@@miguelhernandez9199 did you ever figure out how to remove those plastic pieces below the rubber stoppers? I see there is a special tool that segway has on their official videos but I still cannot remove them to get the internal battery out of the stem.
Hi Jake , I just received this exact scooter with the up grade battery included and I've had an absolute blast ripping around town , including riding it up the the mountain road a few times . I'm a smaller fellow at 55 kilos and I rip along at 36 klm per hour .lol. I'm also 60 years old and it was one of my 7 Sons that bought it for me.lol.
Omg thank you SO MUCH for this review!!! I’m also a bit heavy for the scooter, and I cannot use it when going up, so I’ve ordered the battery just now!! Cannot wait to try it out 😍 I almost threw the bike away just because it wouldn’t go up hills!
My battery's screws were loose and the battery was separated. I was looking someone to fix it.before that i tried to find solution on you tube. Thanks for the information. After watching your video i fixed the battery on my own :)
I'm 70kg I got the es2 and love it. I bought the battery upgraded on amazon I can't wait for it to arrive I'm feel like a kid waiting for Santa at Christmas
Battery works great, just one important thing to mention is that the scooter becomes harder to carry, not only because of the weight but because from where you normally could grab it is where the battery is now, therefore making it very hard or simple not practical to hand carry....
That was my one complaint about going from the ES2 to ES3. I still carry it with one hand, I just grab it below the battery, with my thumb towards the front wheel, and use my thumb to push down on the front to keep it level while I carry it. Definitely awkward and kinda tiring, but I've gotten used to it
Just ordered this battery for my ES2. Really hope it helps. I got a fairly steep long incline where I live and without kicking it can only do 13 km/h is there's no wind. With head wind it's impossible - and humiliating. I was very unsure whether or not to pull the trigger for an extra battery because to say the truth I'm not that happy with it. Had I had the chance to try it before buying I wouldn't. Rattles and generally uncomfortable and makes noise on the badly maintained roads here. Inflated tires would be much better. Also it's quite top heavy and an extra battery doesn't exactly make things better. So really hoping the battery is worth it. Not that the ES2 can fetch a lot of money on the 2nd hand market. After all there's much better scooters out there now. If only there was a way to electronically limit it to 20 km/h because with extra battery that model will do 30...
Got the extra battery. Makes it if not a totally new scooter then quite usable. Up the same hill it could only do 13 km/h before it's now doing at 25-26(!) km/h. Way better and not embarising anymore. Now it's worth keeping until worn down. But the next one I'll surely do a better job researching which one. Battery in the base instead of handle and preferably inflateable tires and better suspension for a much better ride. The only "issue" I have with it is that it can now go 30 km/h on flat ground. It's only legal to do 20 where I live so I might experiment with alternative firmware so I can slow down max speed when needed. If only it was possible with standard firmware. Also electronic braking could be a little better - another reason to consider alternative firmware.
I'm throwing the battery pack on my Bird ES1-300, can't wait to feel the improvement. It's a great scooter so far but I find it has some trouble with hills so hopefully this will give it the boost it needs. For the most part I just want to extend the range.
I'd like to do the same with mine . How does it connect and are you getting better speed , range ? Btw the m365 tools app will control the tail light and under lights . You can change patterns , colors or just shut them off . I was happy to find that out . Thank you for any info in advance 👍
Fun Fact: Its not the battery that increases power, but when the CPU detects that the battery pack is connected, it tells the speed controller to increase the Peak Power allowed by the hub motor from 700 Watts to 800 Watts+. Also increases the speed limit.
At 105 kilos you’re over the weight limit which is good to know it won’t snap in two. I’m just 15 pounds under but always wondered if I would be pushing the weight limit if I used it to go grab groceries in a backpack.
Grant Prather Music I have had no issues with the battery, and it was very easy to install. However my scooter itself has had issues so I’m getting it replaced with an ES2
Hey jake thanks for the video i just want to ask you if you still can unlock the scooter's speed limit and make it hit 35 km/h even with the additional battery i hope you can see this comments thanks ❤️
I love the video. Is there anyway you could add some more data without the battery and with the battery? Showing the comparison of time to get to full speed? Hill climbing angle, or time to cling a hill before and after? I am curious to how much of a quantities difference there is
Regarding the batteries need to be in sync. I can’t see to feel any speed or pull difference. Did you have to use it for a while and recharge several times? Noticed one of the batteries stopped charge at 98. Any trick?
Hi Jake, hows the scooter going after a couple months of riding? Very interested in getting one myself but need to make sure this thing will last! Cheers
I weigh about 95KG and it moves quite fine as is without the external battery. Ordering an external for the extra umpph and for going up steeper hills.
My es2 shows error code of 48 & 42. I already uninstall the battery and clean the port and reinstall it but the issue is not being fixed. How can i solve the problem. Can anyone help me to solve it?
Hey there. Just quick question if I may........ I bought the second battery and for the first few trips I noticed the increase in power as you did. Then it went back to the original performance. Have the bateries gone out of sync? I noticed on the app that when fully charged the app says it has a full 25Km of distance capability. The ES4 should have 45Km range. I am charging it through eh second battery, but when I press the top left button on the battery, it always displays the full (4 lights) of charge. Have I done something to stop the second battery functioning. Do you have any advise as to how I could rectify this problem. I'm glad your ES4 is everything you hoped for. Maybe mine will once more be just the same. Thank you in advance for any insights you may be able to share.
Amazing review video. Thanks for sharing this. Just wondering, I just installed an external battery for my Segway es2. But the app says it's 20.5Km. and I can't see any second battery in the app as well. Is that normal?
For those who want to know it's not worth it. The wire are poorly made and can't stand the heat it make and basically melt the insulator of the wires and that's how you fry you ES2/ES4. Unless you have what it take to change all the wire system, wich i would like to know if it's even possible ( now that would be interesting ).
Hi, I have a question in which maybe you can help me. I need to understand two types of screws: • The screws for the charging port, 2 screws first photo, which I think are M3. • The screws for the stem, 3 screws second photo, which I think are M4. Could you give me the specs for buying both? Scooter is the E45E that I want to use like an E25E. Thank you imgur.com/a/xfAiA62
Not really in the same league. They're two different vehicles. Battery driven is clean and you can take it with you just about everywhere. A petrol will stink and have very hot parts after use. Beside a petrol powered one needs a lot more maintenance and you have to get gas where as an electric you just need a wall plug for cheap energy. However I agree the ES2 is very toy like. With the extra battery it's usable. But the Ninebot Max would probably be my choice if I was to buy a new one today. I have a quite long hill where I live. Without extra battery it could only go 13 km/h uphill. With extra battery it'll go 25-26 km/h. A difference between quite good and embarising. I'm about 80 kg with clothes and all.
