I doubt that The Dick Van Dyke show writers ever considered trying to fit in a comedic robbery like that. Rob Petrie would make do with whatever bread was left in the store, while Jerry, in all his narcissistic , egotistical self will take that marble rye, no matter who he has to hurt.
As much as I loved this show, George and Kramer were the funniest parts. Jerry was mostly the status quo guy and the straight man, despite his career as a stand-up. Elaine had her moments, but they pale in comparison to George and Kramer's antics
