Rufus Philpot not only has a good talent for bass playing and teaching, but he also seems to have a good talent for putting so, so much info in his videos! Really worth watching!
My biggest struggle is really the right hand technique... I just seem to slink into habbits of using my fingertips rather than the pads. Due to ''witch fingers'' where the nails grows beyond the finger rather than ''on'' the finger.
I disagree that the fret hand is doing the most work. of course it depends on genre but the attacking hand has to stay in time, actually strike the string causing it to sound as apposed to just holding it down. When using a pick, the striking hand has to be more accurate and percsice when the fret hand has the whole length of the fret to reside (obviously where the finger is within the fret spacing has a big contribution to the power/tone of that note but I'm speaking of work not tone.
Hmm... you can use your right thumb to damp the strings you're not playing? I just started a month ago, but still feel silly for not thinking to do that.
If you're learning to play the bass for the first time are you better off learning a 4 or 5 string first of all? The 6 string bass seems way too difficult
ExPErt vellige is sooo Mooch bitter! I lernd everitheng wiv esspert village, inclooding how to spell! After 10 years, eye finillee lerned how to play a major scale!

Nice teaching. I like how well you cover the basic, but important fundamentals.
Very nice video indeed. Sows some very interesting ideias about the floating thumb technique, a technique not used widely. Keep up the good work.

I prefer 5 and 6 string basses. Your instructions are right on point for me. Keep using the 5'er in your courses. Cheers Dude 👑🎸🎵
