Good question: The waste I from the process I dispose of. In theory you could give or sell the glycerin to people that make soap but I don't know if it's refined enough for them? You could also process out the methanol but it takes a fair amount of equipment & work, and can be dangerous due to the flammable liquid/gas. So the easiest is to dispose of it
I do it to save money on cost of diesel as in the end I pay about 1/3 of what diesel would be. I also do it to recycle used cooking oil instead of having it thrown away.
Damn. I made a great comment and it is just wiped out now. Here is a summary. Centrifuge the oil with a centrifugal filter and burn it in a siphon type burner with a ceramic wool lined firebox, regular boiler. The lining to reduce scorching of the boiler.
I considered that type of setup initially, but I wanted something that can start/stop itself without having to be manually lit and monitored. If I went this way I would also consider used motor oil.
Thank you for showing us this process. I will try this one day
You’re welcome 😊
That's a nice setup. It's a lot of work but it looks fun 😉
Thanks, it's a bit of work and I'm sure if I had more room I could make it more efficient, but as I learn I'll share!
So what happens to the waste from the process? Any uses for that?

If i missed it in the video I’m sorry but what’s the cost roughly to produce that much bio diesel? I’m interested in trying.
Last time I calculated it's about 1/3 of what I would pay for diesel
I hope this saves someone money, or is used in disaster relief for generators if it can be.

This looks like it's not worth the effort for the money saved. It makes more sense just to buy off-road diesel and put your time into something else.
That might be the case but I have no easy access to off-road diesel, maybe I need a friend that's a farmer!
