" on it, we would say "What else did Sally see?" LOL
I'm an Okie by birth and upbringing. I've also lived in Midwest City for the vast majority of my life. Midwest City is actually named for the Air Force Base (now known as Tinker) that it grew up around. Originally, Tinker AFB was named Midwest Air Depot - when it was authorized and built during the 1940s, back when the Air Force was still the Army Air Corp. When the plots of land were purchased to start building Midwest City, its name was decided on to honor the new Base. Midwest Air Depot surrounded by Midwest City, with the 2 main streets in town - 1 mile apart, and placed at the (then) two main entrance gates of the base being Air Depot Blvd and Midwest Blvd, setting the west and east boundaries (respectively) of the Original Mile neighborhood. That neighborhood was primarily off base family housing and officers housing during the 40s. It wasn't until the mid 60s, long after the initial construction of both the air base and the town that its part of were built, that the base was renamed Tinker Air Force Base. Just as an FYI - Slaughterville is named after the family that founded it; Guthrie (the original state Capital) was as well - and yes, its the same family that eventually gave birth to Arlo Guthrie the Musician (Alice's Restaurant, anyone?) Moon being named Moon was in honor of the fact that Armstrong was born in Oklahoma. We also have "Nowhere" (tiny place at one of our lakes) and towns that were named by the various First Nations tribes who were forced here, that there's no pronouncing properly unless you grew up here.

There is basically no consensus on Oklahoma’s region, actually lol. Different government agencies will classify it differently. We’re not part of the traditional South (like Civil War), and I think most of us sound like we’re from the plains region of the Midwest (if not most, many). If you do a quick search of a cultural map or accent map of the U.S., it seems like OK has more in common with Kansas, Nebraska, and the far eastern portion of Colorado (with some shared elements from Texas and maybe a measure of southern influence, being a state where the border for the South ends). But all in all, I would say it’s difficult to categorize. I actually don’t think it nearly fits into any regional category, considering common cultural norms at least. Some say Southwest (again, look up the Southwest on Google images. You’ll see OK pop up sometimes), some Midwest, and some South. The U.S. census places us in the South, but that’s more just because of geographical boundaries I guess. I would be in favor of making a “Central” region or something with OK, Kansas, and Nebraska if we could do that, since it’s so hard to categorize.
The way I always describe it, we're either a "southern state with Midwest tendencies" or we're a "Midwest state with with southern manners" Both work. Oklahoma is just a big melting pot anyway.
