Mortgage rates are currently at an all time high since 2000(23 years) and based on statistics on inflation, we might see that number skyrocket further, a 30-year fixed rate was only 5% this time last year, so do I just keep waiting for a housing crash before buying or redirect my focus to the equity market
I fear a housing crash due to people buying homes above asking prices with little equity. If prices drop, affordability and potential foreclosures may arise, worsened by future layoffs and rising living costs.
Predicting the housing market in 2023 is challenging because it remains uncertain how swiftly and to what extent the Federal Reserve can reduce cost surge and borrowing costs without negatively impacting buyer demand for various assets, including homes and automobiles.
Consider reallocating from real estate to stocks. Severe recessions offer market buying opportunities with caution, as volatility can yield short-term trading prospects. Not financial advice, but it may be wise to invest, as cash isn't ideal in this period.
Indeed, diversifying a $380,000 portfolio across various markets with guidance from an investment coach has proven fruitful. You've managed to generate a net profit of over $790,000 through high dividend yield stocks, ETFs, and bonds. That's an impressive achievement.
Can you suggest the investment coach you've been using? It appears you've had success with their guidance.
My advisor, Stacey Lee Decker, is a highly qualified and experienced professional in the financial market. She possesses extensive expertise in portfolio diversification and is widely recognised as an expert in her field. I suggest conducting further research into her credentials. With her years of experience, she proves to be a valuable resource for anyone seeking guidance in navigating the financial market.
I think a housing crash will happen because all those people who bought homes over asking price, although it was at a low interest rate, they are over their heads. They have no equity if the housing prices continue to go down, and if for whatever reason they cannot afford the house anymore and it goes into foreclosure because even if they try to sell, they will not make any money. I think this will happen to a lot of people especially with the massive layoff predicted for the future and the cost of living rising at a high speed.
You are right! I’ve diversified my $70K portfolio across various market with the aid of an investment coach, I have been able to generate a little bit above $190k in net profit across high dividend yield stocks, ETF and bonds.

Florida is a steamy swamp...it's not only the heat, but the extreme humidity that's killer.
Yeah. and millions of New Yorkers keep moving there because New York is worse.
humidity alone will make you collapse
It's so funny how Desantis went to California and D.C. and complained about all the homeless people everywhere, but is ignoring and doing absolutely nothing for the homeless in his own state. We seriously need to address homelessness as a nation. Housing is becoming so unattainable and the FED isn't doing anything to fix the housing crisis. I could not imagine living on the streets in this heat.
You can't compare homelessness in Florida to California and DC. Not even close.
@@nymike06 yes I can. Homeless people are homeless. Doesn't matter what state.
@@y0g_s0th0th I agree but the abundance of homelessness. Cities like Los Angeles, Seattle and DC have tunned homelessness into an industry. It's manufactured and weaponized.
@nymike06 Homelessness isn't an industry anywhere. It's not making anyone money. It's actually costing money. How do you even weaponize homelessness?
It's a major problem that no one anywhere seems to want to fix or is even trying to. You're being hyperbolic, and we should all stop trying to trivialize this issue like it's something that belongs to only some states or that it was intended to be used as a weapon. Listen to yourself. It sounds silly.
It's just a sad fact of life. Some people are just homeless, due to drugs, mental illness, poverty, displacement, criminal background, and yes, some of those people could just be lazy or enjoy the homeless lifestyle etc etc. There's really nothing to weaponize. We can't change who people are because they are gonna make their own choices. We can't just get rid of them either. The only options are to help them, or just ignore them.
@@y0g_s0th0th The Democrats have industrialized it. They feed it, they weaponize it, they spread it by busing it all over the country and they make tons of cash off it via for profit groups. they use it for votes too.

The Bible teaches us that faith without works is dead. Do something or say nothing.
The problem with thoughts and prayers is that they are passive. They may offer some comfort, but they provide absolutely zero action.
We elect politicians to fix public policy problems, not pray for miraculous solutions. Our representatives are sent to government to work on behalf of the American people, to create laws and enact policies intended to keep the public safer. All too often, though, our elected officials respond to public health crises like homelessness not with action - but with deflective statements that inevitably include their thoughts and prayers.
These standardized statements serve as a shield, protecting politicians and policy makers from shouldering any of the blame for a system that allows for homelessness. “Thoughts and prayers” relieves them of their responsibility to actually take action in order to help prevent homelessness.

To any person with a Voucher. DO NOT GIVE NOTICE OR MOVE WITHOUT HOUSING SECURED/MOVE IN DATE for a new house. You are risking permanent homelessness because you have a deadline to find a new place, if your voucher expires you loose it. finding a place that accepts a voucher is VERY difficult.
Or they could get a job and pay for their own rent😂
The mortgage is a scam in which THE PUBLIC is the victim. I have experienced great difficulty in helping a friend secure housing with her voucher precisely because the mortgage has systemically inflated rents to astronomical heights. Landlords are under the delusion that their apartments can garner rents several orders of magnitude above the weight of the local market, so they foolishly refuse to consider voucher tenants, leading to their apartment buildings being vacant or nearly vacant, as a prelude to speculative “real estate” developers wastefully building tasteless skyscrapers in their place and ultimately taking a tax loss when the new buildings end up having to be demolished.
@@Jlitt-yw2zm Lots of people with vouchers DO work. You're more likely to get and keep a job when you have a fixed place to stay, genius.

The rents are double everywhere in Florida, the pay lower. Whatever you do elsewhere, you will be paid less for it in Florida. Then, you will also need to pay double the rent on that smaller income. It doesn't work for working people. An average 1 BR cheapo apartment is $1800. So you need verifiable $5400 a month to get in that apartment. $70k a year gets you the cheapest apartment in town. Now, where do all the service workers earning $35k a year live? They live illegally, doubled up with roommates, which is totally against most apartments rules but people break the rules to stay alive one more day. "Welcome to Florida. Mow our lawns, clean our toilets, but don't expect to sleep inside a building."

The obvious question everybody’s asking is why is the man not working?
That's a valid question. It could be a prior criminal history prevented him from getting work in the past that led them to where they are now, thus being the cause of their homelessness and not the solution to it. Very hard to say as this video gives us no context to their situation. Only that they are in it.
He could be trying to look for employment, but lack places to wash clothes for free, maybe he has a health issue, or maybe he is trying to take care of his wife the best he can by keeping an eye on her, but it's not enough.
Maybe he's suffering from Ptsd from prior military.
Jhe has cast on his arm.
The man is not working simply because he is depending on her. She likely got the voucher for them both. The least he can do is get a job doing something to put them in a motel until their situation turns around. Sometimes women just do better in these situations when they go at it alone. They can concentrate and not have to deal with a grown boy.
Let me try to understand. They are American citizens and cant get housed not even in shelters but, illegal immigrants can be housed in hotels and busses running all day to keep them cool. Yeah, I would say that's messed up on sooo many levels!!!

Just as good people deserve good outcomes, bad people deserve their lot in life, too. Asserting that homeless people who “like their way of living” do not “deserve” help. No one wants to be homeless. Have some empathy. Don't freely tolerate human suffering.
@LadieKatie this video says nothing about their past actions --- you are making an assumption there. maybe they are down on their luck. maybe the state of florida has poor safety nets for those that aren't millionaires and billionaires. you cannot assume they are homeless cause of their "past choices". it implies that those experiencing homelessness aren’t worthy of support, prompting the general public to normalize discrimination and exclusion when interacting with them. People experiencing homelessness in turn internalize the blame placed upon them, exacerbating the negative effects of stigma on their self-esteem and well-being.
This misconception is also blatantly incorrect. Many people experience homelessness for reasons that are not within their control, including loss of job from economic downturn, car troubles, medical conditions or disabilities, family neglect or abuse, or family emergencies. Further economic issues, such as the lack of affordable housing, poverty, lack of employment opportunities, and low wages also contribute to homelessness. In the aftermath of COVID-19, with unique public health and economic challenges plaguing the general public, unexpected expenses left an overwhelming amount of individuals vulnerable to housing insecurity. The descent into homelessness usually tends to emerge from a culmination of economic circumstances and systemic barriers that make it difficult for individuals to pull themselves out on their own. Yet this misconception about homelessness limits the extent to which society supports their recovery, prompting a cycle of homelessness to form.
Stigmatizing an already marginalized community, misconceptions about homelessness allow society at large to ignore and dehumanize the people experiencing it.

what you're saying is ignorant.
People believe if you're homeless, it's due to moral failure or "poor choices" on your part, rather than a broken economic system, as if nearly 40 years of stagnant wages in America were your own personal doing. Blaming personal failures for your circumstances merely provides an excuse for not responding to the real causes of homelessness.
Lack of affordable housing is the leading cause of homelessness
After the housing crash in 2008, many people who lost their homes to foreclosure moved into rentals - and stayed. When fewer people buy homes, rental markets tighten. The number of renters across the United States grew by about 5 percentage points between 2006 and 2014, to just over 43 percent. Tighter lending policies, student loan debt, and stagnant wages discourage renters from buying. In the most desirable housing markets in the country (such as the West Coast, where the tech hubs are), population growth has outpaced new home construction, driving up housing and rental prices faster than gains in income can keep pace. When home prices rose, it priced people out of the market, keeping them in rentals. Rents then soared due to demand. All of this, in turn, made it even harder for renters to become homeowners, completing the vicious circle.

How many air conditioned, fast food restaurants in that area are still looking for help? Get whatever 40 hour a week job you can get, start with an efficiency and go from there. It can be done, but it will take 8 hours of work a day, five days a week at least!
Take a look at my lengthy comment that reflects my Florida experience. I was a college professor who earned a doctorate and multiple graduate degrees at Florida institutions--all from scholarships due to my hard work. Just to give you an alternative perspective. And efficiencies are not so easy to find. I knew several homeless guys who actually worked full-time. One was a restaurant cook and the other did landscaping. But they couldn't qualify for leases. See my comments.
@@martyfrank2905 A far better allocation of resources which should NOT be going to ANY ILLEGAL FOREIGNER, is to retrofit unused or underused commercial and industrial properties, and there are PLENTY of them in Florida and elsewhere, into microapartments, micro-efficiencies if you will. The respective housing authorities then prioritize availability to people WITH JOBS, who can pay nominal, affordable rent, i.e. $800/month, all utilities included so that these buildings can be self-sustaining.
@@factualbreakdown3072 My lengthy comment was marked error so it didn't appear. You have a GREAT idea!! The only possible problem is something that I saw on an Orlando TV station. They interviewed a builder who specialized in converting hotels etc. into affordable housing. He said that he couldn't build them fast enough, and that once they were available, he was inundated with applicants. He felt that doing this could only supply a small portion of the need. I see Florida eventually becoming an enclave for the wealthy, like a huge Cayman Islands.
What was very disturbing to me in Florida was how quickly and unpredictably rents skyrocketed. In my unaccepted, lengthy comment I cited several examples of full-time hospitality/retail, teachers, managers, etc. that I knew who ended up homeless or on the brink of homelessness overnight. They were all full-time workers priced about by the influx of transplants from expensive housing markets in Blue States.
All around my apartment within two years, 5 huge new apartment complexes mushroomed. But they were all "luxury" complexes aimed at affluent transplants/remote workers. The older complexes housing locals then used the fig leaf of "market value" to jack up their rents, knowing that their tenants had nowhere else to go. To get a lease at the new places you needed to earn three times the monthly rent in INCOME. They stopped looking at savings and other assets. Many locals on fixed incomes had relatively small pensions but considerable savings. The new places didn't care.
I tried to pay a year's rent in advance and sign a lease that stated that I had to do this each year that I renewed my lease. They wouldn't do it!
What I saw was horrible---80 year-olds who'd lived at apartments for 30+ years and never even were late on rent, suddenly having to find someplace to go when a corporation bought out a local landlord. The corporation said that in addition to new applicants, CURRENT residents renewing their leases had to prove that they earned three times the INCOME in monthly rent. The fact that they were still able to pay the newly jacked up rent no longer mattered. This was absolutely unheard of in the past. Once you got a lease, continued to pay the rent on time. and caused o trouble, they never did annual income checks. This new trend is very ominous.
I saw fast food employees, a Walmart manager, a restaurant manager, a Dollar Tree manager, and an auto mechanic, all full-time employed locals suddenly sleeping in their cars, camping in the woods, or living in U-Hauls. I read about a young attorney making $70K having to move back in with her parents because they jacked her rent $1600/month on her new lease.
To get a one-bedroom in Orlando I'd estimate you're going to pay a minimum of $1500/month. So you have to earn $54K, a salary far above what many local full-time Florida workers earn. Plus you need a security deposit and first month's rent, and sometimes last month's as well. They also charge application fees of $150 and extortionist "administrative fees of $300-$500.
I love efficiencies but I never could find any that ever were available. People who rented them hung on to them for dear life.
Apartment managers confided to me that they raise the rents "because they can" and they'll keep raising them until the TRANSPLANTS will no longer pay them. Many people bail from super expensive South Florida to Central Florida, but eventually Central Florida will be as pricey as South Florida as affluent people continue to flock to Florida.
Im sure another $100 billion for Ukraine will fix this

But does the city not have the ability to annex a piece of property , setup field canopies, supply water and outside facilities for people to bathe and relive themselves with some type of law enforcement? Then bring in city outreach to assist with housing? Is Orlando a poor city with zero funding? Setting up a shade cover on a 105 degree sidewalk is useless

In my opinion, a housing market crash is imminent due to the high number of individuals who purchased homes above the asking price despite the low interest rates. These buyers find themselves in precarious situations as housing prices decline, leaving them without any equity. If they become unable to afford their homes, foreclosure becomes a likely outcome. Even attempting to sell would not yield any profits. This scenario is expected to impact a significant number of people, particularly in light of the anticipated surge in layoffs and the rapid increase in the cost of living.
I suggest you offset your real estate and get into stocks, A recession as bad it can be, provides good buying opportunities in the markets if you’re careful and it can also create volatility giving great short time buy and sell opportunities too. Honestly not everyone is homeless because of drugs etc. I wish that they could be in hotels. Maybe house for working. Have a room and place to earn money. Eventually when they are financially able they can either stay at the job or move on? 😔

You couldn't qualify for an apartment lease in most places with that single income in Florida now. If you found a place, you'd be good for 1-2 years with rent until the escalating price drove you out into the street. Florida wages do not rise as fast as rent. You're competing in Florida not with local workers but with remote workers making NYC wages, or with affluent transplants from all over the US and the world. You would need a double income to be able to live in Florida at your current salary.

Consolidation undermines worker and consumer power, eliminating competition for both. A 2018 study revealed that 75 percent of US industries experienced an increase in concentration, meaning fewer and larger firms control more market share over time. The study demonstrates that increased concentration leads to increased profits for the dominant firms, but that those profits are arising from increased markups rather than greater efficiency.

The mortgage is killing the country. We needed to have, need to #AbolishTheMortgage with a permanent moratorium on new mortgages.
Greedy corporate landlords is the issue. Abolish greedy corporations sweeping up housing and raising the rents.
@@xiuyixu7568 the landlords are mercantilist monopolist democrats. Whether they are incorporated or not is immaterial. Again, the mortgage is the device which gives them the power to rule and which artificially inflates the price of land and building stock for beyond what any market can bear. Further, the mortgage allows the usurers who issue them to erect barriers to entry (“loan qualifications”) which create the monopolies. Finally, and I saw this growing up. the massively inflated housing prices CREATED BY THE MORTGAGE induced greed in our neighbors, so that they forsook our neighborhood, and sold their homes to parlay their speculative gains into luxury retirement homes in some Southern state. The issue is, has been, and will be the mortgage until it is abolished.
@@cpklapper Generalizing them as "mercantilist monopolist democrats" oversimplifies the diverse range of individuals involved in property ownership.
The impact of mortgages on the housing market can indeed be complex. Mortgages enable individuals to purchase homes by borrowing money from financial institutions, which can increase demand and drive up property prices. However, it is not the sole factor responsible for housing price increases. Various economic and social factors contribute to the volatility of the housing market.
Regarding monopolies and barriers to entry, it's crucial to consider the broader economic landscape and regulatory environment. While some loan qualification requirements might be perceived as restrictive, they also serve to protect borrowers from taking on excessive debt, which could lead to a housing bubble and subsequent financial crisis.
Additionally, the decision of homeowners to sell their properties and move elsewhere is a personal choice influenced by various factors, such as lifestyle preferences, family needs, and economic opportunities. It is not solely driven by greed induced by inflated housing prices.
Calls for abolishing the mortgage system entirely might be extreme, as mortgages have also enabled many people to become homeowners who wouldn't have been able to afford it otherwise. Instead, many argue for better regulations, affordable housing initiatives, and measures to prevent housing bubbles while ensuring accessibility to homeownership for those who can responsibly afford it.

what you're saying is ignorant.
Definitely in the future we will be looking at cities building public cooling centers. Maybe use a part of an abandoned mall and turn on the AC. Tents will not cut it with the heat index above 80.
I’m certainly really puzzled. Beijing achieves 100°F every summer and nobody ever fussed. I’m really worried about Americans’ physical fitness now.
This country is in DIRE NEED OF HELP, and we have migrants coming over all over South, Central America. Don't they know that there is a housing crisis?
But the American people will re-elect Biden in 2024. Doesn't matter what the guy does. The media will cover for him. He will sic the feds on his opponents. Ballot harvesters will make sure that he has enough votes in key areas. We are looming on the edge of a one-party Marxist/socialist nation. Soon the US will be one huge California. It will consist of elites who can afford to live in places like Florida, California and Hawaii and vast impoverished masses who are dependent on the government and will keep voting to allow the regime to maintain power.
