Heartbroken for Brousseau.. SO CLOSE to that Olympic standard!

I don’t how Canada chooses their team (I’m from the US, so we generally take top 2 no matter what), but Brousseau can still make the Olympics. So, each team can take 26 athletes, with relay athletes not necessarily needing the QT, but 2nd place athletes can also make the team by at least getting the Olympic Consideration Time. This is slightly easier than the QT, which have been set almost unreasonably fast this year, if you take into account that a significant number of Australian 2nd place swimmers just missed the qualifying time (and I saw a ridiculous number of world and area records broken at their team trials). I haven’t actually gotten to the part you are speaking about, so I don’t know how close Brousseau was to the time, but ahe absolutely could still get a place on the roster if it was just outside. Their chances are relatively good, as the more athletes on the M and W side that make the cut in multiple events, the more spots are available for 2nd place finishers and Olympic consideration Time qualifiers. Personally, I think the 26 roster number is kind of ridiculous, as you actually lower competition at the Olympics by restricting some teams 2nd place finishers from getting an auto spot like was the case for the past many decades. Most sports take top three, swimming has now restricted so much even second place may miss out (despite that athlete having a significant chance of medaling if they are American, Canadian, Chinese, Australian, etc.) Hopefully, my rambling makes sense- I do apologize for the rather lengthy response.

Day one. Maggie McNeil, the best.
I can wait to see her in Paris to defend the gold.
