Very informative! I need to do this to my crawlspace. MY crawlspace is about 5 feet tall. If they would have went 2-3 courses of block higher it would have been a basement. I want to dig down about 3 feet in a 20x30 foot area at the far end of my house and make a partial basement. I plan to dig by hand. Should take a few weeks give or take. I'm in ohio too!
Interesting video and good job on the rim joists. But I'm curious what potential drawbacks and advantages there is to totally sealing off the 4 vents? I've seen crawlspace videos where its totally encapsulated but your foundation walls don't apprear to be and it looks like some plastic on the surface but gaps near the walls. I saw what looked to be a dehumidifier.
Great job and a video too When I built my crawlspace I placed a thin concrete floor so now I use a auto car creeper to get around lol
Thank you! That’s a great idea, but I don’t plan to spend much time down there if not needed. ;-)

Thank you! Good luck with the digging! That sounds like a lot of work. But will be well worth it when done.
