You have to have the blood to understand what each drum beat means, and what is asking for from you. This is African spirituality from Guinea. It is the same with cultures in Nigeria, Senegal, Gambia, Mali, Ivory Coast etc - the drum beat is very African

Does that last movement with their arms at the end of each presetantion mean something? they make a circle around the main dancer when the main dancer starts doing that movement with their arms.

You can also buy a ticket to Conakry and find accommodation on your own, but it is associated with a high risk. I salute you, friend!

Check out the "Djembe drum" group on facebook, I know there is a strong djembe community in the US, you will surely find information about djembe events in the US, but you can also find people willing to play together.
Looks like he thought the pitch of the drum was too low So he was ramming his the rim of his drum on the ground to increase the tension on the skin. That’s something you would use a mallet for but you don’t need a mallet with the right technique
