what Impressed me most was when this gentleman put his fingers behind the cut off wheel and the copper tubing . . . you sir have you know what's of steel . . .and, still, ten fingers . . .
cant wait for part 2, and i think your brazing turned out pretty well considering the difference in thickness.never tried it but i am horrible at soldering so probably wouldnt be to good at brazing
Thanks, I would have used a welding tip but I don't have acetylene any more, it's too expensive to rent the bottles just to use them once or twice a year!
Hi Gary Try a gas welding tip a cutting torch is not for welding or braising you will have more success with the proper tip and propane dose not work use acetylene and oxygen . I enjoy your Videos I own a 2 1/2 CWT John Brooks anvil and love to use it 280 LBS for us old school Canadians .From the west coast of Canada keep them coming
Depending on how long ago you last watched I’ve had problems with both hands and several operations, one failed and redone. Mostly ok now except for no feelings in one finger.
I have collected various sizes and lengths of copper pipe over about 15 years of service plumbing with the intention of selling it as scrap... until this video. I am thinking some type of copper ivy leaves under the eave overhangs. Is there some way to actually harden the copper after it been quenched? Copper ivy with a beautiful patina, yup.
I'm not sure which camera you use, but you might be able to find a decent IR filter for your camera model. I did a quick google and found some for less than $20. They double as decent protection from flying slag damaging the more expensive optics. This way you won't have to explain that "it looks hotter than it is" every time you work with hot metal. :)
because i was not going to sit through a 3 part video to see if i was intrested in what it looked like , i bailed half way through part one , if i saw what it looked like and i liked it i would have watched it all
Fantastic video. Thanks for posting this.
Nice work!
thanks for keeping it nice and simple, of to my shed to try and make one, cheers

Great video it makes me want to go out and make one!
Thanks! Unfortunately I got rid of my oxyacetylene setup so have to do everything with the propane cutting torch!!

It's a "Miracle" bender, bends flat stock upto about 4" x 1/4", although you really have to lean on the 5 foot handle to bend anything that size!!
beautiful just beautiful
A true craftsman

I've never welded copper with my everlast welder before. This would be fun to try.
Not sure what to look for. All the IR filters I can find are for letting the IR through and blocking everything else, surely I need the opposite!
Good to hear. I’ll be watching regularly, hang in there.

Me, Too! I mostly cut with it anyway.
It's not good to breathe copper dust from the cut off wheel. You can buy copper in sheets and cut it with tin snips or a jig saw.
Good project! I use a smaller tip to braze.
What size bearing is used?
Sorry I don’t remember. But it doesn’t really matter, as long as it fits your tube and spindle.
Nice Video... (on to part 2!)
No , problems arise beyond ones control, just now catching up. Watching now it seems like the hand is much better..

FANTASTIC thank you
Scriber looks like a sharpened ejector pin....

Brian Bassett working the copper hardens it, heating to cherry red and quenching will soften it.
@@garyhuston It's absolutely beautiful to see you be able to peel that pipe open with your fingers. Can't wait to see the finished spinners.
sorry, what flower pattern?
What is that large metal fixture behind your vise used for?
I'd call it a whirlygig.
Do a search for IR cut-off filter or IR blocking filter. That should get you in the right direction.
153kg about 5 inches wide and roughly 28 inches long
Just did that, none in my country and cheapest elsewhere is around $77!
Have not seen you for awhile Gary, hows the hand nowadays?
Have you not been watching my almost weekly videos?
nice
Can You tell me what is the weight, width and length of your anvil ?
Hi! Is there a special reason for using copper? Beginner so I don´t know that much! Thanks anyway for good videos!
+Heidi Aho Only that is looks nice, is easy to form and doesn't rust.

where are the other parts ?
In my library with all my other videos!
i would suggest next time start by showing the finished product
Why?
because i was not going to sit through a 3 part video to see if i was intrested in what it looked like , i bailed half way through part one , if i saw what it looked like and i liked it i would have watched it all
+Mosby's men your loss!

You have to make one yourself!
Wow! Annealing copper to soften, thanks eh... Ü
What I should have said was, when I try to watch the video I get a "play back error" message. But now it plays so I saw the video now.
You must be able to see them or you couldn't post a comment!
