I just finished reading Rosemary’s Baby by Ira Levin having seen the movie version many years ago. The book is exceptional. Not scary in the traditional sense and many already know the basic story. But Levin did a great job of dropping in parts of the story along the way allowing you to join Rosemary as she pieces together that things aren’t as they seem. Really enjoyed it despite a few racial references that are unfortunate but it was written in 1967.

FABULOUS wig Jen :-) My two favourite books for this time of year are Dark Matter (A Ghost Story) by Michelle Paver and Mr Wroe's Virgins by Jane Rogers (historic wintery gem of a novel).

Right now I'm reading The Upstairs House by Julia Fine, in which a dazed new mother realizes that the ghost of Margaret Wise Brown is living above her apartment. I'm only about fifty pages in, but so far I'm very impressed with the writing.

So many intriguing titles I've never even heard of, you're definitely my go-to booktuber for that sort of thing. Thank you! If you like books about dolls, I picked up a middle grade a few years back called Frozen Charlotte by Alex Bell. It was quite spooky for a MG and made me question whether or not to keep the tiny Frozen Charlottes I happen to own. LOL

  • @anise8975

I read Ghost in the Throat recently. I was a bit disappointed as I expected Gothic and instead got… Domestic?. But the language is beautiful and I really wish I could pronounce everyone’s names correctly.
If you liked Death in her Hands I recommend Drive your plow over the bones of the dead (whew long title). It has the same premise: old lady solves mysterious crimes and may or may not be an unreliable narrator, but a better story in my opinion.

There are no import taxes on books, just the postage fee if you purchase from abroad. But you should be able to ask your local bookshop to order my books for you if they don’t already stock them; they are available in India. Have you talked to your local bookshop?
