@@BabbleTop I knew nothing of his having built the the down cause I wasn’t around there. I just assumed it was named Hershey cause the factory was there. They talked about the town just as you described but also went through the chocolate making process and discussed how he’d revolutionized the process. You could even take a chocolate making class though I did not. I was quite surprised to hear he contributed to starting the Penn State Medical School. As I went through I remember thinking that this almost seemed it may have been the start of the pre planned suburbs. I’m from Chicago and was thinking that it reminded me of Pullman. But most company towns took advantage of employees forced to use their services and without any of the perks. I came away really admiring him. To think his first ventures were failures but he didn’t give up.
I make Christmas cookies every year, my family's favorite are the peanut butter kiss cookies. They disappear much faster than the white cookies which are similar to sugar cookies but pillow soft.

I wish Hersheys hadn't switched to using more vegetable oils than cocoa butter. I've noticed over the years that some Hershey products are labeled as "made with chocolate" or "chocolatey," which means it's no longer legally "real" milk chocolate. Mr. Goodbar used to be my favorite. But even on the label, it went from "milk chocolate with peanuts" to "chocolate candy with peanuts" - as it's oil instead of cocoa butter. I wonder what old Milton would think.

@@BabbleTop Thank You! I saw that on a bumper sticker over 20 years ago, and I still smile when I think about it. There are times when I wll shave bits from a block of the bitter, bakers chocolate, just to get more chocolate flavor.
Some years after Christmas the various chocolate morsels are marked down. I love the semi sweet, and the white chocolate types. I won't pass up the Butterscotch flavor, and one year I fould some Cherry flavored which where great. They tasted like a mix of white chocolate and wild cherries.

@@BabbleTop I would mix some of iit with dry ceral and nuts to make a trail mix. Commercial trail mix all seem to containn almonds, which I can't chew, so I have to make my own.

I live in a little town and we have a big Hershey factory it's in Illinois and there is also a store on our square that sells heath bars which were originally started out in our small town
