I subscribed yesterday. I happen to be a fan of Alan Watts and Star Wars. I have been thinking a lot lately about Star Wars and what it would mean to be a Jedi on Earth. Found your channel while listening to Alan Watts stuff, trying to cheer up.
Philosophy is my favorite subject. I love how complex or simple it can be. It is a fundamental and diverse subject. Like the force. It teaches one how to think freely, and to ask any questions. I’ve been looking into mysticism as well. Manly P. Hall and Rudolf Steiner are of personal interests currently.
May the force be with you, Master Jedi. 🙏

Thank you for the sub - it is greatly appreciated. I’m sorry to hear that things have been challenging for you my friend. Such is the way of things sometimes. I’m so pleased that you are seeking philosophical answers - that is a necessary step. Hall and Steiner will help, as will many others! As Rumi said “Yesterday I was clever so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise so I am changing myself.”
The trickier part is applying what we learn, not to change per se, but to reveal the potential already inherent in us - and that is where the Jedi archetype has great value.
May The Force be with You . . . Always

@thejedilibrary I decided to cut my hair and start a Jedi braid today haha. Mostly just for fun; and to practice giving up attachment after wearing it for a few years or so.
Now seeing this response. The Force is showing me signs, a form of patterns in reality, synchronicity…
I believe in the force tbh. I just think of it a bit differently in real life. I feel like energy, vibration, frequency, electromagnetism, attraction, repulsion, neutrality, ignorance, and knowledge are all a part of it. Perhaps also like a universal consciousness, which can be activated or interacted with through meditations and dreams. Like a library in the clouds of the mind’s eye. Akashic records. Everything is connected. Everything is a multiplicity in that every thing is vibrating at various frequencies. But everything is also a singularity, in that all things are vibrations. And consciousness works within some sort of interconnected web of some sort. Like a field within “space” that is a network of coexisting electromagnetic fields and consciousness as the fundamental guiding force of all material. I probably sound crazy haha. I’m a philosopher and I enjoy physics and mathematics. I think I think too much 🤔

@@mikerivers8595 You don't sound crazy - sounds to me like you have a good working model! Many great minds have come to a similar conclusion: "The only true atom, the only thing which we cannot subdivide and cut in half, is the universe." - Samuel Butler
The trick is truly living in that knowledge and developing the habits and ways that emerge from that metaphysic 🤗

This isn’t an Alan Watts book? Curious to know before I burn up the time listening to it. I’m looking for Become What You Are by Mr. Watts

It is an Alan Watts book - but with small adjustments. The changes are minor and appropriate for a Jedi audience - they don't change the book's message at all!

Alan Watts is my favorite philosopher. However I found this book condescending as it was supposed to be written for kids. 4:15:52 The giveaway is the line "anyone who brags about knowing this does not understand it". WTF, I still can't believe he left that line in. And by the way there is no mention of the Jedi, the Force, the internet etc. in the original book which was written in 1966. Nice try though.

Thanks for the feedback - he did think of it as a book for young adults (rather than kids), but I still find it valuable. The suggestion that "those who know, do not boast, and those that boast, do not know" is extremely ancient and appears in many wisdom texts (e.g. Tao Te Ching ch.56) - in my personal experience, it is a good heuristic! Furthermore, nobody with a lived practice based on this book would ever feel the need to brag ;)
