The only song lyrics I ever memorized long before I knew what they meant. Forget the fake repellant center of the world "Rhino" screaming for yrs after 911.
I remember when Ian Anderson from Jethro Tull said that the Collectors were the only band that could stand on the same stage as them. This was a very long time ago when they toured together. In retrospect that was quite a compliment.Peace
As nice as this version is, there aren't many versions of it live a the CORRECT tempo, I prefer the record version. For a musician who wasn't necessarily a blues guitarist, he sure wrote a damn nice blues song... hats off to B Henderson
Late 60’s they were The Collectors... I saw the Collectors perform their final show in Victoria, at UVic (Feb 12, 1970)... They announced they were regrouping and changing their name to Chilliwack... For the last portion of the concert, they performed as Chilliwack, and played some of their new songs, including Lonesome Mary, and of course, Rain-O... Loved this song...
I'm old enough to have watched Chilliwack perform this song live, just after it was recorded. They used to play evfery once in a while in the old Edmonton Gardens. And, once they played at an all night concert held in the oval race track called Speedway. I loved them every time I saw them, and I still think they are fantastic.
there is a great studio version on the album. i bought the cd with they were called their greatest hits, boy was i heart broken. the song on the cd is nothing like the album. good luck.
You know what's better than a live concert? One where the audience shuts up and listens.
What’er’ya? German? Or British?
Still so good.
RAINO by CHILLIWACK ummm best song ever!
So good. So good.
This song is QUITE underated
In the 70s I saw bill and his 2 buddys literally steal the show from Santana and Ravi Shankar

The floor tom (drum) sounds like crap. Love Bill.
Pretty hard to capture with a phone mic or camera mic for that matter.

They played Vancouver's Easter Be-In back in the late 60s. I loved the song then and I still do.
