I loved watching you make this. My hubby wants to buy me a drum carder instead of using hand carders (I think he may be tired of the noise in the evenings) and I have not been sure that it would be worth it for me but that yarn is so beautiful I am almost convinced. Thank you for showing us. It looks so soft and snuggly, I agree with others that a woven cowl or shawl would be fab
Beautiful 😍 I've recently started trying out textured yarns and I love it. It's so different to obsessing over perfect grist and uniformity. I did a dye lot with my mom a couple weekends ago and I used a little bit of that for a spin and did a correspun slub yarn with random beehives and stuff from your beehive video! ❤ I did the core spin, and plied it with an overspun-opposite spun-single with a double auto wrap. One of the autowraps was a tencel thread to give it some integrity and to hold the opposite ply together.! It made the most beautiful bouncy, lofty, unique yarn I've ever made. It's gorgeous. I made a tunisian crochet scarf out of it for my mom for Christmas. :] I'm going to do another dye adventure this weekend with her before it gets cold here in West Virginia/Kentucky. I recently purchased a 2 shaft tabletop loom and I'm hoping to learn to weave something decent before Christmas haha. I'd like to make another couple skeins of textured yarn with wool we dye together and weave something for her :] Thanks for truly being an inspiration and an overall beautiful human being. ❤️ seeing your videos makes me excited to craft. Ever since I started spinning, after watching every video you have to offer 😅, I've started to experience creativity flow and it's like therapy for me. So thank you, again! You're awesome! ❤❤😊🧶🐑
I'm so excited for you! This comment makes my day. I love this community and I'm so happy to hear that you are finding so much inspiration here. Your bouncy lofty yarn sounds fabulous! ✨🧶🔥🥰
oh yes! It is an absolutely gorgeous yarn. It will make a beautiful hat. If you had enough it would look gorgeous made into a coat. Thanks for sharing.
I'm not usually big on textured yarn like that, but I must say, it turned out gorgeous. I have no clue what I would do with it though. I can't wait to see your finished project for more inspiration!
Ah! It's amazing!! I think I would knit a scarf or handwarmers 😍 but I think your idea with crocheting a hat is really cool. It would be fun too see it when you're finished. 🥰
Ok came out beautiful. I would crochet with it too. I do not wear hats, scarves, or shawls much as it is too warm here but I think a scarf would be pretty but I can't wait to see you hat, make sure and post it when you are done.
So beautiful and loved seeing your process for choosing colours etc as the project evolved! Please please 🙏 turn this into a snood, then it can live its life in many forms ❤ scarf, hat-scarf, head band, etc etc… would be perfect for this beauty 🥰🥰🥰
This is beautiful! I just picked up some locks from the MN Renaissance festival because they were so pretty! I am a new spinner and I still have A LOT to learn. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and your thought process ❤
This is great, I would love to see more videos like this where you go through your thinking and spinning process for textured yarns. I am a weaver and a newbie spinner, so would use yarns like this in weaving.
Definitely try and find a crochet stitch that focuses heavily on the yarn being used. Probably a simple stitch that doesn't fight the yarn. It is really pretty! Good luck finding the right pattern for your yarn. Can't wait to see this become something. Other than a yarn you don't use because it is to pretty use. Not that I would wait 5 years before using the yarn I got while out on the OBX North Carolina 😊
This was such a fun video! I loved watching your whole creative process, and the finished yarn turned out beautifully. I can't wait to see what you make with it
I JUST upgraded from a baby to a standard size drum carder and am really getting into making art batts, so this video couldn’t come at a more perfect time!
The yarn, color and texture is beautiful. Thank you for showing your process, from beginning to end. I would probably knit a garment or some sort, possibly add it to a woven piece of a bold contrasting color. I really want to learn to spin for so many reasons. An e-spinner is probably the best tool for me. I could really go to town with picking fibers.
For my tastes, the dark navy plus batts with the sparkle and the pale pink and natural locks go beautifully together. I wouldn't want to add in that pastel sock yarn.
That is so wonderful, and it might solve a dilemma I have: a friend's favorite colors are orange & purple. I was thinking of a scarf but couldn't figure out how to weave one. Ta-Da! Self striping yarn! I can use natural dyes to get orange with Osage and purples with cochineal--spin it up and she can do as she wishes with it.
I was catching up on some of your recent videos and after seeing your hat, I just had to go back and find out how you made that gorgeous yarn! Thank you so much for sharing the process. I'm new to spinning and looking forward to making some artsy beginner yarn for weaving and crochet. Thanks!!
Hi Evie! That turned out really beautiful, I can't wait to see what it looks like after you crochet it. Thank you for mentioning about the Z-twist for crochet. We need to remember that! One of my biggest pet peeves is when I'm crocheting and the yarn is untwisting, so frustrating!
I did enjoy seeing you do this. For me, I would be knitting it into a garment that has many different colours in it .... blocks of colour, so as to highlight this beautiful yarn when its turn came up. Or a shawl perhaps? Thankyou Eveie
Excellent episode! I didn’t know how to add commercial top to a drum carder for blending. So, thanks for that little gem. And the yarn is spectacular! I’m very curious to see what you do with it - i never know what to do with textured yarns - but they’re so yummy. Some day it would be fun to see what auto-spinning with thread is.
I’ve seen some beautiful sweaters knit up in art/textured yarns, and now have been dreaming of doing something like that for myself too. One skein could also make a nice yoke on a sweater (with a more subdued yarn for the rest of the body).
Perfect timing! I just haphazardly spun some locks and love the texture, but now I'm inspired to try some other techniques! ❤🎉 beautiful yarn! 😍 I would weave with it - either a cushion or a scarf with plainer yarn for contrast xxx
So pretty! It reminds me of recycled sari silk yarn. I see it in a knitted shawl project using it as stripes of textured accent on a background of stockinette.
so helpful! i have a mass of shiny lovely locks and have been holding them for over a year, not really sure what to do with them... now i am feeling the creative vibe for sure :) thanks JE!
Your yarn turned out so gorgeous! I love it - I just ordered a litter e-spinner! My first spinner of any kind, and I’ve been making rolags and collecting locks- I love ❤️ ❤❤ chunky textured art yarns with a little sparkle added in. I’m so excited! I just dyed some roving and silk roving with onion skin, it is so pretty, I’ll use it with some browns and oranges for some pretty fall colored art yarns. If I had your yarn that you just made, I’d have to use it in a weaving, I think, or crochet into a hat or scarf, or both if there’s enough. Thanks for sharing everything here, I really appreciate hearing your thought process and why or why not you would do something else, like plying or auto wrapping. I wish you were my neighbor ☕️ 🍪 🧶
I love this yarn so much, and that is saying something because I absolutely detest pink. No, I don't really know why, but this is one of the prettiest yarns I have ever seen!
I want to knit a caplet with that yard 👀 just very basic stitches to let the yarn speak for itself. I feel like that would be absolutely beautiful. Very curious what the hat is going to look like though!
Thanks. I needed this inspiring moment with you. I want to crochet an Elsa hat and now I know which yarn to spin, on my diy e spinner with louet art yarn winge with my new buy polmerino wool which has lots of fluff and curls and on with some alpaca and maybe I'll try auto rap, it will be new for me. Yes i live on Gotland in Sweden
IDK... I was going to say weave with it but it would depend on the yardage. Ooo! Weave it with another yarn in panels to make a shawl? I just got an adjustable rectangle loom. That could be fun!
from Gerry- I really like how you treated the locks. I don't like it when most of the lock dangles, but yours is just enough texture. I would weave using a weft float pattern to feature this beautiful yarn. Be blessed.
This is a really cool color. I wonder what would happen if you made it 2 ply, but 1 ply is the navy and the other ply is the locs. That would look cool knitted 🤔
Well first, I would squish and love them! 🥰 then I would probably make a scarf or wrap so I could enjoy cuddling with them. Oh that texture just makes me happy! I wanna touch it. 😂 sounds weird. But true!!
I absolutely love the yarn you just made it’s gorgeous, beautiful textured. I wish I could spin as well as you. I’ve looked all over the Internet and I can’t find anything on your Vlogmas box for 2023. Are you making a box for this year and Please, where can I buy it?
Thank you so much for answering my question. If you decide to do a box for Easter week or during tour de fleece, that could be fun and you wouldn’t have the pressure of trying to take care of your family while doing such a time consuming job like Vlogmas. I’m sure it’s a labor of love and you do it so well. If you ever decide to do anything else, could I be put on a list of people that want to participate? Thank you for your time. I enjoy all of your videos. You are such a good teacher and I’ve learned a lot. Take care. 😊🙏💜 Dotty
I'd crochet that, but mostly because I only crochet and tablet weave so far and it looks like a weird candidate for tablet weaving. Though that might be worth learning how to do the triangular loom thing for, a light squooshy shawl is something I could use more than a hat
Another beautiful and inspiring spin, Evie. Thank you for sharing. With yarn like that, I might knit it into a scarf - plain stockinette- as the yarn is delish as it is 😊. I have a question in regards to the hole/ hook bits on your flyer. Did you do anything to it to make them slide along easily? My jumbo flyer ( hook) hole bits are so tight it felt like I was in a thumb fight with it. Thank you once again for everything. Have a fab day!
Must admit I was skeptical at first, but after seeing the result, I'm in awe! Your yarn is gorgeous! I can't wait to see what you make with it :)
Thank you so much! It was a fun spin!
Eve, your technical terms is one of the many reasons we love you.😂
😅💜💜💜
I loved watching you make this. That is the most Aubergine shade of fiber I have ever seen (in the beginning) it’s like aubergine Aurora borealis ❤🎉😊
That would make a beautiful cowl. So everyone could see all the colors.
Beautiful 😍 I've recently started trying out textured yarns and I love it. It's so different to obsessing over perfect grist and uniformity. Yaaay!!! I love when your videos pop up!!
✨🎉🥰🥳
The more drum carder videos i watch the more I think that this is the right size carder for my purposes.
I started with this carder and had it for 10 years before adding my Brother to the flock. It's a workhorse!
oh yes! It is an absolutely gorgeous yarn. It will make a beautiful hat. If you had enough it would look gorgeous made into a coat. Thanks for sharing.
I totally agree!
I think that would be lovely in a woven wall hanging. I think the textures would play out so fun.
I would do nothing with that beautiful yarn
(for a while😉)
.....just enjoy looking at it!❤
That's always an option! 💜
a woven shawl with that would be amazing!! This was such a lovely spin!! :) I really enjoyed it.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I'm not usually big on textured yarn like that, but I must say, it turned out gorgeous. I have no clue what I would do with it though. I can't wait to see your finished project for more inspiration!
I would love to see this yarn woven up on one of those triangle pin looms. I think texture and plaid striping would be so beautiful.
That’s beautiful! I would love to see it knit up. I’m very new to spinning and should love to see what types of projects a yarn like that could make!
I think this would create a beautiful woven shawl on the triangle loom!
The yarn is lovely, reminds me of a summers night with the sun setting. I would make a scarf to remind me of summer❤
Oh lovely 🌅
That's your most beautiful yarn yet. Wow!
Thank you! 😊
It’s gorgeous! I think I would would loom knit a hat with it. 💕
Ah! It's amazing!! I think I would knit a scarf or handwarmers 😍 but I think your idea with crocheting a hat is really cool. It would be fun too see it when you're finished. 🥰
I'm hoping I can show it in my next podcast episode!
That yarn is beautiful! It looks like a galaxy 😍 I would definitely crochet a shawl/wrap with it!
Beautiful!!! And the whole process was very cool to watch. A hat is a great idea, a sweater with a cowl neck. Beautiful job!!!
Wow! Fab result, very celestial 🤩 I’d skein it up and wear it 🤣
Beautiful yarn 😍!! I think a hat would be amazing. It looks so warm and fun. 💚🧶💚
I think so too!
Ok came out beautiful. I would crochet with it too. I do not wear hats, scarves, or shawls much as it is too warm here but I think a scarf would be pretty but I can't wait to see you hat, make sure and post it when you are done.
I will!
This was fun, I liked how you talked through the ideas on camera.
Such a beautiful mushroom-blouse 😍🍄
Thanks! I made it. 😊
❤
So beautiful and loved seeing your process for choosing colours etc as the project evolved! Please please 🙏 turn this into a snood, then it can live its life in many forms ❤ scarf, hat-scarf, head band, etc etc… would be perfect for this beauty 🥰🥰🥰
It’s fun to hear your thought process. 🎉. I think I’d like a chunky cowl with this fun yarn!
Absolutely stunning ❤. You made me want to play with curls again, thank you
This yarn turned out sooo beautiful! It is very you 😊💕
With this yarn I would knit top piece like a sweater, cardigan or shawl, super fabulous!
This is beautiful! I just picked up some locks from the MN Renaissance festival because they were so pretty! I am a new spinner and I still have A LOT to learn. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and your thought process ❤
Happy spinning!
Love those colour choices, the skein looks absolutly beautiful. I would make a knitted hat or a cowl.
Thank you! 😊
Such pretty yarn ❤ would love to see your finished object 👍
This is great, I would love to see more videos like this where you go through your thinking and spinning process for textured yarns. I am a weaver and a newbie spinner, so would use yarns like this in weaving.
More to come!
I would use it for the collar, and hem of sleeves of a sweater! Extra warmth around the neck and wrists!
❤ This is so cool! Thank you for taking us on this creative journey with art yarn. 🎉
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! 💖
Hat & scarf for sure!! Maybe a pillow cover as well!!

Such a pretty yarn. A hat or scarf crocheted. A wonderful cozy item either one.😊
Gorgeous!! The color combo reminds me of those really pretty galaxy photos!!
Holy moly that’s spectacular! ❤
Thank you so much! 💜

Such pretty yarn🥰
OMG! That is beautiful!
Thank you! 😊
Just beautiful
Definitely would weave with it!
Love the yarn!!! I think it would make a great scarf-crocheted or woven!
Soooooo beautiful!!! I like your hat idea!
Gorgeous yarn! I have some locks in my stash and have been putting off using them this was inspiring hank you!
I meant thank you but the hank you did make me laugh 😂.
Wonderful!
It looks so fun! I'd do a thin scarf/neck tie/belt to add some fun detail to any outfit with over-sized needles or hook.
It's gorgeous! A narrow scarf knit lengthwise is what I'd think of making with it.
I was catching up on some of your recent videos and after seeing your hat, I just had to go back and find out how you made that gorgeous yarn! Thank you so much for sharing the process. I'm new to spinning and looking forward to making some artsy beginner yarn for weaving and crochet. Thanks!!
Beautiful!
FWIW, that’s how I defined “art yarn” in my book. Any yarn with intention.
Hi Evie! That turned out really beautiful, I can't wait to see what it looks like after you crochet it. Thank you for mentioning about the Z-twist for crochet. We need to remember that! One of my biggest pet peeves is when I'm crocheting and the yarn is untwisting, so frustrating!
Love this yarn❤❤❤ I would weave with it❤❤
Oh my goodness it's so gorgeous! I would crocheta cowl, beret. Or legwarmers with it.
I did enjoy seeing you do this. For me, I would be knitting it into a garment that has many different colours in it .... blocks of colour, so as to highlight this beautiful yarn when its turn came up. Or a shawl perhaps? Thankyou Eveie

Infinity scarf! Or a hooded capelet.
This was so fun to watch the process!
It would be a gorgeous weft for the ends of a woven shawl!

So pretty! It reminds me of recycled sari silk yarn. I see it in a knitted shawl project using it as stripes of textured accent on a background of stockinette.
ooh so pretty, i think i would try it in a funky chunky weave
It's like sunset clouds in space
so helpful! i have a mass of shiny lovely locks and have been holding them for over a year, not really sure what to do with them... now i am feeling the creative vibe for sure :) thanks JE!

Beautiful yarn 🧶
I'd crochet it into a lovely shawl.
i agree with nay on the auto wrap
I would make a vest with it. Like a sherpa vest or something.
It's gorgeous!!

Oh fun loom! Happy weaving!
@JillianEve Yeah... I'm not sure what I'm going to weave. I'm having yarn commitment issues haha!
That is so beautiful! I would be curious to see how it would look woven.
Gorgeous!!
Hmm, if I could do any craft with that yarn, I'd probably triangle weave a bandana; a textured plaid seems like fun!
I'm not very good at knitting or crochet but I think a broomstick lace shawl would love lovely with that yarn
from Gerry- I really like how you treated the locks. I don't like it when most of the lock dangles, but yours is just enough texture. I would weave using a weft float pattern to feature this beautiful yarn. Be blessed.

this is beautiful
I think crochet it into a pillow case for the square couch pillows!
Well first, I would squish and love them! 🥰 then I would probably make a scarf or wrap so I could enjoy cuddling with them. Oh that texture just makes me happy! I wanna touch it. 😂 sounds weird. But true!!
Crochet fingerless mits!
I absolutely love the yarn you just made it’s gorgeous, beautiful textured. I wish I could spin as well as you.

Yeah, texture doesn't work with tablet weaving. I think this could be a great shawl though!
crochet and weave!!
