I have a copy of this on the shelf. Aiming to cover it in a couple of weeks. I've heard REALLY good things about the designer.
I've got a copy of SETI on the way too (playing it the day after this one)

this tomas guy is definitely one to watch. this and tea garden are both FANTASTIC debut titles, and i've heard nothing but great things about SETI too :)
i kind of feel like we've hit where cinema was in the 70's, and we're starting to see new designers popping up with great designs, all standing on the giants of what came before. it's a great time to be a euro fan!

The expansion writes itself: The Hubble Expansion, 😂. New characters, tweaked setting to the present, instead of inquisition, we have the static universe folks whom you have to convince the universe is expanding at an accelerating rate. New cards focused on that, potentially new tracks. Man that would be a cool expansion and double entrende

Fully agree about there not being enough individual powers. They should have definitely went the Marco Polo route and at least doubled the number; and to include some female astronomers for further reading interest and balance.

100% behind your comment about the dude's club. Thanks also for naming these women. Wish they'd include them as well. As a woman, it's a big factor that influences my decisions. It's so simple to find women who worked in the field. Love that it's more and more thought about though. Like this year Ada's Dream and Luthier did a good job including women for example. Cheers!

I agree that they could have included some female astronomers of the time but I am not sure how many were hounded directly by the church for their heliocentric beliefs? I am sure there were some but I wonder if that was more so due to them being assistants to "the men in question"? Also, reading about Maria Cunitz (circa 1600s) this morning, I note that she and a lot of other female scientists kind of established their roles thanks to their support of men in a man's world. It seems that they also became established in primary thanks to their established male fathers or family ties. Maria Cunitz herself was "the daughter of Heinrich Cunitz, who was a well renowned and knowledgeable physician, and Maria Scholtz, the self educated daughter of a German scientist".
Of course it was close to impossible to ascend otherwise which our contemporary culture rightfully critiques but I am not sure if the design as-is has room for them in the same way that Luthier or Ada's Dream does with their suite of assistants et al. In all, i still believe the design could and can include historical female astronomers but I would like the game to not simply crowbar them in. A fully developed expansion would be my preference and less so a "pack" of female player powers.

Would love to hear your thoughts on weight and real play time. What other games does it compare to. BGG ratings are not available. Can't wait for SETI to come out, I need to find out if the solo is simple.

i'd put it in the same range as maybe wingspan with an expansion. something like that :)

@@rahdo Thanks for the answer. SETI might prove too high a weight for me, if so then I'll pivot to this one instead :)

I'm looking forward to this one! Thanks for bringing up the absence of women astronomers in the game - hopefully an expansion will correct that. 🙂

First I see that Tom brought back a copy from GenCon, now this review. Everything I see on BGG is that this isn’t even available. So frustrating!
