    Exploring an Abandoned $8 Million Mansion in New Jersey. The former owner was sent to prison after the FBI uncovered a multi-million dollar fraud scheme he was running.
    This 20,000+ square foot home built in 2002 once contained a gym, home theater, barbershop, a ballroom and a wine cellar, among many other features. In 2009 the mansion was valued at $8 million. It was one of the largest homes in that area. Most homes nearby are valued at about $2 million.
    Today, the mansion is now off the market, but is valued at roughly $1 million, a fraction of its original value. In 2009 the owner was charged with wire fraud as part of a mortgage scam he ran netting his company more than $11 million in illegal profits.
    He was also later charged with bankruptcy fraud after falsely filing for bankruptcy in an attempt to conceal his assets from a trustee and creditors. He originally claimed he had only $5,000 in cash, no household goods, no jewelry, no vehicles or any other personal assets of any value.
    The FBI found he had more than $200,000 in personal assets he deliberately concealed from the court. He was originally facing 20 years in prison and was released on a $1 million bond. Two years later, in 2011 he was sentenced to roughly 5 years in prison, to pay $12 million in restitution, 3 years supervised release, and 480 hours of community service.
    His former company served to initiate and fund mortgages for clients by borrowing money from a third party lender. To repay the lender, his company would resell, at a profit, the home mortgage in the secondary mortgage market.
    The company made a profit because it earned fees for both the origination and resale of the mortgage. His company used to originate, finance and resell about $90 million worth of mortgages each month. As a result of the housing crisis, his company had its own liquidity crisis in January 2008. According to the FBI, that’s when the scheme began.
    In 2008, he began submitting false documents to financial institutions as part of a mortgage re-selling scheme. He created a second set of fake mortgage documents such as loan applications, promissory notes, closing sheets, and settlement forms. He used these to resell mortgages a second time, even though the actual mortgage loan for that property already had been sold.
    The illegal funds were wired to his company account, which he used to pay his corporate and personal expenses. His lavish lifestyle caught the attention of the FBI including this mansion, several vehicles, spending $400,000 on special seats at football games, & more.
    It appears that as of now, a few years shy of his full sentence, he is out of prison, active on social media promoting his new business venture.

      This property could be used or sold for good, or important. It's limited thinking to believe the vandals are actually getting vengeance. Revenge would be if the idiot who built it had to watch someone else living there for a fraction of the cost he paid to build it....and watching TRUE success!

    I am not into urban exploring but this came up on my feed... what the actual hell is wrong with ppl, i am SO annoyed... this place could have been turned into so many amazing things that can help the community, if it is too expensive for anyone to buy... but now no one would want to touch that piece of shit because of the damage the vandals caused... appalling! Good job in the footage xx

      Yep. This is exactly the kind of house a criminal would get. It's just big and cheesy, not really great materials used, as evident by the outside of the home. I was shocked when I saw that shitty gutter installation job. People with new money usually don't have taste, and then end up blowing a ridiculous amount on a poorly built house like this one. What a waste. There are many homes for much less that are much better built and have better materials than this oversized trailer home.

    Wow, what a waste. Every time I watch videos of this type I think that the state and federal government should give these properties to non-profit organization for battered women's/ men's shelters. No taxes to be collected on builds or property going forward.There are so many uses for these buildings and all we do is line pockets of government officials that use the money to get more money out of the taxpayers. Only to waste 3/4 of the money they collect.

      Ive been examining abandoned places since long before urbex was even a thing. Nothin like managing to get into a cool abandoned building, and theres stupid tags all over (actual street art im kinda ambivelent about, but I hate tags. No one but you and your stupid friends cares about your stupid tag name, ok?) and shit broken just to break it. The vandalism & copper stripping has always happened, but tagging didnt used to be as common even 10-15 years ago when I first started getting into abandoned places.

    This once was a beautiful home. It's amazing what greed & fuckery can get you,yet you lose it at some point. Wrong doings are always short lived. It's also fascinating how white collar crimes receive little jail time& are out in enough time to buy back their property for a fraction of what they paid initially SMH. Great video guys& information. I like how you guys are silent throughout the video& put up info to read,cause others I've watched talked too much & showed less. BRAVO guys👏👏💯

    By far the best abandoned mansion video i've seen to date. There was no commentary in which you repeated yourself over and over, pointing out the obvious and no assumptions made about what you thought things in the house may have been used for only to be hilariously inaccurate. You brought only the facts and i loved how you were able to find pictures of it in its prime. Good stuff!!

    the staircase and landing overlook make the area "short and squat". that is bad design on the architect's part, unless the owners said "It's cool", then they are both lacking in taste. Shame that vandals destroyed the glass works, even though they are not custom made ad can be bought off the rack. they are still nice. Some things are too "over the top" like the fancy baroque doorknobs. This house has no real style or character. but that is how the .com and mortgage millionaires were. I can't agree more. Spray paint only for workers and artists with degree. They oughtta pay for a street art permit and be able to fully access to the cadastre to know whether the abandoned places are eligible for a temporary painting exposition. Spray paint forbidden to fuckwits and edgy kiddoes who are only good to draw penis or write their name. You raise interesting points, so allow me to answer them with this account, Waldo. Haha.
      I understand how getting a degree only to make graphs on derelict places seems apparently to be a waste of money and time. However, what you disregard in your mental representation is how this degree can be multi purpose: for instance, open prospects for applied arts (ergonomy & design of everyday items), advertisement & visual communication, setting design for various events, journalism on art magazines...
      Here's what would be the subjects of this degree:
      - history of art (to sharpen aesthetic sensitivity and bring awareness)
      - spray paint practice
      - drawing & applied arts
      - initiation to architecture mapping (the gifted ones can be reoriented for architecture studies. Not a primordial subject in comparison to the others)
      - Fine arts (more room left to express creativity without constraint)
      - Literature (it's a close parent of all other arts. It comes in completion of History of arts)
      The fact paint is being restricted conditions desire. Is it forbidden to most fuckwits? It inevitably becomes appealing!
      Indeed, it would either put forth delinquency or inspire the better ones to give their all for their passion's sake. That's the latter aspect which matters, because no matter we do, there's always a harmful minority... Art shall be something you seek excellence and find official recognition for, not something left to lazy dunces or pretentious scoundrels like it is today. Believe me, a generation or two of this regime would bring around a dramatical boost in artistical creativity...

      Yeah, $91,000 a year in property taxes is a lot. But the way I see it, if a person can afford a multi-million dollar home, that person more than likely wouldn't have a problem paying such high property taxes.
      Just to give you an idea of what I mean. If a person has $20 million in the bank, and that person bought a $250,000 home. Due to the average bank interest rate, by the end of the month, that person actually spent $250 for that home. Pretty crazy. Huh? lol

Either way, even if they were only netting 3% of that $90mil a month, they are still making beaucoup dollars a month.

    Not for nothing, but this place goes to show you. You cant buy taste. The taste this person had was picked out a catalog and he said, why not I want the whole thing. The colors and materials used are out there. In either case, places like this cannot be sold. Its cheaper to build you own how you like it than buy this mess.

    • @garysawyers8730
      @garysawyers8730 8 лет назад +4

      +Melissa Salcedo That is ridiculous, no wonder the property sits unsold. But, I'm sure you'd get $7k/a month worth of services from the local government, lol. Local governments need to live within their means instead of soaking homeowners with absurd property taxes.
      In PA, the voters approved casino's in return for property tax relief. What we got was a bigger, still hungry for more, government and higher property taxes. When a state government official asked publicly, "where is the money", she was charged with corruption and taken out of office to shut her up.
      Here, we essentially rent our homes from the local government. Don't pay your extortion money, I mean property taxes, and they take your home. About 40% of my mortgage is property taxes now, it's ridiculous.

    • @Meli22352009
      @Meli22352009 8 лет назад

      Isn't it! It's hard enough paying for the monthly house payment plus gas, water, and electric plus trash and everything else on top of that the property taxes which I would've thought would be included in the house payment not as an add on.

    • @garysawyers8730
      @garysawyers8730 8 лет назад +1

      Taxes are paid from an escrow account that is added to the mortgage. And yes, after all the bills, other taxes, food, daycare, etc..., there is nothing left. Getting sick of working overtime to cover increasing taxes. Apparently, the people who write the rules are either; a) exempt from taxes, or b) have enough money that getting soaked doesn't hurt much.

    It's About Time These Kids Were Made To Respect Other People's Property, Not Vandalise Out Of Frustration & Jealousy, & i Think Because The Parent's Haven't Tought There Children Properly, So They Must Foot The Costly Damages Bill That There Children Have Caused,
