WOW! I had the corkscrew down pretty well, but was seriously struggling with the windmill. Seeing you lead the corkscrew into the windmill made it click in my head. You rock.
These videos are incredibly helpful, thanks so much for making them! I just started spinning last week with flag poi and I'm really enjoying it, thanks to these wonderful tutorials and lessons from playpoi and others =D
+Nelson Touboul it depends on what you feel comfortable with and if you feel you have enough control. I recommend starting out short by spinning a length of chain around your finger then with practice, let some of the chain go until you have a good length at which you can spin properly.
Wow! Nick and team! Thanks so much for you poi videos! I've learned everything I know from you guys. I've been playing with my sock poi everywhere I go. I'm here in Galway, Ireland and they have some beautiful spots to poi. I just wish there was more people doing it. ;)
I learned the corkscrew very similarly :3 holding the two poi to your right, then swinging the right poi over your head with the left following and so on. Same thing right?
Corkscrew is easy, I accidentally learned it by just playing around and thinking "Hey, would it be possible to do a vertical weave?" It started out same time, but the poi separated easily by itself. Later I found out it was called the corkscrew. But windmill is trickier, I keep smashing my head, and "just tilt your planes" didn't help me much, since somehow I keep thinking "eep, this is impossi-" *ouch*
Windmill is driving me nuts! Can get the corkscrew to work reasonably well, but any attempts in bringing it vertical results in whacking myself in the face/all over, or simply tangling them up trying to keep the beat. Think I'll avoid doing it in public. haha. Great tutorial though! =)
I found doing it the left way was more difficult as my right is my dominant side i got it a lot easier when i started with my right hand instead of my left
Question...Can you get those poi off of HOP...? And can the pro series LED Glow poi take a beating? And are the poi in the video, The Normal cheaper LED poi on HOP?
And another question...I see Oggpoi is no longer for sale...are the lED glow poi on HOP hard shelled. And if sooo do you know where I can get squishy LED poi? :)
Heehee. The problem is that people use different names for the same moves. There are no standards to it's confusing. I learned it as "the windmill" as did many others, but Chasing the Sun is just another name for the same move. Technically, it's split-time crossing over your head, but that's not as romantic sounding ;D
surprised to see that everyone struggles with the windmill. Its one of the only 3 tricks I know how to do :/ I'm frustrated I am having trouble learning.new ones.
@geth1111111 Grinding is bad! You're definitely doing something wrong. Poi should never hurt. You don't need to do anything funny with your head or neck with this.

I use fluffy poi for learning. I don't think it's possible to hurt yourself no matter how fast you're spinning. (to get them, check out "home of poi")
Bringing back the sock poi for this one! Ouch! :P
I'm seriously in tears cuz I DON'T GET THIS.
Don't give up. Try different tutorials. See also if there is a local free poi club at a college or university in your town.
Me too
Vielen Dank!
I fell in love with this, and I can't find a mentor and I don't have money to learn :( I wish I could learn this. I want to so bad .
use tube socks and tennis balls to start - even dollar store nylons and bean bags/hacky-sacks. Find a way if you want it!
Yeah you can make poi out of socks. Send me a message via playpoi.com and I'll even give you a free membership to my step-by-step course!
I don’t get it I couldn’t do any of them it’s too hard to do
all these lessons helped me a lot in learning poi ❤️❤️thanks!
