If I make a Wicked-themed expansion in Epic Universe, I can already imagine a portal with a witch's hat on top and "everyone deserves the chance to fly!" engraved on it. Upon entering, guests will step on the Yellow Brick Road to Wicked--World of Oz. It will be divided into two sub-areas: Shiz University and Emerald City. In Shiz University, guests embark on a dark boat ride winding through the canals of the campus, as animatronic figures retell the story of how Elphaba and Glinda first met and became friends. There will also be an Ozdust Ballroom-themed restaurant where guests dine in an underwater setting accompanied by an animatronic Animal band. The other dining venue is the Shiz Dining Hall, which will be a quick service restaurant with uniquely Ozian school lunches. Emerald City will be the centrepiece of the land, it'll have a replica of the Unlimited One, the train used to escort Elphaba and Glinda to the city as a photo op complete with winding cogs and billowing smoke. Emerald City will also have both shopping and dining experiences such as the Hot Air Cafe, Emerald City Gifts and the Beautification Salon for younger guests who wanted to have a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique-esque makeover styled like Elphaba or Glinda. There will also be a Hot Air Balloon tower ride ala the Toy Soldier Parachute Drop, as well as an interactive Wiz-O-Mania live show. However, the centerpiece attraction of the entire land is the Defying Gravity roller coaster. It will be a highly intense, launched suspended roller coaster that spans around the entire Emerald City, giving guests the feeling of flying on broomsticks just like Elphaba did while defying gravity. Think of F.L.Y from Phantasialand but in the Emerald City. The ride itself begins in the Wizard's palace where guests are given an audience with the Wizard before Elphaba revolts against him and directs guests to the loading station where they'll board and soar on their brooms. To me, epic universe makes a lot more sense for this expansion, since Wicked also has an art deco/nouveau vibe and is also an epic movie. If they want to cover Part 2, they better build some rides in Islands of Adventure but I can agree that Part 1 suits Epic Universe.
@JudgeDunfeeTheParkitecter wicked is owned by universal… they got a away with stuff because a wizard of oz book which was public domain that’s why some things are different… and universal owned the musical back in 2003.
I think if both movies do well enough, it’s a real possibility! I think with the wicked experiences they are offering in the parks is to gauge the interest of it. I definitely think it would fit thematically within Epic over the other parks. I’d love to see a dark ride/ coaster themed after defying gravity within the emerald city, maybe a boat ride through shiz university and munchkinland with a kids play area and small dark ride or walkthrough experiences
As a resident of Bedford, the town where the park is planned for construction, it would be amazing to have a Wicked area in the UK park, especially as we would be unlikely to get a Harry potter area due to the proximity to the studio tour.
Yeah, Islands would definitely work! The literary based theme is rather restrictive when it comes to finding new IPs, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Universal did choose to put Wicked into Islands!
I went to Universal Studios Hollywood for 3 days (December 30th - January 1st) and although the Wicked decorations were a bit underwhelming compared to what was offered at the other parks, I was still in awe lol. There were a few posters and photo booths near the entrance of the park, and the themed food was super fun to try. There was also some merchandise in the regular stores and a smaller store dedicated to Wicked merch, and I ended up getting the Funko Pops of Elphaba, Glinda, and Fiyero, along with Elphaba's hat and a Shiz University key chain. On the morning of December 31st, there was barely anyone at the park. My family and I got early entry so we could knock out all the rides at the lower lot, and there were a bunch of posters on the way down the escalators. I think my favorite thing was the fact that they were playing music from the show throughout certain sections of the park. The best part was Defying Gravity playing while going back up the escalators to the upper lot. I definitely think they should consider adding a permanent Wicked themed land. I can't believe they'd rather use their budget on milking the Fast and Furious franchise, seeing as they're building its own roller coaster (which feels so out of place for where it's at) lolll.
That sounds so cool! I didn't know they were playing the music on the escalators too! Yeah, it's hard to believe there's a big demand for Fast and Furious these days, but i guess Universal seems to think there is! Hopefully they see the popularity of the temporary Wicked stuff at the moment and take that as a sign to add something better and permanent! Thanks for watching and commenting!
I think if Wicked is coming to Universal, they will likely put it where Marvel is. Since not only do they already have a green roller coaster that they can just base it on Defying Gravity, but all they really would need to do is brainstorm a new attraction where Spiderman is, but all they really have to do is retheme the existing rides, move the Elphaba and Glinda meet and greet, come up with a live show and just retheme the buildings to either the Emerald City or Shiz University or something. Plus if there are rumors of them removing Marvel and Wicked having this theme park potential, then it's really possible.
@@JustThemeParksYT Not to mention everyone would win in that scenario, Universal would get their Wicked Land, and Disney will get Marvel and we get an Avengers Campus in Disney World.
I highly doubt it’d come to USH as we barely have any space as it is - but it is valid to note that we lose the contract to Simpsons in 2025 leaving that huge space in upper lot available, though my money’s on either Pokemon or Monsters
there was a westie as Toto who ran away from Dorothy, and was even yelled at by one of the talking trees for peeing on her roots. The dog then ran off when Dorothy and the Scarecrow came down the steps into the area. and then reappeared at the end fo the show with the trainer who handed the dog to Dorothy.
Just scrap Harry potter land and replace it with Oz. That solves the problem of directly supporting a massive transphobe with ticket sales and park merch.
Is that why HBO is doing the woke remake? So someone like you can enjoy one of the greatest stories ever written, selling out as many copies as the Bible, without being triggered?
@barbarjinks8170 The money from that remake will still be lining Rowling's pockets, so nothing of value is being gained there. As to it being one of the greatest stories ever written, it simply is not.
Maybe so, but I think The Wizard of Oz in general has already proved it's lasting power, so some sort of Oz themed land would always be popular, even if it's Wicked links have to fade over time in favour of a more general Oz theme!
It’s still a well known IP for several decades. It does have a future, it just needs someone with the creativity to make it into a successful theme park.
No, not at all, they shouldn't use this, it's not at all that influential and generalized like other IPs, besides the Wizardry theme is already there -HP
Yeah because we need yet another HP area…it’s nothing different, let’s switch it up. The rides rumored for HP area could have easily gone into any of the other two they already have. Probably the least hyped area in the third park.
I must say: A trackless dark ride with 4D elements in the Palace of the Emerald City would make a really great attraction.
That would be amazing! The Emerald City is perfect for some sort of dark ride! Thanks for watching!

Your ideas sound perfect! That would be a dream come true and a perfect portal for Epic Universe!
Wizard of Oz and Wicked belong to Warner Bros. Besides, Baum would not like Wicked and I know it.
Amazing Idea!

@JudgeDunfeeTheParkitecter wicked is public domain
A Wicked land would work so well in Epic Universe
It would be perfect!
I would love to see Universal Studios add a 32 minute musical version of Wicked like USJ used to have long ago.
Same! It would be such a great addition!!

It definitely does seem like they are seriously thinking about it! Those are such great ideas, Shiz University is made to be a boat ride!!
Universal Studios are building a new resort in the UK, wasnt Wicked also filmed/produced in the UK too? 😏
Very true! I’d be extremely happy to see Wicked come to the UK resort!
As a resident of Bedford, the town where the park is planned for construction, it would be amazing to have a Wicked area in the UK park, especially as we would be unlikely to get a Harry potter area due to the proximity to the studio tour.
It definitely adds that “princess edge “ that universal desperately needs.
Very true! Elphaba and Glinda would be great characters for Universal to add permanently to their parks!
if that's the case, it would probably be the first stage musical to get a theme park ride. never thought i'd say those words.
As far as I know, yeah it would be! Which would be so cool! Thanks for watching!
I think A Wicked Land would fit better in Islands of Adventure since it's based on a book
Yeah, Islands would definitely work! The literary based theme is rather restrictive when it comes to finding new IPs, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Universal did choose to put Wicked into Islands!

I would travel to any theme park just to play on the Tornado Wheel bookshelves in the library.
Yes! That would be so fun!!!

I hadn’t thought of that, but that would definitely work! Hulk is already the perfect colour! 😂💚

There’s a link to pastebin in in the description which has a full list of references.

I see it now.

Yeah, it’s hard to think of anywhere with enough space at USH! A small Wicked area could replace The Simpsons, but I agree that it’s not that likely!

I don’t think most people care about her opinions. They just enjoy the stories.
Is it possible?! Could it be? Have we _actually_ found a female equivalent of Chillz?
It has no future
