As a swimmer I can tell you when you get water in your goggles it stings a bit but you are not blind, you can definitely still see. Trying to swim in the sea with water though is a bit harder
It depends. I remember two times water filled my goggles after the start and I could still see in one but not in the other.
nah, sometimes if it comes off completely and then some gets put back into spot you literally can’t see anything 😂
also coming from a swimmer who swam for 13 years
@@billybob6604I can see fine i think it just depends on the swimmer
@@Xpoiled also depends on the water
if it’s salt water then my eyes are gonna be burning
@@billybob6604 yea salt does burn a quite a bit but I normally just keep my eyes open if I’m swimming a short race like 100 and below but anything above that I close my eyes and open them when I breathe or when I think I’m close to the wall
I met Bob Bowman
seems like a nice guy but I know for sure he is a tough coach
One eye was without water😉 If he was blinded he would loose that finish touch good timing.
That was a different race at the end - the 100 fly where his goggles were fine. Bit misleading in the video!
Why are you blind without goggles?
because of water in your eyes
Have you tried opening your eyes underwater? Especially while swimming on a choppy surface
The stupidest question I’ve seen yet
try swimming fast while in the water
the pressure on your eyes from moving through the water makes it difficult to see
Maybe the reason he won a swimming race blind is because you’re swimming in a straight fucking line?
Was that comedy or ignorance? It's such a fine line lmao
You rely on your surroundings a lot in swimming, not being able to see is a huge disadvantage. Instead of hating on others achievements accomplish something for yourself

@mr.irrelevent8956 Mate, as a swimmer who swims competitively, I can assure you, pacing, distance and stroke count is soo important when racing. If you lose your vision, those things also fade and become unclear. Especially in the Olympics at such high stakes, WINNING, while in those uncertain conditions is pretty impressive.
Try swimming with and without goggles
when you become a good swimmer you rely a lot on your goggles to help you see where everyone is, plus any adjustments you need to make while swimming within the lane lines
trust me even elite swimmers have issues sometimes with their alignment and end up swimming on the lane lines while swimming backstroke
Tell me you are a NON SWIMMER who knows NOTHING about swimming without telling me you’re a non-swimmer
who knows nothing about swimming
Blind , handcuffed, crippled he swam using his ears.
