I don't believe "Karen" can clean the house faster than Doug. She's probably arguing with her supervisor about having to clean by herself and is demanding to talk to his supervisor.
1:13:41 Interesting, I solved this using some simple logic but got a slightly different answer, (Doug 10.5, Karen 9.5 which are both 0.02 off from your answer) how I did it: Since there are two people and together they clean in 5 hours, on average they would clean separately in 10 hours each which will add to 20 hours as a whole. Since Karen is 1 hour faster, the only possible numbers that have a difference of 1 and add to 20 are 9.5 and 10.5. By using your solutions and doing some inverse operation from the logic I used above (10.52+9.52=20.04 ; 20.04/2/2= 5.01) therefore your solutions would only work if together they clean in 5.01 hrs... Prettty spooky where those decimals came from.
kids are terrrible at cleaning one time when i was like 9-10 my parents told me to clean m room (shared this room with my younger sister) i found scissors under her blanket and all kinds of stuff under her bed she just hid it lol

Where do you teach sir?
These videos were recorded at UC Merced in California, although I am not sure if he still works there.
I'm always gonna be bad with these word problem lol. Hopefully they don't know up too much in future classes.
The second example is supposed to be 2x^2-x^2=x-(*2 The two is a positive in the example)=5
No, go back and review. The right side would be 5 since when you multiply by the LCD the denominator would cancel our
Sir, in last problem, -5 gives undefined value of rational expression. So there should be "(" bracket in front of -5.
