In this video you can see the evolution of size of military personnel in each country, in each year for the period 1816 to 2020.
Numbers represents active duty military. Troops in the reserves, colonial troops, irregular forces such as civil defense units, frontier guards, gendarmerie or carabineri were not included.
NMC (National Material Capabilities )
I forgot about Czechoslovak army. It had around 250.000 soldiers during WW2

The fluctuation is crazy, the music goes so well lol
Reddit brought me here. But nice graph 📊 though.
It is very nice but I think that the Czechoslovak army is missing. They had quite big army before WW2 especially during mobilisation in 1938, around 1 200 000 soldiers.
I included Czechoslovak army in my data sheet, but I made a mistake when creating the visualization and Czechoslovakia didn't end up in the video. Sorry for that :(
@@datacomparison7146 i have you in database of employees, but I didn't pay you, sorry 😂 hope it will work irl
@@MartinVit1997 Not even close to analogous.
2:14 weird flex but ok
Nice video mate
Thank you!
I´m kinda sad that u didn´t include Czechoslovakian army.. 1922 - 150k soldiers , 1938 - 1,1 milion soldiers.. :)
You're right. Sorry for that. I included Czechoslovakia in my data sheet, but somehow I didn't included it in the visualization.
2:28 WWI moment
3:06 WWII moment

Germany and Italy werent formed until the latter half of the 19th century, what are these numbers supposed to represent? Is the German one supposed to represent the confederacy? or Prussia? Then why have Saxony separate? Very confused.
Nice with this music.
World War 1 Starts:
Everybody: Uh uh uh Let’s get on the party with our crazy happy armies.
Where did u find the exact numbers?i dont get to see any on ur link
Are you want to upload more videos like this I have many videos of top ranking

No.😀 Sorry for that.😄
Nice Video Bro #AnimatedStatisticsComerMierda

i just realised the top 4 are the top 4 most populated as well
what do the colors mean?
Continents :)
So why isn't the CSA on here in the 1860's?
Ahh yes, love the urss
India (British Raj) is missing from this during WW2, 2.5 million at onset of the war. Since the British numbers are below that India hasn't been merged with them either.
Portugal sent 100.000 soldiers to France in WW1.
How could the Army have been smaller than that?
Portugal army in WW1 had 125.000 soldiers
@@datacomparison7146 Thanks!
all these minor nations in 2020 with their manpower but wont get shit done in combat lol
Can anyone tell me why the Italian army jumped to a million men in 1934 then dropped back down again less than a year later?
Because many left as Mussulini had come to charge
Its not the forces with more men, its the men with more forces
The Norwegian army is missing. In the 1980s we hat around 500.000 personel, but we didn't make your list
Hi! I checked the again the data sheet. It says that Norwegian army had around 40.000 personel in 1980s. This numbers represent active duty mililary. Are you sure norwegian army had 500.000 active duty soldiers?
@@datacomparison7146 in the 80s the airforce alone had 40.000. A documentary made by the top news station (funded by the government ) the entire military had about 500.000 personnel
40s is just Germany and Russia racing in army
why didnt you include NATO and such armies?
Nato a country?
I wanted to compare only countries :D Maybe I will compare alliances in another video.
@@datacomparison7146 it may be great
Austria-Hungary didn’t even exist up until 1867, it was the Austrian Empire before that🤦♂️
Turkey is just there in the list without any wars
izmir invasion
conquest of istanbul
Independence War
And More
Where is Czechoslovakia? They had one of the biggest army in Europe before the betrayal of Great Britain and France in 1938.
I made a mistake and Czechoslovakia didn't end up in the video. Sorry for that :(
Japan and Germany disappear after Hiroshima lmao
It looks like bullshit when you compare it with the original data set.
you misspell ussr, your going to gulag
😅😅
URSS? You mean USSR
It's not URSS it's USSR
Who is here during Russian-Ukrainian War? :(
YourDad's still YourDad Was&Is
you only counted active duty iranian military. irans military is around 20 million.
For each country the number represents active duty military
@@datacomparison7146 make one for total military size so Iran can be #1 the whole time 😁
@@quarantinegrillmaster4532 Yeah lots of 11 year old kids with loosely fitted helmets to get sent against tanks and artillery. That 20 million was just able to stop Saddam from overwhelming Iran.
We all know how Saddam fared against actual military powers.
@@TheTeddyGuy28 youre a mathematically challenged idiot. 20-25 million iranians have over 8 years of professional training and are part of the reserves. if you want to count the children the number is 50 million. iran doesnt employ child soldiers. if you attack iranian children they shoot back, just like usa where the children are armed (they sell pink rifles with hello kitty stickers in my town). if you attack iranian soil you will find children there and they will fight.
My man! You are forgetting. The. Most. Important. Branch. The Air Force! So what if you have a billion men. Jets and bombers just flew over them bombed your military bases, your supply depots, you oil rigs, your cities, your roads, your ships. You can’t do anything against them. Oh you have anti-air missiles? Flares, stealth, guided missiles from hundreds of miles away.
Never thought youd have the largest army size if you fight youre own country
