Your car looks beautiful. I'm waiting for Spring to give my Giulietta the full tidy up, no point now with the weather here in Belfast, salt on the roads etc.
Thank for your Alfa Giulietta repair/tips and tricks series, it has been so helpful with my car! I own this car for 3 years now and since day one i had a problem with the 2 zone climate control ventilation. The problem is that on the first and second step of power it work very good, but after the third and all the way to max vent, I hear a very distinct sound kinda like unbalanced fan. If you could give me some advice it would be awesome!
Welcome man, I am glad the videos are helpful, for the fan speed problem I would check the fan resistor, but since you said that fan is making noise I would also remove and inspect it, you got the video for removal on the channel
Hello ARC Garage, I am truely a fan of yours and we both have the same car. Considering the notice of your exhaust I would highly suggest to install a free flow mid resonator or just mid resonator delete, which will improve the sound of your car and will not be too loud. Due to sharing the same engine as Abarth 595 even with 1.4TB the exhaust note will be sporty and yet bassy. Keep on the work!
Hi, thank you very much for support man, I will check it out, I might do a similar exhaust that I did on my Alfa 166, it would be interesting to see the end result when it comes to sound. My main concern I will put all the effort into it and it will produce the weak sound
I'd always stay with Alfa wheels personally but I can see why you'd want bigger rims and have more choice. I think the 17" horseshoe alloys on the 159/Brera look good. Mine is a Veloce and has slightly lowered suspension I think but it still has pretty big wheel arch gaps. I'd say get a set of leather seats. I fitted a set of red seats to mine which transforms the interior. I got one of those phone holder trays. Expensive for what they are but they fit well within that compartment. Fits a large phone in there too. I'd recommend it.
My favorite wheels are 19inch prodrive Alfa wheels, however they are close to impossible to find. They would look incredible on Giulietta. When it comes to seats, I am planning on getting some new ones, but I am a bit apprehensive, the kids might demolish them, as they did these in the back
@arcgarage yeah you'll probably never find the prodrive wheels not on one of the cars... I have two children both in big car seats in the rear. Just get child seat covers which will keep the worst of their stains off the seats. Also leather is easier to clean than cloth!! A red car would look good with a tan leather interior. Although the sports seats only come in black and they're a bit more supportive than the standard Giulietta seats, I find them ok personally but others say they feel very flat to sit in.
Ah yes it depends on where you live as Alfa didn't sell as well to some countries. Worth keeping a look out in case a used set of seats comes up for sale. Even the half leather Veloce seats are a nice upgrade from the regular cloth ones.
Nice decent Giulietta you got there. T-Jet is a great simple and durable engine. Would you even consider higher mileage 1,75tbi? I would personaly be scared off with the well-known direct injection issues, not to mention the diesel-like feeling. On my old MiTo 1.4 T-Jet 114kW, I remmaped the ECU, put the Ragazzon exhaust muffler, it's a very good combo, the car is swift and the exhaust note is perfect, you can travel for 7hrs and it's still fine, not loud or something, but not quiet at all as well. I can also recommend "PCV valve" (on top of the engine head with the membrane inside) delete kit, I used 30 euros kit from Ali Express and it's surprisingly decent quality, I didn't even need to modify it much, just some very little drilling and bending in the vice needed. I also removed the plastic top engine cover (just needed a new piece of dedicated gasoline resistant rubber hose with two plastic L shaped elbow pieces), maybe not that pretty without it, but better service access and no more heat retaining. What I can't recommend are lowering Eibach springs + Koni shocks. Yes, the car sits lower, so it looks meaner and on quick twisty decent roads has great handling, but it's also extremely harsh ride for a daily car, especially on not so great second grade roads. So in my own experience it's totally not worth it.
Thanks man, and thank you very much for sharing. If I was buying the 1.75 tbi I would look for a low mileage and the one that has been well taken care of. Those cars require meticulous care, and if you buy the one that has been abused, it is going to cost you a lot. It seems that you did all the right upgrades on your Mito. I am going to replace the PCV, and the one you talk about sounds interesting, would you mind sending me the link for the conversion?
@arcgarage It's on Ali Express / Excellence Racing Store / "Engine Intake Oil Breather Delete Modified Kit For Abarth 500 / Grande Punto For Fiat Grande Punto 120 / Tipo With T-Jet" for 29,65 dollars. You just need to consider where to route the hose with engine crankcase gasses, I just routed it under the windshield in the engine compartment with the hose ending close to the AC compressor and so far it's fine, no exhaust gases smell in the cabin. It would be even more elegant to end it with an air filter, expensive option is KN crankcase breather filter, but any fitting cheap cloth scooter tuning air filter works just as fine.
@@arcgarage*laughs in my TBI with 306.500km* I know a guy who spent close to 12k on his 159 TBI, he wanted to come check my car out, but then decided for the more expensive one because it had lower mileage and was a TI. First picture he sent me of the interior I could see message in his dash “hill start assist not available”. And then some weeks later his rear wiper stopped working. I would argue it’s a matter of who you’re buying the car from and how it’s been maintained, service history and all that. Especially if you have the means and knowledge to work on your car as well. Plus, the TBI from the GQV should be even more reliable than the 159 variant, bigger turbo, stronger valve springs and improved oil feed line. Maintenance over low miles in my book.
@@MrPrajitura you got a point there, mileage itself doesn't mean anything. If one change the oil / filters / liquids often, doesn't redline the engine cold, goes longer distances, use a non-ethanol premium fuel, high mileage example totally can be mint condition. What exactly went bad on that engine? I have been considering Lancia Delta 1.8tbi automatic, but I am skeptical both the engine and automatic transmission.
@@jamesmasin159 the Delta TBI is the same variant as the one on the 159. Overall I’m happy with mine. Main concerns too look out for are the oil feed pipe to the turbo, it can get clogged if the car is driven hard and then engine is shut off immediately. The pipe is right next to the exhaust manifold so if the oil is not cooled down appropriately it can clog up the pipe, starving the turbo from oil. And the other main concern would be injectors leaking fuel at atmospheric pressure (so, when the engine is turned off) which leads to oil dilution which can also cause turbo failure due to improper lubrication. Fix for oil feed pipe is to replace it with the Giulietta QV TBI pipe which has a heat shield. The engine itself seems to be quite strong, as with every car you just need to watch out for a couple things.
Great compilation for beginners on your channel :) rest of us know it all already. One question, is there a way to stopping AC to turn on whenever it wants. I know that some kind of fogging sensor probably turns it on. Thanks.

Have you ever considered to install a dual exit exhaust terminal (for example the Ulter Sport Duet)?
I am considering it, but might not go for that, might create custom exhaust from scratch
Best hubcentric wheel spacers?
Got mine locally from the guy that makes them, but I would recommend the ones which are secured by their own set of screws

More insensitive to changes is the 166, especially the first series. You can ruin the line even changing the wheels. Modification usually do not work.
