I do this because of comments like this. Then I show them to my friends and we get a much needed laugh from the insanity that you not only believe it but took the time to write out.
Totally agree--great characters but not nearly enough on them to warrant the prices. Also kinda hoping if they do a deluxe Spectre that it comes with a cloth cape, because as cool as the sculpted one is I like it when my figures can hide behind their capes to be more mysterious.
I love DC multiverse as a toy line. They make some pretty good figures. But this is just wow! Even if this was supposed to go to a retailer and they said no so they just had to see it on their own website, $40 is just ridiculous. I do find it incredibly ironic that when McFarlane makes something so drastically overpriced people get so up in arms but when Hasbro does it (coff PS5 Spider-Man 2 Peter Parker Spiderman coff) people both hate it and some are like "man I'll still buy it anyway".
Spot on. The McF apologists that are saying "they cost more because they are McF store exclusives" are out of their minds. The store has had plenty of exclusives and none of them have been this insanely priced. I've wanted Spectre since the beginning, but I won't support moves like this with my money.
“McFarlane turned into Hasbro” Actually, it’s been a while. Except you didn’t know it yet: you did pay the price that they were worth at the time. Now you know exactly how it feels. With the store exclusive and the limited productions, they simply made the equivalent of Chase Figures… on top of actual Chase Figures and now they’re raising the price because they believe they can get away with it. The 6-Batman, the Batmobile, the Animated Series line, the “Collector’s Edition”… it all led to this.
I am so glad I used some of the great deals the online store I was shopping from had to offer. At that time I felt guilty for spending so much money, but now I realize it was an investment, because it truly looks like that the time of affordable collectibles has come to an end. I picked up so many McFarlane figures for amazing prices (Violator Megafig for $25 each, Swamp Thing for $20 each, yeah I bought multiple of them), and it seems like that was the last time I bought McFarlane figs, becaus I will never pay $40 for a 7inch action figure. Can you imagine what the bigger Megafigs will cost after this??Nah, I'm out, and I am happy that I purchased the toys I wanted while I still could do so for a great price.
Thank you, Toy Shiz for bringing up this topic. I live in South Africa, and in general, we pay more for action figures. I love collecting, but for me to get my hands on this wave will set me back more than $247,84 (not the final amount). Due to ZAR and the dollar exchange rate until the date of shipping, I will also have to pay more for shipping and import duties when it gets here, which makes this unaffordable for me. So yes, not nice, McFARLANE.
Price increase will definitely keep me from running out and buying the set right away. I will wait for a sale or second hand them loose. With so many so called exclusive figures showing up in discount stores it wont be long till some of these also show up.
If Todd wants to do a George Reeves Superman figure despite the rights for the actor is hard to use on, I think the Crisis On Infinite Earths Super Man body mold especially with the S symbol that he has in the show can still be really perfect for George Reeves Superman IMO.
What bums me the most is that most of those are the same re-used bodies with no accessories. Both Kid Flash and Psycho Pirate uses the same Blue Beetle body, and i'm not really sure, but The Spectre looks to be a re-use of the Martian Manhunter, because of the texture of the body.
I said the exact thing in another video. I remember getting both batman and Superman 1000, the first figures he put out and I was just amazed about what we were getting for the price point. Every figure with a stand or flight stand just for $20 ?? It was awesome ..... Now fast forward to 2024.
Spectre sold out! Shame on everyone who paid $40+ haha. Just like the sculpts, now the prices at McFarlane are really hit or miss. They have been good about adjusting after feedback, hopefully they don’t keep this pricing for future exclusive waves
The Specter is one of my all-time favorite comic book characters. I feel that $40 is going just a bit too far. I have a feeling this wave will eventually turn up at Ollie's or other discounters because they just made too many and won't be able to move them at such a high price point.
Great video, dude. The price increase is really not cool, and I agree with all your points. The Spectre looks wicked and is my favorite of the wave. That cape is dope... but I just can't justify the price. It's definitely left a really bad after taste, and this will totally linger in collector's minds for a while. Time for a coffee refill, cheers!
The Crisis on Infinite Earths was the event that really pulled me into comic collecting after only dabbling before. I want these figures more than anything McFarlane has released in recent memory, but I’ll be damned if I pay over $25 for any of these. Hopefully they acknowledge the anger of their fan base and adjust accordingly. I won’t hold my breath.
Are the prices going sky high to cover the investments that McFarlane Toys put into Digital pictures? The Digital pictures are the easiest products to ignore in history.
I’m almost positive the Kid Flash isn’t even using the young adult body, but the Flashpoint Flash body (same as Booster and Blue Beetle) so he is essentially just going to be a thin adult and bigger than all the other titans that did use the young adult body
@@fernandodelgado4329nah, those bodies had sculpted in panel lines. The torso cut on this new Kid Flash is the exact same as the Cyborg BAF Flashpoint Flash. Todd likely feels that since most exclusives sell out immediately & idiots are willing to pay scalper prices from each other, he'd like to get a cut off that. 5. 1000% agree with everything you said. And it hurts cause yeah I love this wave. I would love all of these but supes is at most $30. I would have jumped on it if it was 30 but 40 is way too much. Everyone not even an accessory no, not more than $20. And the last few figures I got all had paint defects there's no way in hell I'd pay 40 and also have paint defects on top of it. I'm not gonna condemn anyone but I really hope everyone will stick together and avoid this wave.
I am totally with you, this is ridiculous for the price point they have it at. I am a huge flash fan and it absolutely sucks that I'll have to pass on kid flash because as a collector this feels like an insult to us.
I guess it’s called inflation. As prices go higher and people get used to them it becomes normalised in people’s minds. The new normal once they get over the initial shock. As for the figures, the build a figure was supposed to give value at $25 but at $40 that value disappears. Why not just release 5 figures with accessories for a lower price. What’s really annoying to me is that the card gives them the reference point for the figure. Why they can’t get the figure to match the card especially the face, and provide the accessories to re-enact the picture is beyond me.
Well I think it's time to switch to Mafex. Guaranteed that Kid Flash is the same height or close to all the figures in the wave. I use to overlook the scale issues, and lack of accessories. But not for 40 bucks.
See, at ~$23 a pop I was willing to look past the lack of shading, past the ridiculous and inconsistent proportions, past the lack of ab crunch, past the obscene joints... But at this price they must be smoking pure cocaine to think this will fly. This has officially ended my love affair with McFarlane; a shame it lasted such a short time.
Not an apologist (I buy what I feel is worth money and leave what is not), but with the bundle you’re paying $27 each for essentially 5 figures if you include the BAF. It’s more than previously paying essentially $20 each including the BAF, but it’s still not in Hasbro land. And McFarlane has stated this is a one-off and not indicative of a price increase for the line as a whole. We will see I suppose.
If specter was a mega figure, then I can understand why they would charge that amount. But I live in New York, shipping already cost almost 10 dollars and with tax that's probably almost 60 dollars for one figure. the wave looks great, but the price is just insane. marvel legends don't even charge that much, and it comes with more stuff in the packaging.
I am a Spectre fan, but there is no way in hell that figure is worth $40. Pinned joints, no accessories, and an odd looking torso makes him only worth $15. What happened to Todd not raising his prices because he doesn't have to report to investors?
Was just getting into this line, because of the price being justifiable for the figures you’re getting and then they went and Hasbro’d it up. I guess I’ll be winding down all collecting. Can’t afford Hot Toys, Figuarts, Mafex, Hasbro and McFarlane now.
Is McFarlane Toys trying to help out poor Hasbro with these sky high prices? Is Hasbro making McFarlane Toys do this to get the Page Punchers for GI Joe, Transformers, and Power Rangers?
I was excited to see this range (I mean, who doesn't want a good figure of the Spectre?) right up until I saw the price hike and lack of extras. $40 for a $20-$25 figure? Nope, nope, nopity nope. See you around the bargain bins.
From those I do like/want Spectre. One of my favorite obscure DC characters. That being said, 1. I pick and choose the characters I want. Don´t get them all. 2. I´m in Spain, and somehow, I´ve managed to get several Exclusives and some very cheap. So I´ll just wait for the right price. And 3. "Gladly", while Spectre is one of my favorite obscure characters he´s not at the level of Firestorm, Creeper, Lobo (that managed to get for $20) and someday, hopefuly, a Pre- New 52 Zauriel. As such, if I don´t ever manage to get him I won´t be crying either.
Tough to root for this one at the price point when characters like Superman gets a ridiculous giant S on the cape. There's more downs than ups unfortunately.
I'll definitely get the Earth 2 Superman. I'll only pay the big bucks for him. I hope we get Jay Garrick or Al Pratt, the Golden Age Atom figures. Probably not.
-$6.00 off. $33.99. Not bad. Thnx. But I think I will wait. I will pick up the Superman with the cloth & S on the back. I agree on the McFarland prices. 😅
I got so excited when I saw that Superman figure, I was thinking I could get him to make a Kingdom Come version but then I saw the price. My jaw dropped and I couldn’t believe the price I was seeing. Then I saw the Spectre pop up and that one I was exited for cause I like the character but seeing price I realized they were actually charging that much. No flight stands, no alt hands, nothing to add to the value. I like DC Multiverse they’ve come out with good figures but this price, they’ve lost their minds. I hope McFarlane sees the comments and acts on it. If he goes this route for future releases then and not justify the price then this line won’t last.
Man. Talk about disappointment upon disappointment. I would have liked alternate hands with The Spectre. He is one I have long wanted a good figure of.
I'm not happy with trying to find Super Powers at Walmarts, as they have given up trying to get the new ones. I can't find Black Manta, virtually all the McFarlane's stuff is sitting, and I was fortunate to get Wonder Woman through EE, but that was a hassle with shipping. I too will pass on this wave, and I loved Crisis....
Jada Toys does a great job giving more bang for your buck at $25. If they can give M.Bison a wired cape without increasing the price, so can McFarlane. Come on Todd -_-
Target and Walmart passed on a few Marvel Legends waves recently (Mindless One, Void, Scarlet Spider). They did go to Amazon, BBTS, etc but they don't buy as many as retail. Does this mean that Hasbro absorbed the extra cost or fired people to keep them at $25?
@@ToyShiz yup and what do you expect in this hyper inflation Biden created ??? Be thankful McFarland didn't shoot the prices higher like hasbro . Probably will see these at a discount outlet in about 6 months
I confess that I bought these, but it will be my last McFarlane purchase if this becomes the norm. If Target actually passed on these I wonder why BBTS or EE wasn't offered the option to sell them? Is this the McFarlane version of the Boba Fett tax?
I watched “ Dc infinite hour “ last time and they had a crazy stat about the number of figures released by mcf last year, for me I think this is 1 of the reasons why this set was passed off by the retailer ( if its true) , and I think mcf should cut down the number of figures to be release thia year so they could start to recoup the losses and to make sure the retailers have time to sell the figures before another wave comes out and more importantly retailers not passing off the figures
I definitely want that specter i wish he was pin less but hes really worth getting no matter what to me he looks great. All of them look good .but i think in my opinion super man and the Specter are the better figures on this wave 🌊
VOTE WITH YOUR WALLETS! Or Don't complain. If you don't see what's happening and pre order/buy it, then your part of the problem! Uncle Todd sold his soul working together with Haslow so I am not surpriced. I do not buy, I vote with my wallet. Me happy, wallet happy, thanks uncle Todd.
Man, Shiz. I rarely see you get soured. But I don't disagree. McFarlane held the line longer than most. But they caught up quick. These are almost Super 7 prices.
@@ToyShiz sh. Maybe the animated movie is just following the comic story. It was a good movie. I doubt it’s a coincidence these revealed at the same time as the movie
Well I mean they do have a 3 part series out right now, which unlike the Spider-Man multiverse bs gets a full theatrical release and merch, while dc depends on sales and merch let them get they money back
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! He's nuts. First, thank you for the code. With that it brings the price to $27 for 5 figures. I almost want to buy it. I want these figures. These are the ones I have been waiting for ever since the line's launch. Buying all those stupid versions of Batman and his team; supporting this franchise hoping that one day McF would get to the characters we want...AND he does this?!? And it doesn't matter what rationalization may have supported this price setup. Because, I think it ultimately comes down to, because he can. I understand toy companies hiking their prices due to "inflation" when it happens to all their figures. But the thing with McF's figures is that he still puts out $19 figures that are basically the same stuff. How can you go back and forth on the pricing on the same figure line? That Red Tornado you just reviewed with an extra set of hands and the wind is $19. So it doesn't matter what the reason is for the prices because in MY mind, McF is putting higher prices on figures that he knows his customers have been asking for and knows that they will pay to get it. I was already out with the $30 collector price and since people were still paying for them, he thought to bump it up to $40?!? So when he says, "don't buy it, if you don't want to." Guess what, Todd? I'm not buying it. In fact, go ahead and price it all like that and I won't buy anything with Mcfarlane on the card. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! He's nuts.
"You have to do more." Tell that to Bandai. Tgeir figuarts line have been increasing prices further and further. With less and less in the box. Monsterarts are even worse. $140 for a figure with no accessories, little paint, and a high possibility it'll have crossed eyes.

Was just getting into this line, because of the price being justifiable for the figures you’re getting and then they went and Hasbro’d it up. I guess I’ll be winding down all collecting. Can’t afford Hot Toys, Figuarts, Mafex, Hasbro and McFarlane now.
Welcome to 2024! The prices are going to keep sky rocketing!
The spectre could look great with a bit more paint apps, so might have to pick him up
Omega figure of Spectre that glows in the dark, because I love glow-in-the-dark
Its inflation. Its inflation. Corporate inflation.
I would have maybe paid $ 30 for the Specter and Psycho Pirate. There is no way on God's green Earth i'm going to pay $40.
I've been wanting a Spectre figure!
40 per one deluxe o premium figure it’s ok but for the same figures with a lot of issues it’s crazy
This is the last GASP of the toy beast that holding brothas Captivre
-$6.00 off. $33.99. Not bad.
Gonna wait till the go on sale or clearance
McFarlane Toys shit the bed last year with their releases of ‘89 Batman, ‘89 Batmobile, Dick Greyson Robin and Az-Bats, for starters.
Man. Talk about disappointment upon disappointment. I would have liked alternate hands with The Spectre. He is one I have long wanted a good figure of.
💯right if these collectors buy ,this 25 dollars figures,Todd is going too start rising the prices
The Spector is sold out so...
Well I can't get them even if I want to, MTS exclusive usually mean it is not gonna be available for most countries outside of US.
Damn 😞
Man, Inwish I saw the video first for the 15% off. I just used the regular 10%.
Jada Toys does a great job giving more bang for your buck at $25. If they can give M.Bison a wired cape without increasing the price, so can McFarlane. Come on Todd -_-
Love the new Superman body, and I would get the Wally... If it wasn't $40! Fuck the new price
Let the record show that the road to McFarlane losing the DC license began HERE.
Looks like Todd is skiing
Could've at least made Psycho Pirate's mask removable.
Plus kid flashes face is like he’s seeing his neighbors dog 🐩 poop 💩 on his lawn for the 3rd time that day 😂
Target and Walmart passed on a few Marvel Legends waves recently (Mindless One, Void, Scarlet Spider). They did go to Amazon, BBTS, etc but they don't buy as many as retail. Does this mean that Hasbro absorbed the extra cost or fired people to keep them at $25?
On McFarland toy store this baf wave is going for sale at 135.99 from 159.99
What’s 4 x $40?
They’re giving you a discount for buying them all.
@@ToyShiz yup and what do you expect in this hyper inflation Biden created ??? Be thankful McFarland didn't shoot the prices higher like hasbro . Probably will see these at a discount outlet in about 6 months
I hope McFarlane toys takes a good long look at Hasbro ... because if they go down this road they will be in the same place.
I hate that retailers have so much power
I mean, what else is there to say? Between this and the grocery store, I've used up all of my hells for today. All I have left is just plain 'no.'
I feel like McFarlanes figures have a very cheap feel so $40 just seems outrageous
They're barely worth it at 20 bucks. 40 is an absolute joke.
Mcfarlane said alright alright FINE! I'll make a wave without Batman, but I'm charging y'all 50 dollars!
I definitely want that specter i wish he was pin less but hes really worth getting no matter what to me he looks great. All of them look good .but i think in my opinion super man and the Specter are the better figures on this wave 🌊
VOTE WITH YOUR WALLETS!
Or
Don't complain.
If you don't see what's happening and pre order/buy it, then your part of the problem!
Uncle Todd sold his soul working together with Haslow so I am not surpriced.
I do not buy, I vote with my wallet.
Me happy, wallet happy, thanks uncle Todd.
I caved and got superman hes awesome in hand
This 40 dollar price point is beyond ridiculous and selfish on McFarlanes part they should be ashamed.
Man, Shiz. I rarely see you get soured. But I don't disagree. McFarlane held the line longer than most. But they caught up quick. These are almost Super 7 prices.
I just watch the animated, crisis on infinite earths. This seems to be a movie wave
It’s not. But you could call it a potential tie in to that animated film being released
He's nuts.
Spectre already sold out on McFarlane’s site for $40. I think they said this was suppose to be a Target exclusive and they passed on it.
They never said anything. People are making stuff up.
@@ToyShiz glad you are clarifying it. Sad the only way to get some characters is to buy the whole set. Mainly the Spectre character.
I don’t know where Ross and Ollies get their figures from. But as of late at my Ross I see a bunch of marvel and DC figures.
"You have to do more."
Tell that to Bandai. Tgeir figuarts line have been increasing prices further and further. With less and less in the box. Monsterarts are even worse. $140 for a figure with no accessories, little paint, and a high possibility it'll have crossed eyes.
